Purpose
This guide describes the required configuration settings to connect a customer's on-premise SAP Gateway
System to the SAP HANA Cloud Platform using the SAP Fiori Cloud Edition. It describes the required settings on
SAP HANA Cloud Platform as well as the management of the Fiori Launchpad in cloud.
Note
The required configuration settings for the HANA Cloud Connector are described in the configuration
guide 'Deployment of SAP HANA Cloud Connector with Principal Propagation' (MP8) which is a
prerequisite to get a fully running system environment.
Configuration
2.1
Use
SAP Fiori Cloud Edition apps can be subscribed to an SAP HANA Cloud Platform account. They talk to the
backend through a pre-defined destination called SAP_Gateway.
Therefore, this destination must be maintained correctly pointing to the backend SAP_Gateway.
Procedure
1.
2.
3.
In the Destinations are, the destination SAP_Gateway should be listed. If it does not exist, create a new
destination.

This chapter describes how to administrate your SAP Fiori apps in the SAP Fiori Cloud Edition.
Note
The SAP Fiori Cloud Edition also provides translations to the SAP Fiori apps. For more details, see chapter
Manage Translations.
3.1
A couple of settings in the SAP HANA Cloud Platform are required so that you can access the Fiori Administration
in the cloud and perform all actions required to manage your apps and users successfully.
3.1.1
Use
If you want to apply your corporate branding to the SAP Fiori apps and you want to extend Fiori apps using SAP
Web IDE, you must subscribe the standard HTML5 applications such as SAP Web IDE and SAP Theme Designer.
Note
The service for SAP Web IDE needs to be activated. To check or activate the service navigate on the SAP
HANA Cloud Platform Cockpit in the side panel to Services.
Procedure
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Choose Save.
6.
Repeat these steps for Web IDE and choosing sapwebide as the provider account and Application webide as
the application.
Note
The Fiori apps you want to use need to be subscribed here as well. Find here a screenshot of the
subscription for the Fiori app 'my Inbox'.
Result
You have now subscribed the application Theme Designer and SAP Web IDE so that you can access these
applications in future.
3.1.2
Use
The Site Settings provides you with a set of applications you need to manage your Fiori Launchpad settings. Only
users being maintained as tenant administrator can access the Site Settings.
Procedure
1.
Open your SAP HANA Cloud Platform Cockpit account and choose the following navigation path:
Navigation path

Result
You have now maintained the users and can access the Site Settings.
3.2
With the Site Settings you can adapt the SAP Fiori Launchpad to your needs:
o
Group the apps and users to make the apps available to the users who need it.
Extend / Adapt the SAP delivered Fiori apps so it fits to your needs (adapt field labels, hide fields) using
SAP Web IDE.
Check the adoption of the end user using the embedded analytics tool.
The intention of this chapter is not to describe each single feature but to explain the most important topics in
brief.
Find here some short introduction on the entities being used for grouping apps together and how to publish them
on the SAP Fiori Launchpad.
Catalogs:
A catalog clusters apps together. The assigned Roles define the authorization if a user can use the app on the
Launchpad. Additionally Tile Groups can be assigned to catalogs.
All apps in a catalog need to be selected from the user manually to show up on his Launchpad.
Tile Groups:
A Group is a cluster of one or more SAP Fiori apps. Tile Groups are displayed immediately on the Fiori Launchpad.
There is no user interaction required. If a user is not authorized to see an app in a group, the app is not displayed
in this group. The entire group does not show up for the user if he is not authorized for all apps.
3.2.1
Manage Catalogs
Use
Catalogs are a collector to assign SAP Fiori Apps to. Once a user is authorized to use an app (described in the next
chapter 'Manage Roles'), he can add the app to his SAP Fiori Launchpad. The apps assigned to a category must be
assigned to a group by the user. In doing so, the users personalize their SAP Fiori Launchpad.
Procedure
1.
2.
Choose Catalogs.
3.
To create a new Catalog, choose the + icon in the bottom left area.

Result
The end users can now add the apps to their Fiori Launchpad which are assigned in the Catalogs. Apps being
assigned via Tile Groups are displayed immediately on the Launchpad.
Note
The required roles are maintained as described in the chapter Required Roles for the Site Settings.
Example
Open the SAP Fiori Launchpad (you can choose Preview button in the upper right corner).
Choose +Add Group to create your own group. Enter a Group Name.
The Tile Catalog is displayed. Your Categories created above including the assigned apps are displayed here.
Choose the + beyond the app to assign it to a group of your choice.
Assign it to a group and choose OK. The app then shows up on your Launchpad.
3.2.2
Use
Groups are a collector to assign SAP Fiori Apps to. Once a user is authorized to use an app (as described in the
previous chapter), the app assigned to a Tile Group shows up in the Launchpad directly. Depending of the group
settings, the user may add or remove apps to a group via personalization, or he is not allowed to change the group
at all.
Procedure
1.
2.
3.
To create a new Group, choose the + icon in the bottom left area.
4.
5.
Properties: A Tile Group needs to be assigned to one or more Catalogs. Once the Locked group flag is
selected the end users cannot add or delete apps to this group.
Layout.
Result
The end user sees the group directly on the SAP Fiori Launchpad.
Note
The personalization of a group can be reset by the users any time. They just need to open the
Personalization Home Page and then choose Reset in the upper right corner of the group.
3.2.3
Manage Translations
Use
Using the translation app, you can translate the created group, categories, and so on in the end users' languages.
Caution
The SAP Fiori Cloud Edition provides translations to the SAP Fiori apps.
Please be aware that if you upload your own translations, you will override the default translations for the
uploaded language.

The App Tile wizard enable you to maintain the central parameters for the Fiori apps to be used in the Fiori
Launchpad. The Apps view is intended to give you a quick overview on all configured apps so far. The Create App
Tile Wizard app is a wizard which helps you to create new app tiles (this is relevant if you, for example, extend an
app). Once configured in this wizard, the result shows up in the Apps area.
Note
Since there are more parameters than described here, please check the product documentation for more
information.

Example
You can easily embed a URL of your choice, i.e. to your portal. Choose type URL in this case and maintain
the URL in the URL area.
Tile:
SAP delivered apps are usually of type Static App Launcher or Dynamic App Launcher. The only difference is that
Dynamic App Launcher displays a number in the tile - which is derived via an oData call in the backend system.
This is used for apps showing how many work items are there in the backend. Another example is the app
Configure Apps in the Site Settings where the number of available apps is displayed.
Example
To proceed with the URL example: choose Static App Launcher. Enter a Title and choose an Icon (if you
have your own icons available, you can upload your own ttf files).
