Coursework and speaking test samples

Key things to get right

Follow the steps below to send us your coursework and speaking test samples:
o

1. Visit the samples database (www.cie.org.uk/samples) to check the requirements for specific components,
including the selection method and submission deadline.

2. Access the interactive moderation forms from the Forms to include with your sample column of the
samples database.

3. Include all candidates entered for the component on the forms. If a candidate is absent or has submitted
no work, enter A not 0 on the forms.

4. The total marks you enter on the forms must add up correctly and must not exceed the maximum mark.
The interactive forms will add up the candidates marks for you and will alert you if you have exceeded the
maximum mark.

5. If only one teacher was involved in the assessment, you only need to fill in the Total Mark column of the
Coursework Assessment Summary Form (CASF) or Working Mark Sheet (WMS). If more than one teacher
was involved in the assessment, the marking of the teachers must be internally moderated in your Centre
and you also need to fill in the Internally Moderated Mark column of the forms.

6. W here internal moderation has taken place, the marks in the Internally Moderated Mark column must be
identical to the marks you submit to us electronically or using the Internal Assessment Mark Sheet (MS1).
Where only one teacher was involved in the assessment, the marks in the Total Mark column must be
identical to the marks you submit to us.

7. Submit your marks to us electronically or using the Internal Assessment Mark Sheet (MS1).
Further instructions are in section 3 of the Cambridge Administrative Guide.

8. Prepare your samples by following the criteria set out in the samples database.

9. Send us your samples and completed moderation forms by following the instructions in section 3 of the
Cambridge Administrative Guide. Dont forget to include a print out of your marks if you submitted them
electronically or a copy of your Internal Assessment Mark Sheet (MS1).

10. Keep copies of the forms you send us and the work of any candidates not included in the sample. We
may need to contact you with any queries or to request additional samples.

Important information: The exams officer is responsible for ensuring the forms are completed
correctly, marks are submitted accurately and samples are sent to us by the deadline. If there are any issues,
we will need to contact you for clarification. This could delay the moderation process and the release of results
to your candidates.
