Note: Please find attached the guidelines for preparation of project report.

A sample
content sheet is also included for your easy reference. All students are requested to follow the
guidelines while preparing their project report.
All students are requested to submit a hard draft copy to their respective internal guides
for their review and comments. The final printout of the project work should be under taken
only after review by their concerned internal guide. The internal guides are also requested to
review the report technically and also from the view point of the guide lines. Thereafter the final
version shall be submitted to the Head, for comments / clearance / approval. Failure to get the
report approved by the internal guide / Head of the Dept or not following the guide lines for
preparation of the report may lead to rejection of the report.
Three (3) copies (excluding your personal copy) of the project report shall be submitted
along with the following:

CD containing the total soft copy of the project report.


CD containing the program (source code & exe file), input files, output files, compiler
etc.
Hard soft (printout) of the entire program along with input & output files.
Hard copy of all reference papers & material.

All the students are requested to go through their reports thoroughly before giving the same for
photo-copying and binding so as to avoid re-binding.

Guide Lines for Preparation of Project Report of B.Tech


Size and No. of copies:
The dissertation should be submitted in A4 size, bond paper. Three (3) copies of project report
should be submitted. In addition to three copies, each student should also have individual copy.
Paper, Typing, format:
Executive Bond paper should be used for preparation of the project report.
Typing should be done in 12 font of Times New Roman.
The layout should provide 4 cm of the left, 3cm of the top & bottom and 1.5 cm on the right. A
double line margin can be used on the four sides of the page as margin.
Fresh paragraph should commence after three spaces. 1 spacing should be provided through
out the project report. Page Numbers shall be indicated at the bottom middle of the each page.
Every page should be right justified.
Numbering of Figures & Tables:
The figures in a chapter may be serially numbered as Fig : 1.1, Fig : 1.2,.. Where first digit
indicates the chapter number and second digit indicates the figure number.

The numbering of tables should be similar to figures, such as Tab 1.1, Tab 1.2 and so on.
Graphs:
The graphs, if any, should clearly indicate the points used for drawing the curve (s). The
numbering of graphs should be similar to fig such as Graph 1.1, Graph 1.2 and so on
Numbering of references:
All references shall be serially numbered in the same order as they appeared in the report in
square brackets.
Spell checking:
The document should be completely spell checked.
Sample content sheet is also enclosed.
Note:
All the Table Nos., Figure Nos., graphs Nos., References, Appendices etc., referred in the body
of the text shall be made bold for easy reference. Example: The details shown in Table No: 5.7
can be explained with help of the Figure No: 5.3 and as given in [32] and reproduced in
Appendix-12.
Similarly for equations
Every page should have a header indicating the title of the project on the left top corner,
aurora emblem on the right top corner and footer with ASTRA-B.Tech (MECH) on the
left bottom corner, department of MECHANICAL on the right bottom corner
