Day 1
Activate Prior Knowledge: Ask students if they have ever
done comparison shopping. If needed give examples:

Day 2

Activate Prior Knowledge: Review compare and contrast


from previous lesson.
Read Aloud the original of The Three Little Pigs
Discuss vocabulary words for the original story: compare,
contrast, character (hero, villain), plot, climax and point of view.

Read The True Story of The 3 Little Pigs


Revisit vocabulary words and ask if they are the same or
different for the stories
Model using a digital Compare and Contrast map on the
board and have students give examples of the differences
between each book
Students complete their own digital Compare and Contrast
map.
Day 3
Divide class into small groups
Students select a familiar fairy tale picture book to read
Students will retell the story from the point of view of a character
other than the hero or heroine
Examples:
o Witch in Hansel and Gretel
o Huntsman in Snow White
o Giant in Jack and the Beanstalk
Students will complete a digital Compare and Contrast map
showing how their story is different when it is told by a different
character.
As a class, discuss how the story changes when told from a
different point of view.
