With a ship and the stars to guide, let Duo Vela transport you across the ocean to other lands.
Experience new sounds and indulge your senses in the colors and picturesque scenes painted by
the flute and guitar.

Duo Vela performs enchanting music from across the seas, giving audiences a taste of the sounds,
rhythms and cultures of different lands. The duo has brought their exciting programs to venues
across the United States East Coast including the Eastman School of Music, George Eastman
Museum, Robin Hixon Theatre, Avaloch Farm and on both WXXIs Backstage Pass with Julia Figueras
and WRURs Open Tunings with Scott Regan.

This summer, Duo Vela will be venturing across the seas, performing over twenty concerts in China,
Australia and New Zealand. In August they will perform at the National Flute Association (NFA)
Convention in San Diego, one of the worlds largest flute events.

Marla Nistico - Flutist


Marla Nistico is an American classical flutist who
enjoys a career of performing and teaching. Marla
recently graduated from the Eastman School of Music
with a Master's in Performance and Literature, studying
under Bonita Boyd. Marla is currently the Adjunct Flute
Instructor at the State University of New York at
Oswego. Marla has performed in masterclasses for
Andras Blau and Marina Piccinini, and has shared the
stage with Edgar Meyer and Joshua Bell.

Daniel Nistico - Guitarist


Australian born guitarist Daniel Nistico has performed
around the world and won international prizes,
establishing himself as a guitarist of high calibre.
Daniel is currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts
at the Eastman School of Music, where he studies with
both Nicholas Goluses and Paul ODette. In 2015
Daniel was the first guitarist in the schools history to
be nominated for an Artist Certificate.
