Training and development theory researched:

E learning is electronic learning and typically this means using a computer to deliver
part, or all of course whether its in a school, part of your mandatory business
training or a full distance learning course. It is include Internet-Based training and
Intranet-Based training. Internet-Based training is training delivered on public or
private computer networks and displayed by a Web browser. Besides that, IntranetBased training is training that uses the companys own computer network;
accessible only to the companys employee.
Hands-on learning is an educational method that directly involves the learner, by
actively encouraging them to do something in order to learn about it. Furthermore,
hands-on learning allows students to directly observe and understand what

happening .The method is including: On-the-job training, Simulation, Case Study,

Role-plays, Business Game and Behavior modeling.

Thesis Statement:
The purpose of this report is to analyze the concept of the training method to Jolie Siam. This
concept of traditional training and e learning way will be analyzed by addressing. The specific
theories of the company will provide solution found in the training concept of the company in to
potential gaps of Jolie Siam.

Analysis:
A. Offline training: Case Study
i.
Description of case studies and when and how to use them
Case Study is a description about how employees or an organization dealt with a difficult
situation. Trainees are required to analyze and critique the action taken, indicating the
appropriate actions and suggesting what might have been done differently. Assumes that
employees are most likely to recall and use knowledge and skills if they learn through a process of
discovery. Cases may be especially appropriate for developing higher-order intellectual skills, such
as analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. These skills are often required by managers, physicians,
and other professional employees. Cases also help trainees develop the willingness to take risk
given uncertain outcomes, based on their analysis of the situation. The case may not actually
relate to the work situation or problem that the trainee will encounter.

A case can be individuals, programs, or any unit, depending on what the program evaluators want
to examine through in-depth analysis and comparison. Case studies can be either single or
multiple-case designs.
Single cases are used to confirm or challenge a theory, or to represent a unique or extreme case.
Single-case studies are also ideal for revelatory cases where an observer may have access to a

phenomenon that was previously inaccessible. Single-case designs require careful investigation to
avoid misrepresentation and to maximize the investigator's access to the evidence.
Multiple-case studies follow replication logic which is analytical generalization. Replication is
based on the rich theoretical framework. The theoretical replication approach is used when cases
have different settings and are expected to achieve different results. This is not to be confused
with sampling logic where a selection is made out of a population for inclusion in the study. This
type of sample selection is improper in a case study. Sampling is statistical; goal is to gather
general information from large amounts of data. If a sampling logic had to be applied to all types
of research, many important problems could not ne empirically investigated. The methodological
differences between these two views are revealed by the different rationales underlying the
replication as opposed to sampling design. Each individual case study consists of a "whole" study,
in which facts are gathered from various sources and conclusions drawn on those facts.

ii.
Description of the advantages and disadvantages of case studies
Advantage: The employees can used their knowledge after they had study from the e-learning
and put it to the test so the managers can see the employees understanding to a certain degree
and easy to have the right judgment. Case studies allow a lot of detail to be collected that would
not normally be easily obtained by other research designs. The data collected is normally a lot
richer and of greater depth than can be found through other experimental designs. Besides that,
it is also develops thinking, planning and implementation skills.
Disadvantage: duration time for each class will be short and it is very difficult to draw a definite
cause/effect from case studies (please describe how it is difficult to draw a definite
cause/effect from case studies) (REF). In addition, Case Studies will be hard to generalize
from a single case so the manager cannot have the right judgment from the first time testing
(please describe why a case study is hard to generalize) (REF). Furthermore, since there
is no one right answer, the problems arises in validation of the solutions because there are more
than one way to look at things (please describe why there is more than one solution
possible in a case study)(REF).

iii.
Training Method Analysis in Jolie Siam:
Case Studies: Right after the employees have done with the Internet-based training, they will be
test by the manager to have them solve the problem in a specific case. To getting a result and
give them feedbacks for what to improve.
Jolie Siam wants to create many solutions, which come out of the case act as ready reference
when participants face similar problems at work place (please find or think of possible
situations where they would face a similar problem in work place as they would in a
case study). Case Studies expose the participant to real life situation which otherwise is difficult
(please describe how it can expose someone to a real life situation that would be
difficult). It can be easy to know their tasks, roles, and functions within the organization (please

describe why it is easy for an employee to know their tasks, roles, and functions
within an organization). Jolie Siam believed that if employees dealt with a difficult situation,
they would have more experience to do the jobs in future. (please explain how dealing with a
case study can give a person more experience to do a better job). Moreover, it will
develop confidence and art of public speaking (please describe how a case study is used in
Jolie Siam training to develop confidence and public speaking skills)
In addition, Jolie Siam also uses presentation method, especially lecture to lacks participant
involvement, feedback, and meaningful connection to the work environment. A lecture is one of
the least expensive, least time-consuming ways to present a large amount of information
efficiently with large group of trainees. It often supplemented with question and answer periods,
discussion, video, games, or case studies. However, it is difficult to judge quickly and efficiently
the learners level of understanding. In fact, they can know the theory very well but they cannot
do it in the real life so that why Jolie Siam need to combine Case Study and Lecture to make sure
they understand both of it.

B. Online Training: Video and Questionnaire

Internet-based Training: The company upload the video on YOUTUBE have it lock by a password
for authority to watch by employees only. Help them study what they need for the job and later on
test them if they have study anything or not.
i.
Description of methods with their advantages and disadvantages
Advantage:

E learning can have the added bonus of developing the learners computer skills,
particularly for learners who don't regularly use computers in the workplace, or have
beginner-level computer skills.
Online learning provides trainees with access to training any time and any place. The
use of technology such as online learning requires collaboration among the areas of
training, information technology, and top management. The audience can include
employees and managers as well as vendor, customers, and clients. The employees
who learn most from online learning are those who complete more of the available
practice opportunities and take more time to complete the training.
E learning can link learner to other content, experts, and peer by chatting on the forum
of their website or sharing the comment on Social Network.

Disadvantage:

A lot of questions are a lot easily answered when face to face with someone when you
can guarantee an instant answer. E Learning often doesnt allow that with trainers often
having to answer numerous questions all of the time and only doing it within working

hours where a lot of learners may prefer to do their learning out of working hours.
This feeling of isolation can often demotivate individuals as they feel they dont have
the support and reassurance that the physical presence of a trainer provides.
It will be lack of motivation among employees to learn online because there are also
more distractions and opportunities for procrastination, than in the classroom
environment.
E Learning requires the use of a computer and related devices and may contribute to
eye-strain, repetitive strain injury and other physical problems related to posture and
more time spent sitting at a desk

ii.
Description of how Jolie Siam uses videos and questionnaire
Jolie Siam was usually hiring the employees and provides them for other company. The company
have many training programs for the employees so that e learning will help them decrease the
cost and time. In order to create favorable conditions for both companies and employees, Jolie
Siam uses the internet-based training to train their employees. However, YouTube have some
problems such as even if you put these data inside the applications private section, yet your data
is not 100% safe and secure.
Each employee will have each account on YOUTUBE to watch their programs, which they need to
be training. After that, they have to do a quiz to make sure they understand that lesson or not
because quiz helps individuals increase the knowledge they may already know on a certain topic.
Quizzes help trainees test their minds to see whether or not the information they learned on this
certain topic can help they in the future. The purpose is not to assess learning, but to give
learners a way to remember what they have learned. One way to do this, besides just telling
people, is to use alternative quiz types, like sequencing and labeling. The lesson of e learning will
be designed by lecture of Jolie Siam or other person who is invited by the company. By using this
method the company not only reduce the expense for training but also convenient for the
employees because they can take the lecture as many times as they want and dont have to
travel anywhere to take the classes.
Please describe what e-learning platform Jolie Siam uses, the benefits and problems of
that platform and discuss some of the other platforms available.

Conclusion:
Summary of main points that are important:
Case study is a valuable method of research, with distinctive characteristics that make it ideal for
many types of investigations. It can also be used in combination with other methods. Its use and
reliability should make it a more widely used methodology, once it features are better understood
by potential researchers. Please identify the possible problems that occur when case
studies and the limitations of their e-learning process are used by Jolie Siam for their
training.

Recommendations:
Case study questions are posed to the investigator, and must serve to remind that person of the
data to be collected and its possible sources. The guide for the case study report is often
neglected, but case studies do not have the uniform outline, as do other research reports. It is
essential to plan this report as the case develops, to avoid problems at the end. Please provide
a list of specific actions that Jolie Siam can take to improve their case studies and elearning program such as the development of using a platform like Alison for a more
structured program.

References:
Please use APA style to provide a list of references and cite those references in-text.
The overall structure and information of the report is good, please follow my
suggestions to improve your report.
Please insert two more pictures or graphics to get full marks on the Graphics and
Illustrations element of the report assessment.
