Dear Parents/Guardians,
Please save the important STAAR dates below to your family calendar. As we approach the STAAR
testing season, we want to communicate the testing dates and information to you and need your
assistance. Please help us by ensuring your child gets a good nights rest and arrives on time for school.
We ask that you are aware of this date when scheduling dentist or doctor appointments, because it is
important that your child is in attendance at school. We encourage that students have a full breakfast the
morning of testing so that they maintain the stamina during the duration of the four hour testing window.
Students will also have an altered bell schedule and will not eat lunch at their normal scheduled time so
that the time spent on testing is consistent and uninterrupted
In order to ensure we are providing an optimal testing environment on these days, the building will be
closed to all volunteers, visitors, and we will not be accepting any deliveries. This will assist us in limiting
any disruptions to the testing environment.

unapprovedelectronicdevices(suchas,butnotlimitedto,cellphones,camera/videophones,andpagers/beepers)usewillnot
bepermittedduringanystateassessment.Electronicdevicesmustbeturnedoffandnotbevisible;therefore,studentsarenot
allowedtoplaceorreceiveacellphonecallortextmessageduringatestadministration.

ThedistrictpolicyregardingcellphoneuseduringtheschooldaycanbefoundonpagesCC46&47oftheCypressFairbanks
ISDStudentCodeofConducthandbook.

Duringtheinstructionalschoolday,studentsareprohibitedfromusingalltelecommunication
devices.suchdevicesmustnotbevisibleandmustremainturnedoffPlacingthecellphoneinto
silent/vibratemodeandtextmessagingisnotconsideredturnedoffandisprohibited.

IfastudentviolatesthisCFISDpolicy,thenhis/herdevicewillbeconfiscatedandwillbereturnedaftera$15.00administrative
feeiscollected.Districtpersonnelwillnotassumeresponsibilityfordamaged,lostorstolenitems.

Violationofthispolicyduringanystateassessmentisconsideredcheatingandwillrequiretheappropriatedisciplinaryactionas
describedintheCFISDStudentCodeofConducthandbook.

Violationofthispolicyduringanystateassessmentsuchas,butnotlimitedto,EOC,STAAR,TAKS,locally
designedassessment,etc.prohibitsanoptimumtestingenvironmentand,therefore,mayresultinan
invalidassessment.Useofacellphoneoranyotherunapprovedelectronicdeviceduringthe
administrationofthesetestswillberegardedascheating,andthestudentstestwillbeinvalidated(test
willnotbescored)withappropriatedisciplinaryactiontofollow.

Additionally,secondarystudentswillbeaskedtosignanhonorstatementbeforetakinganyversionoftheEOC,TAKSorTELPAS
tests.Thestatement,shownbelow,willbeprintedoneachstudentsanswersheet,andstudentswillbeaskedtosignitbefore
testingbegins.

Bysigningmyname,IagreethatIwillnotgiveorreceiveunauthorizedassistanceduringthetest.I

understandthatgivingorreceivingunauthorizedassistanceduringthetestischeatingandmayresultinthe

invalidationofmytestresults.
