Brochure
Description: A two-sided (duplex) folding brochure.
Program Used: The programs I used were Adobe
InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
Date: March 26,2016
Course # & Sect. Name: Comm 130 and Section 1
Instructor Name: Ben Pingel
Objective: Create an original logo to fit a company
that will promote information. Take that logo and
information and put it into a brochure designed to
have an audience act after reading information.
Process: I started in Adobe Illustrator and used
the tools inside to create my King Nutrition logo.
After I finished the logo I opened up InDesign and
placed my Illustrator logo inside the InDesign
document. From their I decided to go with a
Monochromatic Red design. I used text tools to
write information on the topic Intermittent Fasting.
I placed some photos from the internet and even
used the textwrap tool to go around one of the
images as to make it more interesting and appealing.

Logos
Description: Create a logo for an organization
Program Used: Adobe Illustrator
Date: February 20, 2016
Course # & Name: Comm 130 and Section 1

Instructor Name: Ben Pingel

Objective: Create three different variations of the
same logo that will then appeal to an audience in
Adobe Illustrator.

Process: This was a logo I did for the company I

work for called EcoSmart Pest Control. I did practice
exercises using tools in Illustrator. I had the most
success making the design look a bit more modern
using the anchor tool. This made the leaf look alot
more wavy. I applied the existing colors of the company giving it that Eco feel to it.

Flier
Description: Black and White promotional flier to
promote a Graduate Leadership Conference.
Program Used: Adobe InDesign
Date: January 23, 2016
Course # & Name: Comm 130 and Section 1

Instructor Name: Ben Pingel

Objective: Use basic InDesign skills to improve
upon a basic flier layout.

Process: I did 4 sketches in the beginning trying to

decide how I would put everything together. This
process helped me more easily place my design
within InDesign. I centered the words Graduate
Leadership Conference at the top to start the
audience there and then lead them clock-wise. To
the main body of information then to the picture and
time. I mainly focused on having great organization

Business Card
Description: An original logo and placed on a
business card design.
Program Used: Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
Date: February 27, 2016
Course # & Name: Comm 130 and Section 1
Instructor Name: Ben Pingel
Objective: Design a logo for a company. Use this
design to place in a business card layout.

Process: In the beginning of this project I used

Illustrator to create a logo for my personal LLC. It
proved to be tough because I didnt have the best
name for my LLC. I was able to overcome that with
a simple house design into my logo because it is an
investement real estate company. Then I sought
to make the business card simple. Enough to grab
someones attention but not to keep them distracted
from the information. I focused on whitespace here.

Letter Head
Description: A original logo and placed it on a letter
head design.
Program Used: Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.
Date: February 27, 2016
Course # & Name: Comm 130 and Section 1

Instructor Name: Ben Pingel

Objective:Design a logo for a company. Use this
design to place in a letter head layout.
Process: With most of my designs I strive to keep
it simple. Here especially I wanted the user of this
letter head to focus on the text here than the design.
For that reason I decided to just put a water color
of the design house on the bottom portion of the
letter head. I did that by lowering the opacity on the
design after I dragged it from Illustrator to InDesign.
Then I just simply placed my logo and information at
the top with a little stitch design.

Web Page
Description: A web page designed to show skill in
personally creating a logo.
Program Used: Adobe Photoshop and Text
Wrangler
Date: March 12, 2016
Course # & Name: Comm 130 and Section 1
Instructor Name: Ben Pingel
Objective: Write content using Text Wrangler to
connect CSS and HTML to make a web page that
will appeal to an audience.
Process: I used text Wrangler to personalize a
webpage that would showcase my logo that I
created for my LLC. I wrote in the design about the
process it took me to create my logo and HTML/
CSS together. I used the Validator tool in the HTML
was super useful to throughout check the duration
of the project. Lastly I applied the monochromatic
color scheme from my logo into the web design.

PhotoDesign
Description: While demonstrating good
photography and image editing skills I created a
color poster layout with an original photo.
Program Used: Adobe Photoshop
Date: February 7, 2016
Course # & Name: Comm 130 and Section 1
Instructor Name: Ben Pingel
Objective: With an original photo use a color
scheme to create a poster that will appeal to some
sort of audience.
Process: To take the picture I sused my iPhone. I
attached a NFL Patriot tissue box (Red and Blue)
onto a yellow wall. From the beginning I had a
Primary color scheme. In Photoshop I did adjust the
colors especially the background (wall) to see the
yellow in the wall. I also used the elipse tool create
color swatches for the requirements of the project.

Event Ad
Description: A full-bleed event flier to promote a
fundraiser using a scanned document.
Program Used: Microsoft Word
Date: January 31, 2016
Course # & Name: Comm 130 and Section 1

Instructor Name: Ben Pingel

Objective: Learn how to use only Word document
to design a color full-bleed flier. Utilize a color
scheme, typeface, and a unique message tocapture
attention of audience.
Process: I searched for my picture in a bunch of
different magazines, I finally dound my full-bleed
image in a science magazine of a boy. I chose a boy
to promote a conference that would allow someone
to reach their dreams by helping them think of how
they dreamed when they were young. I scanned the
image. Using word I used text boxes to add information focusing on whitespace.

Montage
Description: Blend two or more images to create a
montage including some typography.
Program Used: Adobe Photoshop
Date: February 14, 2016
Course # & Name: Comm 130 and Section 1

Instructor Name: Ben Pingel

Objective: Create a Religious montage of photos
with a religious text.
Process: I centered this project around a picture
of Christ. After adding this in Photshop from the
internet I used another image and placed it on top. I
then blended the images together using the masking
tool to do so. I focused on the path and the message
asking who will you follow? Trying to make the
notice those veering off the path but focus on the
path as to want to follow christ. I used tools to
brighten the path as well.
