WPVM Guidelines and Policies for Producers

WPVM-lp is licensed to the non-profit Friends of WPVM


and is
governed by WPVMs bylaws and Board of Directors.
Opportunities
to be on the air with WPVM is a privilege, not a given
right. As
such, all live DJs, show hosts and commentators (referred
collectively as producers) agree to adhere to the following
guidelines. Failure to do so may result in the loss of on-air
privileges or other actions as determined by the
governing body
of the radio station.
WPVM-lp is a community-based radio station. Its
community
includes its members, volunteers, listeners and potential
listeners, and the public. The board is committed to
maintaining
a strong relationship with the WPVM community.
1. Producers. This WPVM Producers Policies document
describes
the rights and responsibilities.
2. Producer, Board Members, contributor List Rental and
Exchange. WPVM will not trade, rent or sell our lists. We
will
only release this information if required by law.

RIGHTS
1. To

have adequate equipment and be trained to use or


operate it. Instructional videos will be provided.

2. To

be informed about relevant FCC regulations and WPVM


policies.

3. To

have help from programming committee in improving


your performance.

4. To

control access to the station after normal business hours


during your air shift, as specified in policies about
behavior below (under responsibilities.)

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Stay appraised of what is going on at WPVM by reading
emails and frequently checking the WPVM Google
drive page, for new procedures or policies.

2. Provide

current contact information available for the


station files & Volunteer Coordinator.

3. Report

equipment malfunctions on the Equipment


Problems Log in the control room.

4. Do

not support or oppose on the air any candidate for


political office. FCC#73.4185

5. Do

not play songs which may promote drug use.

6. Play

all underwriting and News & Public Affairs


announcements without comment.

7. Do

not bring open beverage containers into the


production or broadcast area. No food around the
broadcast or production desk. No alcohol is allowed
in the radio station. It is against both the WPVM and
the Self Help Building rules. See WPVM Board

minutes on in September 2014 for policy on alcohol.


8. Clean

up after yourself. If its empty throw away. If its


not, take it with you. Spot check after you guest,
make sure the dont leave any personal items, cuts,
drinks, etc.

9. Re-file

all station material and (paper, invoices, etc.)


Return all miss, chairs, equipment to their place.

10.

Arrive on time and stay within your allotted time slot


for your show.

11.

Be respectful of all individuals in the studio.

Inform the Program Director at least two days in


advance
when you cannot make your shift. Notify
WPVM in advance, to arrange an encore show.

show, you must inform WPVM. You cannot simply
transfer your
show to another show host, they must start with the
basic
and go through training, fill out forms, etc. If you are
turning in a file via flash
or rss, you must get it to WPVM t least a week ahead
of when your show is scheduled to play.

14. Do not broadcast libelous statements (false
statements of
fact about an identifiable person or business tending
to
injure that persons or business' reputation.)
15. Comply with FCC Payola policy. See FCC form #

16. Advise anyone called by telephone while on the air,
or to
be taped for later broadcast, of that fact.
17. Do not advocate on the air any breaking of the law.
18. Do not smoke in the studio.
19. Compensate WPVM for any equipment damage due
to careless or
neglect.
20. Do not engage or use illegal drugs into the station.
21. Do not sexually or verbally harass anyone at the
station.
22. Do not miss more that 20% of your scheduled
programs in a
year
23. Do not change the format or approved show hosts

of your
show without approval of the programming
committee.
