FIRE SAFETY AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE

Safety rules, emergency information and evacuation routes are

prominently displayed
- Good use of the skills above
- Evacuation plan (break the glass and go to the eating area),
shows use of safety rules, emergency information and
evacuation routes in case of a fire.
- Exit signs
The Alarm can be heard in the area (when applicable)
- Smoke alarms can be seen, unknown if they work but given
the age of the building (fairly new) it would be thought that
they should work, but maybe a 6 monthly test would be great
Doorways, walkways and evacuation exits are kept clear and at
least 600mm wide
- Some chairs where possible tripping hazards, so moving chairs
and other objects that get used daily if not in use needs to be
implemented
External exit doors can be opened from the inside without a key and
emergency fire exits are signed
- Exit signs clearly visible, easy to read and follow, done very
properly
- Exit doors with special opening, easy to use for fire, not much
needs to be improved here
Fire Control equipment is easily accessible, signed and regularly
tested and of the appropriate type
- 3x fire extinguishers, 2x fire blankets, sprinklers on the ceiling,
Fire bells, electrical fire extinguisher,
- Fire equipment is signed and in date, also regularly checked,
so no extra notes or concerns need to be considered
Emergency lighting
- Need some form of torch, light etc that are working so if lights
fail people are not stuck in the darkness
An approved first aid kit is readily available and stocked
appropriately
- First aid kit approved and easily accessible , the only thing
that needs to be considered is qualified to use the first aid
equipment available in the building or in one close to the
building.

- The area was fairly clean and tidy,, but still things needed to
be cleaned up so hazards can be prevented, for example
desks and chairs to be tidied up to prevent hazards like
tripping,, knocking into etc
There is suddicient space for each peron to perform their work
safety

space and overall not much room etc
- So the desks and chairs are evenly spaced to the point where
people can study comfortably
Floor surfaces are maintane in a safe condition and suitable for the
type of activities conducted

the walls, ceilings and roofs could be found,

secure hand rails where needed.
- Nothing needed to be added, all in check and working, safe
order

unwanted/unauthorized people inside.
There is adequate ventilation and lighting to work safely.

Furniture, Fixtures and Fittings

Furniture is safe and in good condition
- Majority of furniture is in good condition besides desk chairs
and desks due to many students using them causing ware of
the both, so possible maintenance/replacing may need to be
done towards the end of the year/ in the next year.
Light fittings/fixtures and ceiling fans are in good condition and
working order
- All light fitting and fixtures seem to be in excellent condition,
