Bills Blog
Welcome to the first magazine for the 2010 season. Want to welcome Paul Wray as our new
magazine editor. After 10 years Karyn has passed the pen over to Paul.
Thank you Karyn for all the effort that you have put in this magazine over this period.
We will again be fielding 45 sides with over 700 players this year. We will be fielding six under
6’s sides for the first time in many years and we will also have two under 19’s sides for the first
time ever at St Clair.
PLAYERS NEEDED for the under 7’s and under 11’s age group.
If you know any players that are looking for a game let us know.
CONGRATULATIONS TO DIANNE RIELLY
Dianne was selected as the NSW March volunteer of the month by the NSW Rugby League for
all the hard work that she has put in this year already. We all know how hard you have worked
looking after the canteen and the clothing at the same time. On behalf of the club thank you for
putting in so much as a volunteer.
THANK YOU also to a number of people who have been a great help so far this year.
Dave Walsh and Doug Robertson for marking the car park and the ground Maintenance.
John Humphries for the canteen updates.
Noel Rielly for the weekly raffles (sometimes they seem daily) at the Blue Cattle Dog
Russell Eagle who has put in so much time to help Dianne with the canteen and the ground
raffles.
All the helpers on the BBQ and in the canteen during the trials.
And lastly Darren Mudford, I do not believe that people know how much time he spends on
getting all the players registered, thanks Muddy.
JERSEYS. As most would be aware by now, we have gone to a different material for our jerseys
this year. This new material is stronger, lighter no numbers falling off and made in Australia.
Whenever there is a change there is always a transmission year and it is no different here. Because
we carry up to 400 jerseys in stock all the time we have to use them first before we can use these
new material jerseys. As a consequence every team has a mixture of both materials in their jersey
kit. It could not be helped.
SPONSORS. Still 10 teams without a sponsor. If anybody has any leads with a possible sponsor
please let us know so as we can follow that up
NEXT MEETING. Our next monthly meeting is on Wednesday 21st April at 7.30 at the RSL. All
teams must be represented.
TRAINING. Drinking alcohol at the training grounds is unacceptable. Please refrain from
bringing alcohol to the grounds while training is in progress.
TROUBLE PARENTS. Parents who want to cause trouble are not welcome here. We have
already shown the door to 2 parents and the season has not started. We are here for the kids
enjoyment. The coaching staff will try and do the best they can to teach the players the skills
required. Do not be one of those parents that think they can do a better job but never put their
hand up to do it. Always need more people to help. Sitting on the side line bagging the Club and
the committee is not a good look either. If you have a problem please talk to your coach and if
that fails send me an email and will try and sort the issue. In the meantime enjoy the 2010 season.

JUDICIARY REPORT

This season we will have a new section in the magazine informing everyone of the charges that
come before the Penrith Junior League Judiciary. Over the last few years the judiciary has become
tougher and the code of conduct especially has serious penalties for those that break the rules. We
hope by showing the suspensions here it will keep everyone conscious of their responsibilities
when they are representing our great club. While we cant name clubs or people we will name the
age group, the charge and the suspension. So far from the trials the Judiciary has already been
busy. We are glad to report St Clair have not been involved so far

UNDER 6/3’s VS St Marys Won 18-10

Firstly a huge thanks to Sloys Harness Racing for their support and sponsorship for the upcoming
season, it is greatly appreciated and the boys looked fantastic in their personalized jerseys.
For a group of kids that still are learning what each others names are and only fielding two boys
who have played previously, all I can say is WOW. Only 6 weeks ago some of these kids were
intimidated by the tackle bags and we only hoped for the best after a big lose to St Mary's in the
trails. Today we saw their best. Every boy has improved out of sight. They are listening at
training, learning the game and genuinely seem to be enjoying themselves as a result.
The game started with St Marys attacking for the majority of the first 10 minutes but the
determination and defence of Jonathon, C.J and Rieley stopped them at every attempt. Then with
the first of his two tries Kane streaked away to score and then convert his own try. Ethan and
Junior also scored super tries that were from well inside our own half.
We raced to an 18-0 lead on the back of good passing from Albert and Jett. Lachlan, Joel and
Kiarne had some big runs and were unlucky themselves not to score.
In the last three minutes St Mary's came back and scored two late tries to make the score look a
little closer than it should have been, however as a coach I could not have been prouder of our
boys and look forward to the rest of the year. Well done boys.
P.S A big thank you to the parents who turned up to field duties

First I would like to thank our sponsor BERRIMAN CONSTRUCTIONS P/L ( You name it
we build it ) for coming on board for 2010, also I would like to welcome the players and parents
to the team and hopefully have a fun and successful year.
Today we played our first game of the year against St Marys at home ( Peppertree ). The game
showed that the boys have a lot to learn and hopefully by the end of season we will have taught
them the basic's of the game and should see a big improvement. All the boys,  William, Brodie,
Kian, Kyan, Brady, Blake, Jake, and Jarrod tried hard all game,  running and tackling anything
in their sight. Well done boys (A big high five for everyone ). Man of the Match went to
Sabastien scoring 3 tries and also defended well, good on you buddy. To Bailey who has been
sick,  hope to see you back soon. To our manager Michelle thank you for putting your hand up to
assist us throughout the season.

UNDER 14/2’s VS Glenmore Park Won 12-4

I would again like to welcome everyone into our team. Firstly I would like to thank Leo from
Cucinotta Racing for our jersey sponsorship for this year, to Colin of Aitken Engineering
Sydney (shirts) and to Dave of Prestige Carpet Cleaning (shorts) for their generous support of
the team this year. After a long trial period we finally got to play our first game. As requested,
most of us turned up in uniform which was good to see. It certainly lifts the image of the team.
With 15 players available, we took on a bigger opposition but this did deter the guys. We spoke
prior to the game of what was required and then you all went out and did exactly that, well done
boys! We showed courage and determination early as Glenmore Park applied pressure on us deep
in our red zone, with good defence by Jye, Aaron, Wade, Matt and Brandon, until they scored the
first try. From there we seamed to lift and this resulted in good attacking runs from Corrie, Reece
and Thomas, and one in particular down the Left side by Jake then Jack. We again attacked their
line down the right side but a wrong option resulted in a missed opportunity. A good kick into the
Right corner was unlucky not to result in a try as well as Zac J had a great chase. Further
attacking down their end resulted in a Kyle pass to Jesse who crossed over untouched, conversion
by Kyle. After the half time break we continued attacking as we had in the first half, two good
sets brought us deep into their red zone where a clever offload from Thomas saw Aaron cross
over under the posts, the try converted by Kyle. We showed how determined we were to keep
Glenmore away from our line, with Blake and Zac M standouts, we tackled for almost three
straight sets, 15 tackles, stopping everything they threw at us. Everyone did their bit. Well done
boys that was a tremendous effort!! Obviously this solid defence took its toll on the boys as all
were very tired as we came off after the game. Tries; Jesse and Aaron, Goals; Kyle x2. Man of the
match went to Thomas. Thank you to Stephen for running the line and to Andrew, Cheyne &
Luke. Congratulations must go to Blake Johnson for playing his 100th game today.
Dave Felice has generously offered a 10% discount to anyone who has their carpets cleaned
and mentions our team 14/2’s, his generousity is extended further with an offer to pass that
same 10% onto the team, so get the word out there to use Prestige Carpet Cleaning!
Thanks again Dave.

Thankyou to our sponsors this year C & J Transmissions and 123 Photos great to have
you board with St Clair this season. Also thankyou to Rick for helping out on the BBQ
for field duties for our team. So our first game for the season what can I say. All the
kids tried hard though plenty of efforts and mistakes were made. Its always hard to
come back after a weeks break and big win in the prior game. On the day the more
experienced team won. Though guys you are certainly pulling efforts out of the bag
against teams like this. We had 2 great tries from Sabian and Logan plus a good effort at
goal from Logan and Ben. Some big tackles took place during the game unfortunately
not enough to get us over the finish line but we will try again next week. Can’t win
them all. All round good effort we are improving each week as we go along. We just
need to pay a little more attention to the game and get back into our positions quicker.
Nathan, Ayden, Michaela and James great running tactics and tackles keep it up. Ethan
again great in Dummy Half

UNDER 7/3’s VS St Marys Drew 10 all

First I would like to thank our sponsors Frankham Engineering & Cornwalls Leaflets for
coming onboard for the 2010 season. Todays game was very defence based due to a combination
of both teams being good at moving up with speed and a referee that didn’t police the rules and
letting the kids move up before the first receiver got the ball, as a result the defence was on top of
the runners before they had a chance. The first period finished without a try being scored and the
signs were it would be a lows scoring game. The second period both teams attacked more and
after some great hard runs from Man of the Match Harry to give us great field position Jack
crossed for his first try and converted to give us a 6-4 lead going into the last period.
The last period was very controversial with 2 decisions costing the team victory. The first came
from a break Ethan made down the sideline when he was shoved in the back over the sideline.
The inexperienced referee rightly blew the whistle and awarded a penalty however after talking to
the St Marys player that infringed, the referee got a little confused and raised his arm in the wrong
direction giving St Marys the penalty. St Marys then scored from the tap and we were heading to
the last few minutes at 10 all. After some good pressure in defence the boys won possession in
good position with enough time for one set. Harry went close to the line with another great run
and then Nathan was also stopped a metre short the next tackle. As the ball was played the hooter
sounded and we had one last play, Jack busted through to score the match winner and it looked to
everyone like we had won the game however the referee ruled he had put his foot over the dead
ball line before he grounded it and disallowed the try. Still a draw is better than a loss and the
signs are there that this team will be vey competitive this season. Special mentions this week also
for Kobe who has improved every week especially his ball security and involvement and Blade
who was great in defence and bravely battled on after a couple of heavy knocks looked like he
may need to be replaced early.
REMINDER to all the parents to keep collecting for the Tacklathon. We would like to take the
boys to State of Origin so we need the monies to be handed in on time on May 1 st or we may miss
out on getting the tickets in time.

UNDER 13/2’s VS Windsor Won 50-0
A BIG Welcome everybody to season 2010. The 13/2’s and their families would firstly like to
‘Thank’ our Major Sponsor for this season, Nicky Myers & Melina Yadkarian from ‘PINNACLE
LOGISTICS’, for coming on board and supporting the team. Your help and sponsorship is
greatly appreciated by all the boys and their families. Round 1 for the season saw the 13/2’s take
on Windsor at Windsor, and what a way to start the season. As the Coach, I was a little wary of
the Windsor team. We had played them in our last trial game and beat them quite comfortably.
This always worries me as I have seen this situation happen before over the years, where a team
gets complacent after beating a team the previous week, they then turn up to their next
confrontation and find themselves quite embarrassed. This however, was not the situation for the
13/2’s. The boys were totally focused on the job at hand, and also had extra inspiration in playing
hard for their two team-mates who both lost close family members in just the last couple of
months. Our thoughts go out to Snyder & his Family and also Kyale and his Family. The 13/2’s
dominated from the kick-off which set the foundations for the remainder of the game. The Comets
were brutal in defence and un-stoppable in attack. It was great to see the boys attend to the game
plan when needed which led into some entertaining and enterprising footy. Rocko & Snyder led
the team around the paddock extremely well, which allowed our forwards to run riot and the
backline to sizzle throughout the game. The 13/2’s were far superior in every aspect of the game
which shows in the end score line. There were no stand-out performers today as every single
player, played to the potential we know they are capable of. I will mention some outstanding
statistics though: Elie Estephan – 3 trys, 5 hit-ups for 155 mtrs, Ben Wright - 2 trys, 6 hit-ups for
90 mtrs and Jack Lucas – 4 hit-ups for 105 mtrs. Snyder Epati and Kyale D’Sena topped the
tackle count with Dion (El-Masri) Rasmussen kicking 4 from 5 attempts. Elie Estephan won the

UNDER 6/4s VS Emu Plains Won 36 - 4

Well done boys, it was a very impressive start to the 2010 season for the U6/4s, with a
very great 36 - 4 win over Emu Plains. The boys did everything that they have been
training to do over the last few weeks, with a great show of defence, running and their
formation around the play the ball, and for a team of beginners they made their win look
easy. For a little guy who says very little, Ben Mataafa, was a stand out in both attack
and defence. Also a big thanks to Drew Tomkin for being the ref for todays game.

UNDER 7/1’s VS Doonside Lost 24-28
Thankyou David & Kelly from Royal Flush Plumbing for coming on board again as our Gold
sponsor, & welcome to Michelle from Laingy’s Catering who are our silver sponsor for 2010. It
was a good game to start our season off even though the win just slipped away from us. I’m sure
next time we will have improved enough to control the ball for our full set as well as move up as a
team, in a line, which will prevent any gaps for their fast player (who scored 3 tries) to step
through. Considering we have only learnt our colour system for attacking over this last week, I
think it worked a lot better then the numbers system that we have been using in the trials, and
after a bit more practice things will run a lot smoother. Bailey topped the tackle count today with
7 tackles & scored a fast try. He always gets to his dummy half position quickly & gives good
quality ball making him one of our most important players. Corey had a bit of a quiet game
compared to his trial games in defence, but even though the opposition were up on him fast when
it was his run, he never gave up, trying to take every step he could towards the try line. Ezra
equalled the 2nd highest count with 5 tackles & moved up when the opposition’s halfback received
the ball, which was something I asked the team to concentrate on, and his running is always
through the middle which is where I would rather it be. Jack Starr trained a lot better this week,
which showed in today’s game. He made 4 tackles, scored a try and kicked a goal. He has also
showed that he has a very smart football brain, by filling in when our halves can’t get into
position. Jack Sullivan gets better every time he plays. He scored 2 tries and kicked a goal, which
is what he did all year in 2009, but best of all he is getting more confident with his tackling using
his shoulder a lot more often. Jacob was unlucky not to get an award today; he made 5 tackles
and ran better than I’ve ever seen him, straight through the middle. Keep it up Jacob, as weekly
points for the end of year trophies don’t always go to our award winner’s mate. Jayden had a
very quiet game in defence, especially compared to last weeks trial, however his running has
improved out of sight considering he doesn’t get too many runs from his position. Kye always
trains his hardest which really shows in his game. He made 5 tackles and scored a great individual
try. He is very smart and is a great organiser on the field, one of our best today. Mason has learnt
over the last couple of weeks that he makes much more ground up through the middle using his
strong palm offs. Now he just has to start moving up in defence to make a few more tackles and
he will be a very important part of our result. Silas may have only made a couple of tackles today,
but that was only because the opposition was too scared to run near him. His runs were damaging
as always usually taking half the team to get him down. One of best in all trial games too. Tayte
always listens at training which will make him learn faster than most others. He tackles low and
uses his shoulder, and runs fast and hard with great footwork. A few more try saving tackles mate
and you may just win us a game or 2 all by yourself. Tyrell had to wait a while before his 1st run
due to us offloading too much and losing the ball on the 1 st and 2nd tackles, but he equalled the 2 nd
highest count with 5 tackles and is getting back to the damaging player he showed us
last year. Keep the talk up mate.

Man of the Match award sponsored by Dave'll Do It Handy Man Services.
Today we travelled to Kareela Reserve to play Blacktown City. We mercied Blacktown 62-0
with 12 minutes to go in the second half, today's hit out was mainly so the boys can gel
as a team & do the basics right to kick of the completion. The opposition struggled with
U16 players filling in which the score line indicated. The boys stuck to there game plan
& over all it was a solid performance with a few things to work on but over all GOOD

The 15/2’s greatly appreciate the support from our sponsors “The Clean Plumber” and “JKE
Shade Sails”, and the support from Mick at “Matthews Quality Meat – St Clair”. The preseason
lead us to believe that this year we had something special within the team and on the weekend
there was a little bit of this. From the start the team listen to what Geoff had to say and we pinned
them down in their own half. From the next set of tackles we had scored, so after 5 mins we were
up 4 nil. This was going to be the ongoing occurrence for the day. The forwards were making
easy yards up the middle and on the fringe which allowed the backs to weave some magic. Some
great ball work and back line moves poured on the points and by half time it was 40 – Nil. A few
handling errors still need to be worked on but it will come with training. Some great
performances by Jesse (man of the Match) Riley Naihi Liam and Jalay. Try scorers were Tipene
x 2, Riley x 2 and Tala x 2 and shamus, Ben, Zac, and Jesse all picking up a try and Riley kicking
5 from 9. This weeks Raffle winner of the Meat Tray from Matthews Quality Meats was Luke
Mulligan.
Great first up effort by all the team and well done. Thanks to all the parents who assisted on the
day and again our sponsors.

UNDER 11/4’s VS St Marys Lost 54-0

With the season official started the boys ran into a very good St Mary’s side with some really big
boys in their team. The first half was all one-way traffic with our boys only getting one set of 6
for the whole 20 minutes. We really struggled to tackle the fast moving forwards from St Mary’s
and the half time score was 38 – 0. Daniel, Dylan and Josh put in big efforts in defense but could
not stem the flow of tries from St Mary’s. Cullen also made a couple of good tackles before
coming off injured. After a big rev up at the half time break we managed to force a few mistakes
and get some possession and made good meter’s through some good runs from Lachlan, Matty
and Michael. Denis and Kevin did their best to slow the big boys down and Jack really tried to get
down low and take out the legs of their forwards. Trent did a great job at dummy half, in one of
his first games in this position, making sure he was in the right position at all times. Whilst we
didn’t manage to get any points on the board we did slow their scoring down a lot compared to
the first half. Our efforts we not enough however and the game was stopped about 10 mins into
the 2nd half. Although the boys tried hard our defense let us down but we will work hard on it over
the coming weeks to get it right. Man of the match was Josh for some great one on one tackles on
some big boys, Tackling award went to Daniel with 9 tackles (Dylan a close 2 nd on 8), Parents
pick award went to Jack who never stopped the whole game and the most improved went to
Lachlan who made some great tackles, assisted in a lot of tackles and made some good runs. A
bid thanks to Daniel Kelly from the 10/3s who came up to help us as we were short of players –
He was one of the best on field in the 2nd half. With some hard work on our defense this week we
look forward to the game on the weekend and hopefully a better result.

Welcome players and parents to the 2010 season. How quickly did that come around? Welcome
aboard to our new sponsor Jeff Croft Plumbing.Your support is greatly appreciated. Our team
this season is Zac, Lachlan, Coby, Flynn, Thomas, Brandy, Peter, Xavier, Baeley, Luke & Harley.
Not a win but a pretty good start to the year. Three tries each but we couldn’t kick a goal. A very
even game that was kept exciting by the closeness of the score. Especially the last 5 mins when
the game could have gone either way. We took an early lead with Lachlan diving over from
dummy half, but they hit back almost immediately to lead 6 - 4. Good work by both teams saw
the ball go from one end to the other but they slipped over for another try to lead 12 - 4 at the
break. A good second section with us being caught by their last defender several times. Thomas
crashed over for a good try but still no goal. We got out paced for them to score again but never
gave up. Thomas scored again to make it 18 / 12 but we just couldn,t cross again in the last few
minutes. All in all a good game and also good to watch. I was pleased with it as I think everyone
would be. A few things to work on at training and we will give it another go next Saturday.

Firstly we would like to say a big thank you to our sponsors N & L Murray Concreting - thanks
for coming on board to support the boys for the 2010 season.
We started off a bit slow in this game. At the 10 minute mark we were down 12-0 and I
was beginning to think we were up for a big loss until REUBEN took the ball near their
line, leg pumping his way over for our first try.
ETHAN scored next after a one handed offload from JOEL, one of the two tries he
scored in the game. RILEY scored just before half-time making us ahead 18-12 at the
break.
In the second half BRENDON came on and pulled off some strong tackles, with BILLY
and BRAYDEN, our two smallest players, taking down some of their biggest players in
one on one tackles.
RYAN and AARON repeatedly ran hard up the middle making some large yards, with
DANIEL doing some side-stepping runs, making the way for JOSH and ZAC to score a
try each. ZION passed well from 1st receiver.
Man of the Match was Ethan Humphries.
All in all a great effort boys. See if next week that you all put into practise what you are
taught at training.

Hello and welcome to the 2010 season. We have 2 new boys join our team Antoine (A.J)
Moananu and Bradley (Blocker) Middlebrook all the best playing for the mighty Comets boys.
We also have a new sponsor join us this year STIR CRAZY Noodle Bar 9670-2277 which is
located in the Erskine Park Shopping centre. On behalf of everyone involved with the team I
would like to thank Mike Creighton for his generous support of this great side. Now to the action.
The only way to describe the game is like a yo-yo up and down, up and down. The boys started
the game very well the running was straight and the defence was tight. Before we knew it, it was
12-0 the first try was created by Azza who drew the defence and put Logan away who showed us
his pace to score in the corner a top try. AJ busted through the defence to score a nice try showing
us his strength. 12-0 seems to be a curse for us so many times we have hit this score line and we
seem to switch off but I did think after the last 2 trials we were over this. All of a sudden we were
dropping the ball, pushing passes and running sideways. We gave the ball back to them about 10
times and if it wasn’t for our solid defence we could have been behind at half time instead of 12-
12. The second half was similar to the first but not as bad again we scored 12 points but this time
we only let in 6. Rock and Sal scored powerful trys and Troy stepped through to score a try right
on full time. Good things to come out of the game were our defence and our ability to kick ahead
even when we are not playing at our best. Our forwards showed that they can dominate even
though they started going a little sideways at times and the backs were linking up and with more
time will develop some good combinations. Aydos and Jeri in the halves formed a good
combination and were always in position, well done boys. Tackle of the Week went to Zach for a
big front on tackle early in the game and kept it going. Pizza Award went to Logan who had a
good all round game his defence was fantastic and he linked really well with Azza well done
buddy. The STIR CRAZY Noodle Bar Players Player Award went to Zach who ran straight and
hard every time and didn’t hang back in defence he was up in the line and put in a big effort. Zach
you have to keep that effort up every game and I am sure you can buddy. OK boys lets turn up for
Glenmore Park on Saturday cut our mistakes out and show them how good the STIR CRAZY
COMETS really are! Thanks to Pisa and Jason for running the line and to Tony for a good job on
the table. Until next week GO COMETS!!

UNDER 8/4s VS Glenmore Park Lost 24-16

Firstly i would like to thank Des Long for donating the Man of the Match Trophies and The
Tackler of the Week Trophy for the boys.
Our first game of the year was against Glenmore Park at Peppertree. The boys got off to a flying
start with a quick try  to MATTHEW. When KEVIN busted through a short time later we were up
8 nil. Glenmore Park hit back with two quick tries converting one to go to the break down 10 - 8.
In the second period the magnets on the sidelines kicked in and we kept running out handing
possesion back to Glemore Park. We tackled well but they scored two tries converting one. We
went into the final break trailing 20 - 8.
The last period saw the boys rally with great defence and attack. MICHAEL charged over with 6
minutes to go to get us back in the hunt. When MATTHEW scored shortly after that their lead
was down to 4 points. On our last attacking raid the siren sounded so the boys started offloading
at will. Unluckily the ball hit the deck and Glenmore Park raced away to score.
The final score was 24 - 16 but we were so proud of how the boys fought back and were in it right
to the end.
Highlights of the match were the four tries by MATTHEW x 2, KEVIN and MICHAEL.
The defence by ROBERT, MATTHEW, KEVIN and DEONDRE. Great busting runs by ZANE,
DJ, LIAM and MICHAEL and great dummy half and first receiver play by ROBERT & RILEE.
Man of the Match went to ROBERT for his dummy half play and great tackling.
Tackler of the Week went to KEVIN for never giving up in defence. On one occasion
chasing someone down the length of the field to save a try.
The Pizza award went to MICHAEL for his great try under the posts.

Firstly I would like to thank Craig Harthog for organising our team sponsor Blacktown

being our first comp game. All the boys turned up to play and what a good game it was. The boys
defence was very tight and ball handling was good. The first ten Jai and Daniel played dummy
half and first receiver with great results. With some good runs from Dylan, Luke and Tainui. First
try went too Joshua then Jai scored the second from dummy half. The defence from all the boys
was great. The second ten Dylan and Tainui controlled the dummy half and first receiver with
great success to allow all the boys to have runs. Jacob and Justin tackling well. The last ten Luke
and Josh controlled dummy half and first receiver and also done a fine job. Jaiden and Hayden
defending really well in the last ten to stop some certain tries. All and all for our first game you
couldn’t ask for any better. All the training we’ve been doing has paid off. A special thanks to

UNDER 11/1’s VS Western City Tigers Lost 12-30

To Deborah and David Richards from Australian Real Estate at St Clair thank you once again
for your continued support for our boys; you are the best and welcome to the start of a brand new
season. What a game to kick-off 2010 with a tough match up against last year’s Premiers. It was
always going to be a physical game with the Tigers big forwards which gave us a lot of tackling
practice by the end of the match. But let’s analyse our performance for a moment and forget the
final score as it does detract from the effort our boys came up with. We now have 6 new players
in the side this year and only 2 trial matches to get the boys settled in. This is a whole new team
but with a lot of natural talent and the coaching staff is very proud of each and every player. In
fact the new players played outstanding football and it may be the case that the boys from last
year’s team may have to blend in with the new players rather than the other way around. Jarryd
Tucker playing not only his first game in Div 1 but his first game in Rugby League having been
converted from Soccer; was outstanding. I think his name will be mentioned many times this year.
Ricky Robinson, Bailey Knoll and Branden Alauni worked tirelessly in the forwards in both
attack and defence and Andre Sultana and Jason Middlebrook proved they are also worthy of
being Division 1 players. Well done to our new guys and once again welcome to the team. Josh
Wright scored our first try for the season with a snappy four pointer from dummy half and
followed that up with a solid game in defence. Zane Long made an enormous impact coming on
for the second half and was rewarded with a try to keep our score line respectable. Will Allison’s
contribution to the team was enormous with his distribution to the backline and his kicking on the
last tackle. Will’s combination with Josh at dummy half is not to be overlooked and they will
continue to develop into a very formidable pair. Our Captain Zach Borg is another to be praised
with a solid workload in defence and I think the decision to appoint him as the leader is perfect as
he leads by example, congratulations Zach we will look to you for inspiration this year.
Heads up, be proud, we have a lot of work to do and a long way to go.

boys each week, it is much appreciated. Today we came up against Emu plains who had
come up from 2nd division last year. After some outstanding performances in the trials
and working really hard at training our boys were raring to go. Despite completly
dominating the oppositon early the score was kept close before our finished them off for
a great first up victory. Aidan was brilliant today leading the way with non stop defence
and also scored a well deserved try. Joe in his first game was unstoppable with strong
running and bruising defence. Jacko showed how big and strong he his making lots of
breaks up the middle. Rabbitt and speedy were too fast for the opposition making breaks
whenever they wanted. Nugget and Diddy were brilliant at dummy half giving great
service allowing us to get on top. Tyler and Jayden worked hard all day making
important takles and were hard stop with the footy. Rylan monstered teh opposition both
in attack and defence. Great win boys and if you keep up the hard work at training im

were made by Jack, Jake, Haydon, Steven, Dylan, Braydon, Loch, Clay, Ben. Each boy
tackled their hearts our and its hard to tell who tackled more, they were all fantastic. The second
half proved to be a bit of a work out but the boys defended well. We made mistakes but we came
back and attacked. Brendan, Jonah, Mitch and Reece all had a fantastic game. Tries were
scored by Brendan, (2), Jack (1), Ben (2), Dylan, (1), Jake (1), Clay (2) and goals were kicked by

Round 1 - BYE
Luke Priddis Cup Winners
The 13/1’s travelled down to Canberra to contest the Luke Priddis Cup at Woden on Sunday 11 th
April. Our first pool game saw us take on the Valley Dragons from Canberra. The first game was
always going to be a tough, and even though we didn’t play our best football, defensively we
were great resulting in a 12-0 win. Cody and Crocker scored the tries with Cody kicking 2/2. In
our second game we took on Belconnen United and we improved from our first game winning 20-
0. Jarrod Wall, Wardy, R.J and Tjadyn scored the tries with Cody kicking 2/4. Our last pool game
was against Gunghalin Bulls, with the winner going through to the Semi Finals. Gunghalin won
the 1st Division comp in Canberra in 2009 so this was going to be a tough game. But the Comets
showed their class with some great attack and punishing defence to win 18-4. R.J, Crocker and
Arron scored the tries with Cody kicking 3/3. This left us qualifying first overall with a positive
point’s differential of 46 points. In the Semi Final we played a different Valley Dragons team.
From the opening whistle the boys’ dominated to score an impressive 40-0 victory and book a
spot in the Grand Final. The Grand Final saw us take on Queanbeyan United in a 20 minute each
way game with previous games only being 10 minutes each way. Once again we dominated from
the start with the boys’ very committed to get the job done. The end result was a victory to the
Comets 32-4 and the Luke Priddis Cup for 2010 was ours! Elie scored 2 tries in the final with
Malton, Wardy, Cody and Brownie scoring one try each. Cody kicked 3 goals while Brucey
kicked 1 goal. Dylan Bruce was named Player of the Final for his outstanding performance. I
would like to thank Elie from the 13/2’s who came down with the team and performed
outstandingly, well done mate!! Outstanding effort to all 18 boys who took part, you played some
great footy and dominated with a for of 122 and only 8 points against in 5 games! Thank you to

UNDER 11/2’s VS West Tigers Won 50-0

The St Clair Comets under 11/2s are proudly sponsored by FOODWORKS St Clair. Firstly I
would like to welcome all players, parents and sponsors on board to what should be another great
season of action packed footy. Today was our first official match of the year which we hosted at
Peppertree against the West Tigers. The first half consisted of 38 points on the scoreboard. From
the word go we had control of the ball with Thomas scoring in the opening minute soon followed
by a barging Ricky to bag 2 tries within 2 mins of each other with both tries being successfully
converted by Kalani and Bailey. Kalani was next to cross the line finding a small gap in the tigers
defence with Ryan successful with the boot. Mitch Riley took a few hits however managed to stay
consistent topping the hitups tally. Benny was next to step up running the length of the field to
score a marvellous try which was then successfully converted by Josh. Kalani was then bound for
the line late in the first half getting a double for the day with a successful conversion from Kyle.
The second half bought a few minor errors but the boys managed to stay persistent. Bayley
continued to lead the team around the park in the right direction weaving through Tigers to brand
his own try. Lachlan was successful with the two points. Tigers griped the ball for a few sets
except for some individual courage from perhaps the smallest player in our team Kyle tackling
tiger’s biggest player one on one; he was able to force the error, dash down the sideline only to be
caught and do exactly the same thing again later on in the second half. Josh our 5/8 was last to
score in the match making a break at half way with Mitch Eckford to convert to seal the match off
at mercy rule with 10 minutes to go. Man of the match today went to Ricky. Player of the day
went to Benny. Best Tackler went to Kyle and Pizza award went to Bayley. Scoreboard: Ricky x
3, Kalani x 2, Benny x 1, Thomas x 1, Bayley x 1, Josh x 1.Conversions: Kalani x 1, Bayley x 1,

game of the season.  The weather turned out to be very hot and by the time our 11.50am kick off
came around it was defiantly going to be a good but tough game.  Manning up to a team which
towered us for size our boys really stood up.  During the first half the forwards dominated the
middle of the field.   With constant pressure being built in the 1st half by our defence and ball
running it saw us have a hefty lead at half time, thanks to tries from Jack (x2), Montell(x1),
Tairongo (x1), Jacob F (x1) which gave us a lead going into the break of 28-0.  Through this half
our forwards really put it on with big hits consistently coming from our forwards and lead by Big
Josh in the middle, with the ball hitting our centres with slicing plays from Joey & Jacob F
(Snakey).  Our defence line looked sharp with Braydon ensuring the boys stayed honest in the line
and our wingers working hard to offer support on bringing the ball back.  Second half also started
great with all of the boys doing good work with the ball and in defence, but half way through the
second half fatigue really set.  With the heat and the fact that we had 3 boys unable to play it left
our bench with only 1 sub.  We conceded easy tries but still managed 2 great tries with
Davy Iotua scoring a burner down the sideline with footwork and Tairongo powering through the
middle of their team to put on a try with time up on the clock.  The final score ended at 40-20
with our boys taking a lot of experience from the match and plenty of smiles.
I would like to give big thanks all of our sponsors, parents & supporters for all having a great
influence & contribution in this team whether small or big.  Special mention to Tammy our
manager for all of her hard work which we truly appreciate as well as the  we truly appreciate
everything from each and everyone. We hope to see you all at our next game and remember that
this is our St Clair 14/4's.

getting better each and every season, Huge effort as always. “Daniel Egan” bagging 1 try, 3 goals

Firstly I would like to welcome the new players and parents to the team. Hopefully we will have a
very enjoyable season. With a new team and a new sized field there are many things we need to
learn, which was evident in today's game. All the boys gave 100% and I was very pleased with
their efforts. Our defence was much better than in our trial games, but we still need to come
together as a unit. There were some great individual performances in attack and defence. We ran
the ball hard for the whole game but our ball control let us down, we need to learn to complete
our sets. There are a lot of positives to come out of this game and with a bit more luck
with some penalties it may very well have been a different result. Keep up the effort
boys. Hard work at training will show our fortunes change. Well done.

Thank you to all our sponsors. The Blue Cattle Dog, Pirtek Smithfield, Meares Consulting

Mitchell Beggs for scoring a Sunday record 9 tries in today`s game. Now our mighty Comets
only had 13 boys for today`s game and with evey player playing with commitment and
confidance  we  were able  ran away convincing winners  over a firey Emu side . Every player did
their job and I was especially happy with Kaine Boyle and Googles playing full games at prop
and always being keen to work in attack and defence. Co Captains Corey and Tori were their
usual brilliant  selves . Also welcome to Daniel Burford to our team and our club.  Over the next
few weeks we will get a number of our represenitive players back , so today was a great start for
us in what should be a great season . Thank you Chris Ratcliffe for his efforts with our team

Firstly a very big thank you and warm welcome to our team’s major sponsor Tom from
Parramatta Timber Floors for his fantastic support for our team this season. For all your timber
flooring needs Tom and his friendly team can be contacted on 0414913210 or 96706382. Come
on let’s support our sponsor. Well the 2010 season finally got underway today. The
boys have trained well and trialled fairly well in the pre season. This is a brand new
team with 5 players that have never played footy before, one new boy, Brad from
Colyton and the rest basically from our 11/4’s side last year. This week saw our boys
take on St Marys who are always a tough opposition and we knew we were in for a hard
match. Unfortunately our boys continued their non commitment in defence despite
working hard on this in all our training sessions. We need to improve significantly in
our defence if we want to be competitive in this competition this year. We also need to
focus on quicker play the balls, passes and running harder and straighter onto the ball.
Despite the score line there were some very encouraging efforts from some of our boys.
Jason tried very hard all day with some hard running and solid defence. Jay was fearless
in everything he did constantly tackling the biggest boys from St Marys. Mitchell also
had a solid game topping the tackle count and providing good ball from halfback. Our 5
new boys, Jamie, Ryan, Chris, Paul and Steve had good games for their first footy game
ever. It seems that our smallest players are heading the tackle count so we need a much
bigger effort and commitment from our forwards in this area. C’mon boys we know you
can do it. Guess what we are doing at training this week …….. yes TACKLING
DRILLS. A big thank you to Lach, Paul and Matt for being our trainers this year.
Weekly trophies – Man of the match - Jay, best defence – Mitchell and best attack –

Welcome to the 2010 season, lets hope this is the year of the comets as the boys have been
working hard in the off season. We would like to welcome our sponsors for 2010 ERECT SAFE
SCAFFOLDING,TYRE TEAM at ST MARYS & K & K BARWICK TRANSPORT on board
and once again thank them for helping out this year, their support is very generous. Today we
travelled to Cambridge Park to take on last years Grand Finalists in Glenmore Park and as
expected they proved very hard to beat. The effort was there today but I think the boys were
guilty of trying too hard today as we tended to go away from what we had been working on at
training and instead of building pressure we were trying to score off every set and to their credit
their defence was up to the task. This week we need to work hard at training because there are no
easy games in Division 1 and with Brothers this week we need to lift at least 50% to be in the
game. Today's Man of the Match went to ZAC while JAKE got the player's player award. Boys
don't forget the 24th of APRIL is our fund raiser at BUNNING'S and everyone is going to be

THIS WEEK MATCH REPORT: I would like to thank our major sponsors Ed’s Family
Restaurant at the Blue Cattle Dog Hotel and Lite and Easy. A season with good sponsors allows
us to concentrate on our performances on the park. I am confident that we have the players to be a
very competitive football team, we just come up against the form team in the competition in
round 1. Boys as a coach I am disappointed with our ability to transfer our training into game
situations, we must be able to listen and execute at a higher percentage to win games. As I told
you at half time only having the opportunity to hold the ball for 6 sets and completing 2 of those
we could not build any pressure. We are only putting pressure on ourselves and exerting all
energy defending and that is not very fun. I know that each of you are very skilful players but we
each need to play and take responsibility for the team. Remember our Moto boys, Remember our
Name. Heads up and I am sure that the results will come our way and football will be enjoyable
for all. Good luck to all our Injured athletes and have a speedy recovery. 3 points – Jack Lyons,

UNDER 14/3’s VS Emu Plains Loss 12-26
Welcome to all the players, parents and friends to the 2010 season with the under 14/3’s. To date
we are still talking to prospective sponsors and hope to have some good news in this regard very
soon. This week we played Emu Plains at their home ground. To say it was an interesting day is
an understatement; a tragic accident on the M4 meant most of the team were extremely late to the
game, thanks to the Emu Plains guys for delaying the start. A disjointed beginning and a very
poor attendance at training through the week meant we were always going to struggle in round 1.
We started off very slowly and before we knew it was 10-0 down. The boys rallied before the
whistle and managed to score a try which was converted and the half time was 10-6. There was a
sense at the break that things were not right, the chat was poor on the field and lack of team
cohesion was evident, we should have been trailing by a lot more. The second half started like the
first, poor ball control and too much one out, flat footed stuff and they quickly bagged two more
tries to put the game away. We tried hard, but it was too late, although we did score a nice try. We
had more opportunities towards then end of the match but once again, poor options and lack of
time together reflected in our play. We have a lot of work to do and we all realise it. A desire and
commitment to play for each other is still in its infant stage and will need to develop sooner rather
than later if we want to be competitive in this division. As individuals players we have a lot of
talent, Brad Moore tried hard, Harley Rowley and Kayne Parkinson were effective with limited
chances, Hayden Anderson was very good as was Mitchell Maizen at the back. The forwards
were off their game, except for Brad Teariki; BT had a huge game and was deserved winner of
man of the match. It is not all doom and gloom, we should get all our boys back for next week
and with effort at training, hard work on the paddock and a desire to achieve and play as a team,
its onward and upward. After it’s only footy and after the tragic accident on the M4 it really puts
things into perspective, footy is about having fun and enjoying your time with your teammates.
Special thanks to Brad Harper, our injured centre from the trials who turned up and helped out on
the day, it is great to have him around the boys. Finally, congratulations to Luke Hardiman who
played his 100th game for the St.Clair Comets. It is an achievement he should be very proud of
and for one so young it is speaks volume of his commitment to the club and the hard work he and
his parents have put in together to see him achieve this unique milestone, well done Luke.
TRYSCORERS: Brad Moore and Brad Teariki

Firstly I would like to welcome everyone to the 2010 season and thank our major sponsor
WILMEAT CUT MEATS. Mick has backed this team for a number of years and his generosity
is much appreciated by the players and coaching staff. Also on board this year PIRTEK
Smithfield (Chris ), SYDNEY WIDE PIPE CLEANING ( Jeff ) and MD DRUMS ( Mad Dog )
thanks for your support.
This year the 19 2's create history, being the first time the club has entered 2 C Grade teams in the
competition, we would like to thank the COMMITTEE for the opportunity to keep these players
at the comets and hopefully we can repay you with a premiership.  Today we travelled with our
172's to Kareela Reserve to take on Blacktown City, with 19 players available we went in with a
strong squad. We started slowly and struggled to control the ball which made it hard to get out of
own half. Blacktown City had all the field possession and posted the first try to lead 4 - 8 this
seamed to kick us into gear and we hit back with 2 converted tries to lead 12 - 4 at half time. The
second half saw a lot of improvement with better ball control and depth in attack. We were able to
score 3 more tries to city's 1 and led 26 - 4, the boys seemed to go into cruise control with 15
minutes to go and let them hit back with 3 quick tries, Thankfully we hung on to win 26 - 22.
Player's player today went to Grant Bratby polling 80% of votes and ( 3pts ), coaches award went
to James Davies ( 2pts ) and Mushie received ( 1pt ). I would also like to welcome the guys back
to the club that haven't played for the comets for a while but have been given another chance.
Steve, Jeremy, Michael, Mitch R, Tim, Mickey and Springy and the new players Ben, Hayden
and Grant,  combined with players from last year,  its possible they can go all the way. To new
and old parents welcome back.
We are all here to encourage the boys and support them while playing ,  hopefully they will all
enjoy the season and even learn something new. To My coaching staff Paul, Wayne, Ronnie and
Rob HERE WE GO AGAIN. To Gavin and the boys ( 172's ) well done on your first win and to

UNDER 16/2’s VS Rooty Hill Draw 30-30

Our first game of the season was marred with a disruptive week for training but this did not stop
the boys fighting hard right until the final whistle.
The game was evenly matched right from the start with Rooty Hill putting the first points on the
board our boys answered back with Joe swan diving across the line followed by Toma and with
Jhi's conversions to put us in front at the first half. Second half the boys came out a little battered
as the heat was starting to take its toll on a few of the bigger boys, who had worked hard as we
only had 2 reserves  and the Rooty hill side started to gain a little momentum and put a few tries
together to take a hold on the game. Thanks to Mick, Toma and Travis, also some conversions
from Jhi, we were able to finish up with a satisfying draw.
The boys due to the extensive work which in some ways brought on them selves by the poor
control of the football and the lack of fitness from a disruptive week of training in the lead up to
the game, also a part of Rooty Hill getting control of the game was our lack of self control in
situations. The defence of the team was good at times with Travis especially after he chased down
a Rooty Hill player, who he gave at least 30m start to stop a definite try. Matt Hyde was good up
front with Damon and Toma out wide, also Wayne who was playing out of position was good as
he stopped some attacking raids from the opposition.
A promising start to the season with all the boys having a good hit out, and with a full squad on
deck we will no doubt give this competition a good shake.
A thanks goes to the trainers in Brad and Ned who has came on board and it was good to see a
trainer who not only gave the boys water ,but he gave them good advise in situations were they
lost control a little and also thanks to Errol for his help on the day.
Also thanks to Rachael for her help in doing the managers job for the day, as it was her first go,
but if there is someone out there who would like to do the duties fulltime she would gratefully
hand the duties over.
Also we are still looking for a sponsor for the team, so if you are interested or now of some one
who would like to sponsor the side please contact Steve Long or Brad Turnbull

Greetings to the whole Club, team’s players, staff, parents & supporters family & friends. 2010
another year, same cue, take 5, action camera and its all on again. It’s great to be back in the
cauldron once again, of what will be a very testing season but, gainful time for many of the
younger players in A Grade playing with older heads and more experience. We are in Year 2 of
the 3yr plan with 2009 the “honeymoon period” over done and dusted and now it is about feeding
off last years great overall performance. Can it be done? Yes it can, with the same regimen of self
belief that was shown last year there is no reason not to. There has been player turnover with
some leaving and others winning promotion so we are in a similar position to last year but as
mentioned, with a little more wisdom and experience.
To the AGELESS WARRIOR Wills for gracefully accepting Bobbies appointment as Captain and
we know that he will do the title justice as much as you did. Today’s game was not the result we
wanted but, it is the blowout that everyone needs players and coaches alike. It is from here that we
charter our course forward and it obviously shows which areas need working on. Overall the
performance was very good and with 20min remaining there were only 2 tries in it. Our defence
was brilliant and mediocre at times with our edges needing more communication and that will
come. Our attack is lacking fluency at the moment and there has to be a little more patience
allowing the lead sets to open up the defence for the halves to capitalise. A few opportunities on
their line were not maximised to the fullest but, mistakes made means lessons learnt. Players
player big Lawrence (BF2pts) made a huge impact on debut with some telling runs off magic
balls from Bobby with the big fella getting the (BF3pts) and another Big fella Johnny getting the
(BF 1pt). Everyone did well with all debutants exceptional in their first run in A Grade, hey Boys,
this only the start, buckle up, and knuckle down there’s a lonnggg way to go. Cheers to the
Reggies for a great 2 nd half comeback. To our staff and masseurs Micky, Scott, great effort
without Dave there and not to be forgotten Dougie who is helping out wherever he can and Noelie
(Chief of Finance). Last but not least Lisa Armstrong and Helen Tairi for laundry

First of all I would like to welcome everyone back for the 2010 season and a big welcome to our
sponsor Norms Scrap Metal thanks for your continued support.Well today was a start of a new
year with a very disappointing trial results we came into todays game a bit low on confidence but
with a scrappy game we came away with the 2 points which was a good result to get the win and
still play bad is always a good sign. We also have 5 new players to the side which is going to take
a while for them to get used to the speed of first division so fellas a big welcome to Bailey, Brad ,
Mark, Blake and Johno welcome. To all the returning boys its good to have you back and I look
forward to a successful year. On the game today we scored a couple of good tries and did some
good things but we really still have to improve our structure in attack which comes down to our
halves and our edge defence but in saying this quakers did finish 4 th last year and are a good side
and with our big fellas getting fitter by the week and a couple more ball sessions and the fellas
getting use to a new coaching structure and style of play I am confident we will be a lot better side
in the coming weeks .Good games today by Dozer who had a great game and was able to last the
whole game well done mate and to his partner Jake who busted his bum all game and did a lot of
the hard work and to Johno scored a try on his first touch in first division football so boys lets
keep working hard at training and keep improving and we will be right. I would also like to thank

UNDER 16/1’s VS Emu Plains Lost 28-18

To Peter Hickey and his team from “Valley Fitness” at, St Marys thank you for again sponsoring
our boys for the 2010 season. Well what a way to start the 2010 season with a hard fought loss to
Emu Plains. With only 11 players to choose from to take the field until our players from Penrith
Harold Matts players return, it was a tough ask. I was lucky to be able to call on 3 player from the
15/2's ( Zak Hakos, Andrew Donnelly, Liam Williamson) and 2 players from 15/1's ( Dean
Collins, Adam Bektas) to help out and these boys played outstanding with Dean & adam both
scoring tries. All these players has already played the day before in there own side. Great job
boys. To my boys the day started off on the wrong foot in so many ways we had one not turn up,
cause he had other plans(not good enough) and then we lost jordan Grant in the first hit up of the
game with a eye injury and take no further part in the game. The first half was played with both
side fumbling there way to 2 tries a piece and scores locked at 8 all. The second half statred the
same way when we lost another 2 players soon after the kick off and now we were down to 12
players. Emu kicked clear at this stage to lead 22-8 and there was still 25 min left to play. Our
boys then lifted and started to play some real good football and got the score back to 22-18, with
15 min left to play. Our boys then statred to fatigue and when Emu have still got all players on
deck scored two late tries to finish up 28-18 winners. Our boys really showed guts and
determination when they were down and it won't be long until everything will fall into place and
when it does look out all these other sides. Try scores for the game were Dean &  Adam(15/1's)
Alex and Elia who also kick a goal. Once a gain great effort boys. Blake Dunscome was the
players player for the game. Top stuff Blake.  To all the parents a very big thank you for your
support and again a huge thank you to “Valley Fitness” for their continuing sponsorship and
support
