As part of our Social Studies unit on government, the Grade 5 students will
be learning about Canadas three levels of government. In order to enrich
the students exposure to Canadas provincial level of government, we will
be participating in an exciting field trip to Victoria. There, we will take a
guided tour of the Legislative Assembly, where provincial laws are passed
and important issues are debated. There are two other special parts to the
trip the Royal BC Museum and Congregation Emanu-El.
The field trip will take place on Thursday, March 17th (*note the extended
day). Please review the schedule, payment information, and consent form.
Please read the entire letter carefully to clarify the expectations of the
program.

COST
The cost of this field trip is $25 per student. Please submit cash or a
cheque for $25 made payable to Vancouver Talmud Torah (write
Grade 5 Victoria Trip in the memo section). Payments should be
submitted to Ms. Chan (5A), Mrs. Andersen (5B), and Morah Lisa (5C) no

Students may wish to bring some extra spending money for souvenirs
on the ferry. Students should bring $20.00 or less with them, as we do
not want anyone to lose large sums of money.
If you should require financial assistance toward the cost of this trip,
please contact Jessica Neville (jneville@talmudtorah.com), in
confidence.
SUPERVISION
FOOD
Please make sure your child brings a healthy dairy or pareve lunch, as
well as plenty of snacks and a refillable water bottle for the day. Those
students receiving HOT LUNCH will receive a voucher applicable for
lunch on another day. Students will NOT be permitted to purchase ANY
food or drinks on this trip. Since it is a very long day for the students,
it is preferable to bring more, rather than less food. No gum, please!

visiting the Legislative Assembly and a synagogue, students are
expected to dress appropriately and modestly. PLEASE, NO TANK
TOPS, FLIP FLOPS, OR CLOTHING WITH INAPPROPRIATE LOGOS!
Wear comfortable, respectable clothing and shoes.
Code of Conduct
As with all Talmud Torah school events, we ask that students conduct
themselves in an appropriate manner and remember our school rules and
expectations of the field trip program, including behaviour at the museum,
Legislature, synagogue, and ferry. We act as ambassadors for our school and
when in public, we must be mindful of our conduct.
We are expecting a fabulous day and a wonderful experience for all the
students. Please contact the teachers if you have further questions.
Please submit the bottom portion of this !form, along with your payment of $25
(cheque/cash) by Friday January 29th.
