Historical Market Data Retrieval Spreadsheet

Intent
This spreadsheet allows retrieval of closing daily, weekly, or monthly prices from Yahoo's historical
server. The spreadsheet organizes data in a format convenient for further analytical manipulation.
Instructions
The workbook has three data retrieval worksheets:
(Note: pjponzo removed one - it kept giving error messages.)
* HistData worksheet allows you to retrieve daily, weekly, or monthly closing prices
* Quotes worksheet allows you to retrieve various real-time quotes

To use any of these worksheets you will need to make sure that http://chart.yahoo.com is accessible
from your computer using Microsoft Internet Explorer (Excel uses Explorer as an Internet engine).
In order to request multiple data sets make a copy of any of the data retrieval worksheet, change
input parameters, and re-request the data.
Following are the instructions for individual worksheets:
HistData Worksheet
* enter start date and end date of an appropriate time interval
* select daily, weekly, or monthly period
* enter ticker symbols into consecutive cells next to the Date cell
* hit "Get Historical Data" button
Quotes Worksheet
* enter ticker symbols in a row next to the "Symbol" label
* enter relevant quote elements in the column below "Quote Element" label
* hit "Get Quotes" button
