MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MoU)

BETWEEN
SOUNDS OF SILENCE (SOS)

Parties

(Each a Party and, jointly, the Parties)
Recitals
(A) The objectives of SOS is to work for the development of the Deaf community, empowering
them with the power of expression, promoting social and cultural awareness while working
towards independent and barrier free communication for the Deaf.
(B) The objective of ________________________ is to support the social cause in association
with SOS.
(C) This MoU shall be read together, and shall constitute the whole MoU agreement between the
Parties.
Therefore the Parties agree to the following:
1. Purpose of the Partnership
(a) To, in association with SOS, place a donation box at the establishment near the cash
register with clear visibility to customers so as to gather funds from willing donors.
(b) Funds collected thereby will be used for the advancement and education of the
hearing-impaired.
2.

Independence and Liability

(a) The establishment, _____________________,will accept responsibility for any
missing or damaged donation boxes.

3.

Roles and Responsibility

(a) SOS in establishing this partnership will contribute by:
being transparent in its actions
assisting the establishment owner in reasonable issues that may arise with regard to
placing the donation box.
(b) ________________________________ in establishing this partnership will
contribute by:
keeping the donation box near the cash register with clear visibility to customers

encouraging all their customers/patrons to donate spare change to the organization

Duration
(a) This MoU shall become effective upon signature by SOS and ___________________
_____________________ and shall continue in full force and effect for ____________.

5.

Management of Funds by SOS

(a) Ownership of the funds collected will be with SOS.
(b) Collection of funds will be carried out fortnightly or when recommended by the
owner of the establishment.
(b) All monetary collections received via the donation box will be deposited in the SOS
bank account in a clear and transparent manner. Details of the deposits may be sought by
any individual within reasonable limits.

6. Termination
(a) Either party may terminate this MoU at any time by providing at least 1 month notice
of termination in writing to the other Party.
7. Disclosure Report
(a) A report on how funds collected were used can be provided to the owner of ________
________________ if requested.
8. Officials not to Benefit
(a) Both parties agree by the signing of this MoU that neither will engage in any activity
that benefits them financially in any manner considered unethical.
9. Observance of Law
a) Both parties shall respect and have regard for all laws, ordinances, rules and
regulations bearing upon the performance of their obligations under the terms of this
MoU.
