Application from John 3:22-36

1. Confess any hint of a party-spirit which prizes certain
teachers and ministries over love for Christ. We should
indeed be thankful of teachers whom the Lord has used in
our lives (Heb 13:7), but when these allegiances become
reasons to divide ourselves from joyful fellowship from
other Christians, we often look like Johns disciples in yesterdays text.

The practice of praying scripture has been taught by many. Take a

passage of scripture, read it, and turn it back to the Lord in a prayer.
Martin Luther taught that every passage of scripture can be turned into
prayer in four ways. The Four Strands of Turning Scripture into Prayer
As taught by Martin Luther:
1.Acknowledge the Lesson 2.Give Thanks for the Truth 3.Confess your
own Failures 4.Seek Help in this regard
Read the passage. Acknowledge to the Lord that this text contains a
truth for you to learn. Thank the Lord that He has revealed this truth to
you which you may otherwise have been ignorant of. Recognize that
this passage also shines a light on ways that each of us have failed to
perfectly live in accord with its truth, and take the time to ask God to
forgive you for the ways that has occurred in your life. Finally, ask the
Lord to help you and strengthen you, to give you wisdom and the inner
personal motivation to live in light of this truth and to fulfill its call on
your life. Take the time now to pray through a passage like Gal 5:22-23
or Exod 20:1-17 or Col 3:1-4.

2. Pray for churches in Prescott (including our own) to be

faithful to the gospel and the Word of God. Pray that the
Lord would give them increased influence as they are
faithful to the Scriptures.
3. Thank the Lord for salvation from His wrath.
4. Ask the Lord to make you faithful in teaching people
about true faith in Christ.

Tuesday

Thursday

Bible Reading: Mark 2:18-28; 1 Corinthians 6:1-11; Psalm 78:1-39; Joshua 15-17

Bible Reading: Mark 3:20-35; 1 Corinthians 7:1-16; Psalm 79; Joshua 20-21

1 Cor 6:7 calls a believer in a certain circumstance to suffer wrong. Jesus suffered wrong repeatedly during His
incarnation (Mark 15:3-5). To be sure there are times to
defend oneself or to appeal a decision. However, in a day
where selfishness reigns and people believe that everything is a right, Christians often do a poor job of suffering
wrong. Not every way weve been wronged will be made
right prior to the final judgment (Rom 12:18-20). Confess
to the Lord if your pride makes you feel like you always
need to be treated fairly. Ask the Lord for wisdom in determining when to simply leave room for His justice rather
than seeking out your own.

In 1 Cor 11:1, Paul tells the Corinthians, Follow me as I follow Christ.

This is the heart cry of every true believer. The believer is
not content simply to follow Christ on their own. Rather,
having seen the beauty and the wonder of our Savior, the
true believer calls out to others on the path to run alongside them. Moreover, the true believer has a life worthy
of emulation. They are able to say to others, follow me. I
know the way. I am running after the Savior. You are safe
to run the way that I am running.
Stop. Pause. Reflect. Am I asking other people to follow
me as I follow Christ? Who? Am I delighting in Christ so
greatly that I cant help but to call others to do the same?
Is my life worthy of emulation? Can I tell people to do what
I do? To live the way I live? To practice the same habits I
have of bible study and prayer and fellowship? What ways
could I grow as an example?
