Title Coaxial solar cell structure and continuous fabrication method of its linear structure
Abstract A coaxial solar cell forces an exposed annular light receiving layers of a constant thickness to
directly receive projection of light excitedly to generate pairs of electrons and holes that are driven
by radial built-in electronic field formed on a PN junction to travel by the same distance paths to
coaxial inner and outer electrodes. The photons directly enter an exposed drift region. The excited
pairs of electrons and holes are separated by the even built-in electronic field to output current.
Loss caused by crowding and recombination of diffusion current can be prevented. Photoelectric
conversion efficiency improves without losing photon energy of short wavelengths projecting to the
surface. The linear coaxial solar cell is fabricated by forming coaxial and annular semiconductor
layers or compound films through deposition. Thus, it can be continuously fabricated by extending
its length and mass production to reduce costs.

Title Electrode of dye-sensitized solar cell, manufacturing method thereof and dye-sensitized solar cell
Abstract A dye-sensitized solar cell, an electrode of the dye-sensitized solar cell, a method of
manufacturing the electrode of the dye-sensitized solar cell are disclosed. The method of
manufacturing the electrode of the dye-sensitized solar cell in accordance with an embodiment
of the present invention includes forming a metal transparent electrode on one surface of a
transparent polymer board, in which the metal transparent electrode has holes formed therein;
forming a electron transfer layer on the metal transparent electrode; and absorbing photosensitive
dye into the electron transfer layer. According to the method as set forth above, a flexible solar
cell can be implemented by using a flexible electrode, and another transparent electrode layer
using ITO can be omitted by using the nano-patterned metal transparent electrode. Therefore,
the highly efficient dye-sensitized solar cell can be implemented by the excellent conductivity of
metals and the plasmon effect.

Title System for mounting
Abstract A mounting and attachment system, which can easily mount a continuous snow rail for snow
protection above the seams of a metal roof and also attach lower members or snow flags which
are located between the seams to stop the snow from sliding under the height of the seam. This
system reduces the requirement for holes and threaded holes to be drilled into the mounting block,
saving manufacturing time and money. The mounting block is configured so that there is a slot
which runs through the mounting block to fit over a raised seam. This slot can have parallel walls
or can be shaped to match the form of a particular seam. This block will also have slots or linear
indentations on the sides or ends of the block in a direction perpendicular or parallel to the slot for
the seam. A second piece of the assembly is a snow rail long enough to connect two or more of
the seam-mounted blocks together. Finally, a top rail may be secured to be positioned parallel to
said seam and be mounted on two or more seam mounted blocks.

passively reflect solar energy incident thereto away from the wire screens. When the sun has a
winter elevation on the horizon, however, the first surfaces passively reflect solar energy incident
thereto toward the second surfaces, which in turn passively reflect the solar energy toward the
edifice. A concave surface on the wires can also reflect thermal energy back to the edifice.

Title Thermal imaging-based vehicle analysis
Abstract Analysis of a vehicle is performed using multi-dimensional infrared image data acquired for the
vehicle. A component of the vehicle can be identified within the infrared image data, and the
infrared image data for the component can be analyzed to determine whether any condition(s) are
present on the vehicle. One or more actions can be initiated in response to a determination that
a particular condition is present. Additionally, visible image data can be used to supplement the
infrared image data. Still further, infrared image data for similar components imaged concurrently
with the component can be used to identify whether any condition(s) are present on the vehicle.
Unlike prior art approaches in the rail industry, the analysis can be performed on rail vehicles
within a classification yard.

Title Near-field diffraction superposition of light beams for concentrating solar systems
Abstract Disclosed herein is a concentrating photovoltaic system utilizing a lens/reflector array to spatially
divide the incident sunlight into separate incoherent beams, and a principle optical element
to superpose the separate beams that undergo near-field diffraction/transmission, and form a
uniform illumination pattern on the photovoltaic (PV) cell with similar shape and size. The array
and principle optical element can be flexibly disposed in the system as long as the near-field
diffraction condition is satisfied. The PV cell is disposed close to the focus of the principle optical
element, and the concentrated illumination pattern on the PV cell is nearly a geometric projection
of individual lens/reflector in the array. The size of the pattern is controlled by changing the focal
lengths of the array and principle optical element, the distance between them, and the size of
individual lens/reflector in the array. The system is insensitive to component misalignment and has
the advantage of achieving high concentration ratio and efficient energy conversion with relatively
low cost and compact design.

Title Ingap heterojunction barrier solar cells
Abstract A new solar cell structure called a heterojunction barrier solar cell is described. As with previously
reported quantum-well and quantum-dot solar cell structures, a layer of narrow band-gap material,
such as GaAs or indium-rich InGaP, is inserted into the depletion region of a wide band-gap PN
junction. Rather than being thin, however, the layer of narrow band-gap material is about 400-430
nm wide and forms a single, ultrawide well in the depletion region. Thin (e.g., 20-50 nm), wide
band-gap InGaP barrier layers in the depletion region reduce the diode dark current. Engineering
the electric field and barrier profile of the absorber layer, barrier layer, and p-type layer of the PN
junction maximizes photogenerated carrier escape. This new twist on nanostructured solar cell
design allows the separate optimization of current and voltage to maximize conversion efficiency.

Title Using 3d integrated diffractive gratings in solar cells
Abstract A multi-junction opto-electronic device including a stack of wavelength selective absorption layers
is proposed. The absorption layers include each a first layer with a grating of a specific pitch
defining the wavelength of the incident light to be absorbed within a subjacent second electrically
active layer itself on a third electrically inactive layer. The second electrically active layer within the
different absorption layers is in electrical connection with lateral contacts to extract the electrical
charge carriers generated by the absorbed incident light within the active layer. The grating within
the first layer of the absorption layers is defined by periodic stripes of specific width depending
on the wavelength to be absorbed by the respective absorption layers. The period of the stripes
alignment is defined by the pitch of the grating. Advantageously, ordinary silicon technology can
be used.
