(MTech/MDes)
TheInstituteoffersfourprogrammesbasedoncoursework:MasterofEngineering(ME)(from2016onwards
renamedasMTech),MasterofTechnology(MTech),MasterofDesign(MDes)andMasterofManagement
(MMgt).TheInstituteadmitsabout400studentseveryyearforitscourseprogrammes.The number includes
about50sponsoredcandidatesfromtheDefenceServices,DefenceResearchandDevelopmentOrganization,
Indian Space Research Organization, BARC, NAL, CPRI, KSRTC, BMTC, PWD and BDA, faculty members
fromengineeringcollegesundertheQualityImprovementProgrammes.
Eligibility
Thefollowingcategoriesofcandidatesareeligibletoapplyforadmissiontocourseprogrammes.
(a)BachelorsdegreeholdersinEngineering/Technologyoritsequivalent.
(b) Bachelors degree holders in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/
Electronics followed by qualifications obtained through an examination conducted by professional
societiesrecognizedbyUPSC/AICTE.
(c)BachelorsdegreeholdersinArchitecture/Design(forMDesprogrammeonly)
(d)
Masters degree holders in Science disciplines including Physics with Electronics/

Instrumentation/Geology/ Computer Application/ Physical Sciences/ Mathematical Sciences as
applicabletoindividualdepartmentofferingMTechprogrammes.
All the candidates should qualify in the GraduateAptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2015 or2016)
forM Tech, GATE or in the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED 2015 or 2016) for M
Des, and GATE 2015/2016 or CAT 2015/GMAT 2015 for M.Mgt, and possess the valid score card(s) as
on1stAugust2016.
Additionalnotes
(a)TheminimumrequirementforadmissiontocourseprogrammesMTech/MDesisaSECONDCLASS
and for M.Mgt a FIRST CLASS (as declared by the University) or an equivalent grade in the qualifying
examinationasindicatedagainsteachdepartment.
(b)CandidateswithBScfollowedbyaprofessionalDiploma,shouldhavestudiedtheirBScinthe10+2+3
systemandobtainedatleastaSECONDCLASS.
(c)WhereverBachelorsdegreeinEngineering/Technologyisprescribed,theminimumeligiblequalificationfor
admission, the duration of the such degree courses should be atleast 4 years and wherever Masters
degreeisprescribedtheminimumdurationshouldbeof2years,inadditiontothe10+2(i.e.10thStdand
12th Std). However the candidates who have studied diploma and got exemption of 1 year in the
Engineering/Technologyarealsoeligibletoapply.
(d) The minimum requirement of a SECOND CLASS in the qualifying examination is relaxed to PASS
CLASSforSC/STcandidates.
(e) Those in the final year of their qualifying examination and awaiting results are also eligible to apply.
However, they should have completed all the requirements for the award of their qualifying degree,
includingallexaminations,dissertationprojects,vivavoce,etc.,bythetimeofjoining,i.e.,bytheendof
July2016.
(f)CandidateswhojoininitiallyfortheMTechprogrammesmaybepermittedtotransfertothePhD
programme,subjecttoacademicassessments.
