Analysis of the article

In this articles the theory that arises is one of conflict. This can be defined as

process that begins when one party perceives that another party has
negatively affected, or is about to negatively affect, something that the first
party cares about. In this article conflict is shown when the police man went
to Mr. Gardens works place without a warrant and apprehend his vehicles.
The police had in his mind that, Mr. Garden negatively affects something that
he cares about, in this cause it would be society, hence he later on stated
that Gordon was suspected to be involved in a car racketing involving stolen vehicles. They are
several types of conflicts. In this article the conflict of approach avoidance is expressed. This
conflict houses the theory that a person is both attracted and deterred by the same goal. The goal
may possess attributes that may make a person want to approach it in the same time may make a
person want to avoid it. In this article the police man had one specific goal. This goal includes
the police man locking up the suspect. The attribute that may deter the police man is the fact that
he know within himself that he possess no warrant thus to arrest this man would be a breach of
Mr. Gardens fundamental rights. The attribute of the goal that may cause the person to move
towards it is that he would be taking down a suspect thus it would look good on his part. This
type of conflict creates an equilibrium or balance. As the individual goes nearer to the goal,
the strength of avoidance increases more rapidly than that of approach, pushing him from the
goal; at this point the strength of approach is higher than the avoidance tendency. Therefore in
this case the policeman would have a feeling to avoid his goal for he went close to it when he
arrested Mr. garden.

Conflict
Conflict happens when one individual or group of individuals perceives that another
individual is a threat to something the first group cares about. Conflict may be derived from one
of two sources: environmental or physiological. Environmental conflicts occur from the external
forces and may include communication problems, structural problems or personal variables.
Structural problem is evident in the article and displays the difference of goals among a the
groups which causes a major conflict. A conflict resolution technique is a strategy applied to
resolve a conflict. There are several strategies that can be implemented which include

competition, accommodating, collaborating, avoiding and compromising. Accommodating

conflict resolution is evident in the article. This is a lose-win strategy where one party sacrifices
himself to settle a conflict.
