Warm up: Have students stand and walk around the class asking about stss different kind of restaurant.
Then have them make groups with the people who share their same kind of restaurant. Then have them
make up follow up questions such as: Whats the name, where is it locate, What do you like to order?, etc.

For activity 1 ask sts abut the picture. What can you sees?, Where are they?, What is the man doing?,
What is Peter thinking about?
Have sts read the conversation as the listen to the audio. . Then ask: Does Sara like to cook? What is
Sarah doing? . Does Peter like sushi?. Which restaurant is cheaper? What does Peter want?
Have sts work in pairs to practice the conversation. Have sts play role and change words as needed.
Have sts answer as you ask: What do you want for dinner?. What about lunch?
Ask sts to talk about the last time they went shopping. Where did they go? What did they buy? Why did
they buy it? Etc.
As sts which store do they like to go shopping at and why.. The have them listen to the audio on p. 59 and
add more stores they know about.
. Teacher writes shoe store on the board and underline shoe. Tell sts this is a count noun and have them
make a list of other count nous such as: book store. Then write furniture store and elicit sts to give more
examples of uncountable or noncount nouns such as: jewelry, stationary, hardware, electronics, music.
For the pronunciation, teacher writes grocery on the board and model the pronunciation. Thes ask sts
what letter is not pronounced. Say e. then draw a line through the letter that is not pronounced. . Once
the exercise is done, make a follow up activity for sts to continue practicing: e,g. salary /salry/, factory /
factry/, uncomfortable/ uncomfortable/. Then ask sts to make sentences with the words: My fathe makes
a very good salry. Check sts pronunciation.
Teacher writes out adjective on a separate paper, e.g. big, small, old, new, good, bad, happy, comfortable,
red. Teacher arranges the class in a circle and tell sts that they are going to tell a story. Have them use
the adjectives to do so. E.g. An old man lives next door to me. The next sts makes a related sentence
with his/her word, e.g. he has a small dog. Continue around the circle.
Teacher write the following adjectives: tall, nice, busy, fat, on the board. The teacher asks sts to write
comparative and superlative forms for each one. . Then give the adjectives with two or more syllables e.g.
famous, comfortable, expensive and elicit sts to write the comparative. Have and the superlative form for
each one.
Have sts do exercise 2 on p. 60. Ask sts: Do you think tea is better than coffee?. Have other sts make
similar questions for the rest of the comparative sentences.
Have sts use the cue to make sentences about your life. E.g. The largest room in my house is the living
room. The most popular sport in my country is
Have sts make comparative and superlative sentences such as: Local stores are more expensive than
supermarket.
Have sts go to p.61 and make a list of things they buy at the supermarket or shops.
Teacher must have sts do the follow uo activity. Arrange the class in a circle and have the sts. One sts
says: I went to the grocery store and I bough some strawberries. The next sts say a sentence with a

different type of store and the product that can be bought there. I went to the drug store and bought a
toothpaste. If someone repeats store or product they are out of the game.
For conversation on p. 62 have sts answer questions for each picture.
Picture 1: Who do you see? Where are they?, What is Cindy having?. For picture 2: Who is Russell talking
to?. What is he doing?, Picture 3. Where is Cindy?, Picture 4: What is Cindy doing?, Picture 5: Who is
Cindy talking to?, What is she giving him?, Picture 6: How does Russell look?. For Activity 2: Have sts
answer true or false as they listen to the audio.
For activity 3 focus on Everyday expressions. Have sts listen to the audio.
For activity 4 have sts play the role of a shopper and a clerk.
Have sts turn to p.63 and talk about their neighborhood.. For activity 1 have sts answer. What is the
woman buying? Where is she?.
Have sts listen to the video and do the exercises about it.

Evaluation of learning tasks:
