LPG TANKS
GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS

TANKS

Made in compliance with European Directive 97/23/EC and the Technical Regulations for distribution and use of gas
fuels (R.D. 919/2006).
All models bear the CE mark.
Permanent stock of basic models in the following diameters: 1,200, 1,500 and 1,750 mm.

OPTIONS

Models: The catalogue shows the range, from 1,000 l. to 300 m3.
Please ask about any special model or variant of catalogue models.
Centred outlets: All models can have the centred outlet option, when there are distance problems in the installation.
Inertization: The tank can be supplied with the valve equipment fitted (and tightness tested) and with the air inside
replaced by inert gas.

FINISH

Standard finish: The standard exterior finish is highly resistant to corrosion.

The whole of the exterior of the tank is automatically shot blasted, then primer is applied and the finishing treatment is
in black or white according to whether the installation is above or underground. The outer coat is in polyurethane.
In the case of tanks with capacity greater than 60 m3 or with a diameter greater than 2,450 mm., the standard finish will
only be a primer coat.
Special finishes: Other types of exterior finish are possible; such as, "thick coat" of polyurethane (up to 3 mm.), a specific
product for underground tanks with dielectric resistance of more than 15,000 volts. This type of finish maintains high
dielectric rigidity after impact tests.

PROTECTION

Cathodic protection: Cathodic protection can be supplied for buried tanks, to achieve the protection specified in LPG
installation regulations. This is composed of sacrificial anodes and connection cables with terminals.

VALVES

Valve equipment: The catalogue details the valve equipment to be installed in each tank, (the most common brands).
Supply: Tanks with capacities of up to 20 m3 include the valve equipment specified in the catalogue.
The equipment for capacities over 20 m3 is listed in the catalogue, and is supplied by separate order from the tank.
Valves ready fitted: The valve equipment is normally supplied with the valves fitted. This process includes a tightness
test and interior inertization.
Under request the tank can be supplied with valves not fitted, in a separate package.

PITS

Examples of pits are described in the catalogue. Regulations permit more possibilities, such as semi-buried tanks and
other types, depending on the conditions of the terrain and the use of the area (See section 6.2.2 of the LPG
Regulations).

TABLES

Natural vaporisation: Tables for the quick determination of the natural vaporisation capacity of the tank.
Includes all the models in the series, up to 60 m3.
Maximum filling: There is also a table with the heights of the liquefied gas at 85% capacity. This information can be very
helpful.

TOLERANCES

Regarding the dimensions and data of the tanks in this catalogue, the following excess or defect tolerances have been
applied:
1% in total length. 10 mm for distances between support axes. 5 mm for distances between orifices in the same
support.
Rest of measurements according to CODAP F1.5.

USE AND
INSTALLATION

All the equipment in this catalogue has been designed and manufactured in compliance with the requirements of
directive 97/23/EC (European Directive for Pressure
Equipment). For use and installation, in addition to the information contained in this catalogue, it is necessary to take
into account the following:Regarding current legislation, among others:
- R.D. 919/2006: Technical regulations for distribution and use of gaseous fuels.
- ITC-ICG 01 to 11: Technical instructions complementary to the regulations.
- UNE 60250: Norms for installations supplying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) on static tanks for consumption in
receiving installations.
- R.E.P.: Pressure equipment regulations (RD 2060/2008)
- UNE 60630: Fuel stations supplying LPG for motor vehicles

WEBSITE information: Catalogues, regulations, complementary technical instructions, etc. available at www.lapesa.com

LPG TANKS
Diameters: 1,200, 1,500 and 1,750 mm.
All of the models in diameters of 1,200 mm, 1,500 mm and 1,750 mm can be installed above or below ground. The only difference is the colour of the finish and
if they have an inspection chamber or cover, depending on whether they are above or belowground tanks

LPG TANKS
ACCESSORIES
Tanks are normally supplied with all the valves fitted and with no air inside.
The valves can also be supplied separately (not fitted).
In the following pages you will find some examples of different arrangements of valve equipments that can be fitted to Lapesa tanks.

Valves and fittings (depending on tank capacity)

UP TO 13,0 m3

FROM 13,1 a 20,0 m 3

- Filling valve: connection to tank

1-1/4"NPT and connection to hose or
pipe 1-3/4"ACME.
- 3/4"NPT Chek-Lok valve to be fitted at drainage.
- 1-1/4"NPT Chek-Lok valve for liquid phase.
- 3/4"NPT multivalve at the gas phase outlet with
pressure gauge, high point and flow limiter.
- External safety valves with valve holder.
- ROCHESTER magnetic level gauge.
- Plug in the bottom generatrix connection.

GREATER THAN 50.1 m3

Same equipment as the previous one except for:

- Gas phase outlet:
Flow limiter and stop cock.
- High point key and pressure gauge in a different
connection from the gas phase outlet.

Equipment A (Flanged valves)

- Filling, liquid phase, gas phase:
A 3500limiter + A 7513 FP straight
ball straight valve with 2" flanges.
- Valve for high point and pressure gauge.
- 1-1/4"NPT Chek-Lok valve for drainage.
- ROCHESTER 8 MAGNETEL type magnetic level gauge.
- A 9094 rotary level gauge (not in underground tanks).
- Safety valves in manifold.
- Immersion bulb thermometer, 1/2"
(tanks of more than 60 m3 capacity).

FROM 20.1 TO 50.0 m3

Same equipment as before except for:
- Safety valves in manifold.

Notes:
- External safety valves with valve holder: they allow dismounting the valve for replacement, carrying out
pressure resistance tests, etc. without having to empty the tank.
- When the safety valves are fitted in the manifold, the latter has a mechanism inside that allows changing
one of the valves without having to empty the tank.
- As an option, valve sets can be supplied with a regulator and a pressure limiter for the gas phase outlet (40 or 100 Kg/h).

Equipment B (Threaded valves)

Same as above, except for:
- filling, liquid and gas phases, they are
equipped with an A 7537 limiter+ A
7513 AP straight ball valve with 2 NPT thread.

LPG TANKS
CATHODIC PROTECTION FOR UNDERGROUND TANKS
- When the LPG regulations indicate so, the tank should be equipped with an active protection against corrosion.
- Below you will find an example of the cathodic protection system Lapesa can supply, with sacrificial anodes, without impressed current.
- Anodes usually last around 15 years generating the potential specified in the standard. However, this depends of the type of soil and
the area where it is installed. In some cases it will be necessary to apply an activating mix around the anode.
- Tanks are equipped with supplementary pieces in the lifting eyes to fix the anode wires.
- Optionally, the anode cathodic protection equipment can be supplied with a bag of activating mix.

LPG TANKS
NATURAL VAPORIZATION TABLES IN LPG TANKS
The natural vaporization of a propane tank can be obtained by the expression: D = aSK (Te-Ti)/q ) where D is the capacity of
vaporization of propane in kg/h (See next page for the data used in the formula)
The following tables show the vaporization flow for LAPESA models at different working pressures.
The vaporization tables for vertical tank models and those of 1,000 l capacity can be found in their own pages.
Table values are calculated for a tank filled to 20%. To obtain values for a tank filled to a 30%, table values must be multiplied by 1.18.
