Essential Question:
How can my learning about Globalization help my communities?
Scenario:
Technology has been the other principal driver of globalization. Advances in information
technology, in particular, have dramatically transformed economic life. Information
technologies have given all sorts of individual economic factors- consumers, investors,
businesses- valuable new tools for identifying and pursuing economic opportunities,
including faster and more informed analyses of economic trends around the world, easy
transfers of assets, and collaboration with far flung partners.
Problem Situation:
In this project, you are going to play the role of a web designer. You are assigned with the
task of creating a website for the teachers of International School Nadi. Your Website will
help create awareness about the advances in Information Technology particularly in
Education. You will need to pick a particular IT Tool that has enhanced Education today.
Create the awareness of this tool, an analysis of this tool, the advancement the tool has
made so far and present possible tutorials for utilizing this tool. All this you will have to
present to your specified audience in a convincing manner using a website.
Challenge: You will create a website with necessary information depending on the focus of
your specific audience.
Aims:
• To develop the skills to use Website Creation software.
• To develop an understanding of all the phases of the “Design Cycle”
• encourage curiosity, ingenuity and resourcefulness
• promote effective, informed, appropriate communication
• Develop logical-thinking skills.
• Develop practical skills through the creation of products/solutions
Objectives:
Students will create a website based on the specifications and constraints of the
project.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of FrontPage & Dreamweaver design
tools.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of the Design Cycle Process.
Resources:
Computers running MS FrontPage & Dreamweaver software.
Help systems of the software that you want to use for the project.
The handouts that are given in the class.
DreamWeaver & MS Frontpage Tutorials at Students on DC Server

C Descriptor
0 The student does not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors given below.
1–2 The student generates one design, and makes some attempt to justify
this against the design specification.
3–4 The student generates a few designs, justifying the choice of one design
and fully evaluating this against the design specification.
Note: It is a good idea to check each alternative against the design specification before
selecting the final design.
Recall that the design specification lists all of the requirements that the final product must
satisfy. Before starting to create the product, it is a good idea to check the design and
ensure that it meets the requirements.
Create a chart that lists all of the requirements in one column. In a second column, try to
explain how the features of the design satisfy the requirements.
Criterion C: Plan
Students are expected to construct a plan to create their chosen product/solution that has a
series of logical steps, and that makes effective use of resources and time. Students are
expected to evaluate the plan and justify any modifications to the design.
Achievemen Descriptor
t level
0 The student does not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors
given below.
1–2 The student produces a plan that contains some details of the steps and/or
the resources required.
3–4 The student produces a plan that contains a number of logical steps that
include resources and time.
The student makes some attempt to evaluate the plan.
5–6 The student produces a plan that contains a number of detailed, logical
steps that describe the use of resources and time.
The student critically evaluates the plan and justifies any modifications to the
design.
Criterion D: Create
Students are expected to document, with a series of photographs or a video and a dated
record, the process of making their product/solution, including when and how they use tools,
materials and techniques. Students are expected to follow their plan, to evaluate the plan
and to justify any changes they make to the plan while they are creating the
product/solution.
Achieveme Descriptor
nt level
0 The student does not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors
given below.
1–2 The student considers the plan and creates at least part of a
product/solution.
3–4 The student evaluates the product/solution and his or her own
performance and suggests ways in which these could be improved.
The student tests the product/solution to evaluate it against the
design specification.
0 The student does not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors
given below.
