Dear Friends,

The month of July was eventful for the Central Japan ChristianMission trustees. All the members were present

for our July 10th yearly meeting in Cincinnati except HaroldAkers and Tim and Lisa Turner. The Turners, of
course, were on duty in Japan. Harold sent in his resignation withregrets and it was accepted in the same way.
Harold has served faithfully for 21 years and is just now bowing out in order to care for his dear wife,Neomia,
because ofher failing health. Besides serving as Trustee-Director, he andNeomia represented the Mission at
churches, and at various conventions as well. The group voted to install Harold as Trustee-Emeritus of the
Mission and presented him with a gold-plated clock.
Then, Harry and Mary Lou Bauer and Paul and Kathleen Pratt traveled to South Bend,Ind, on July 23rd
to deliver the clock and a potted plant to the Akers. They were privileged to visit withMrs. Polly Wilkinson to
present her with a potted plant. You who are a bit older in years remember that Polly served with her late
husband, Ernie, as Forwarding Agents from 1957-1975. They, too, were honored as Trustees-Emeritus. We
were happy to see that Polly was very alert and seemed

The high school student who was baptized inMarch

decided to enroll at Osaka Bible Seminary after graduating from high school next April. So, he will be the second
youth givinghis life to the ministry from this one church.

The preacher's nephew, TetsuyaObana, has recently

Just a word from the Chidas in Sendai. Recently they V/(ere introduced by the Hong Kong Campus Crusade

For Christ to a Japanese young man. He is a seeker and^as been attending services regularly.Pray!
Toshiaki's father,who is over 90, recently had his leg ^putated. In spite ofpain it is said that he has peace
ofmind because ofhis faith.

Tim Turner reports ofmany summer happenings.(l)C>nthefirstofJuly twelve young people who had come

from the States to visitthe army basejoined sixteen Japanpe youth for a day ofsinging,testimony,and talking
in English.(2)The Bob Warricks hosted the Tokyo missionaries in afruitful time ofsharing.For the young
ones,there were late fireworks.(3)Tim and family. Associate Min.Tsuda,and Ms.Miya traveled to Kochi on
Shikoku for the Japan National Convention. They report good preaching,and fellowship with brothers and
sisters.(4)As usual,the missionaries families moved to a less expensive hotel for their convention.The David
Hinsons(from Wakayama)hosted the English gathering. Guest missionaries,Mr.and Mrs.Ralph Cox
shared about"Church planting.in Japan."(5)Then back to Tokyo and various English Bible Campsfor university
students. Several ofthem determined to study the Bible more diligently.Praise to our Lord.

Sannobara reports ofone more young lady,Takayo U^hio,who was baptized at church camp.The repairs
on the mission house were completed during the summer. Several siding boards had to be replaced before the

painting. The entire metal roofwasin need ofa rust prevention treatment and then an aluminum finish.The local
church supplied the fifst halfand the Central Japan Christip Mission paid offthe balance. In the picture it looks
good.

We receive quarterly reports from the Chidas up north in Sendai. Toshiaki tells us thatthey are seeing the
mortgage on the building being paid offand they hope to able to"Build a chapel." You may remember that
his 90 year old father came to faith in Christ. More recently it became necessary to amputate one leg. Observ
ers said,"It must be because ofhis belief,that he quite often smiles now and seems to be at peace." What a
testimony!

Japan missions are planning ajoint display atthe Nationm Missionary Convention in Peoria,111. The dates are
October 21-24.Mostofthe missions in Japan will be participating.Lynn and Mark Pratt are doing the
planning. Booths will be#107-111/206-210. That's right! Six exhibit booths will represent Japan. A10 minute
video on the need in Japan will be broadcast,and visitors vwll be greeted by a lifesized dummy dressed in a
kendo outfit. Those who greet you will be persons who seryed in Japan,those who visited there and some
native Japanese who are living in the U.S.now. The dea e for volunteering has already passed,butifyou
