Add-On scenery

For MS FS2004, FSX & Prepar3D

Version 4 (2015)
Welcome to London Stansted Airport, one of Londons main gateways, which has expanded to
rival Heathrow and Gatwick. This Scenery is the third of the next generation of airports from
UK2000 Scenery. Using new methods and modeling systems, which allows us to make truly
amazing airports.
Stansted airport began its life in 1942 as a USAAF Base with a standard RAF triangular runway
layout. In 1946 the airport officially opened as a civil aerodrome retaining many of its wartime
buildings. It continued to grow with the addition of a 1968 terminal on the Western side.
Perhaps Stansteds most famous aircraft to land took place in 1983 when the space shuttle
Enterprise touched down on top a modified 747. In the Early 1990s the construction of a new
terminal, satellites and apron layout on the eastern side was under way. This expansion has
continued right up to today with the recent opening of the first part of Apron E.
Today Stansted is a very busy airfield for low cost airlines like Ryanair, Easyjet and
Germanwings, Its also is a large cargo hub for TNT and FedEx

Installation
The installation is fully automatic; it will search the Windows registry for the location of your
FS9/FSX Folder and use this as the default initial location. You can install Stansted Xtreme to
any location but please remember where you placed it for future updates.
It will also install FS AFD data (via an AFCAD file for the airfield) to allow the AI aircraft to taxi
and park correctly. The FSX\P3D version also routes the default vehicles away from AI routes.
The product does not include any large airliner AI, as this may conflict with the users AI addons.
After the basic installation of the files, the Setup and Options program will auto-run. This
program is needed to add the new scenery area within FS9/FSX/P3D and for you to select
certain options. You must also activate the scenery.
This setup program is also designed to update your scenery.cfg file, but you are free to install
the scenery manually if you dont want to use this part of it.
Also please have a look at the various OPTIONS on the set-up program; there are quite a few
available.

Uninstall
Please run the products uninstall process.
Click START PROGRAMS - UK2000 scenery-UK2000 Stansted XtremeSetup and Options.
You should never remove the actual scenery manually without removing it from the FS
database. The Setup and Options should be used to remove the scenery correctly

The Airfield
Stansted is about 25 miles East of London and just off the M11 Motorway
The Easiest way to find the airfield is to use the Go to Airport system within FS. Start FS (use
your default flight if needed). Make sure you are using the FS default database (not the add-on
scenery database) and enter in Stansted ,EGSS
Stansted has one runway. 23-05. The Modern Control tower is situation high above the eastern
apron, but the original WWII tower is still there on the west side. Stansted has 3 main piers, an
Executive/GA Centre and Two Cargo Ramps (the smaller is for FedEx)

Display Settings
There are two important settings that users need to ensure are set to use this product
correctly. These are shown below.

For both FSX\P3D and FS2004 set Global Max texture to Massive, this to ensure the 1024 size
images are displayed corrected, (if not set they will be blurred)

For FSX\P3D, Set Mesh resolution to 19m or lower ( 5 is best ), this is to ensure the close fitting
terrain details do not form gaps near the airfield edges. Set Texture resolution of 60cm or
better, this is to ensure the ground image is displayed at its sharpest.

Safedock
At some Stands, there is a safedock parking assist system. This system is designed to let the
pilot know at what point to stop his aircraft.

Animation
The Optional animation uses FS9 code, but it still usable for FSX/P3D users

3D PAPI lights. (FS9\FSX version only)

Approach lights
This scenery also includes 3D approach lights. .

These lights are on 24 hours a day so they can be used in bad weather, sorry you cant turn
them off.

Known FS2004 Issues

If you use the older UK2000 Part2 (pre 2003) or the older British Airports (FS2002, or FS2002FS2004 update) then you may get ground problems. If this is the case then removing the
Stansted scenery files from these conflicting products will solve it
This DOES NOT effect true FS2004 version of UK2000 Part2 or the True FS2004 version of
British airport

Known FSX\P3D Issues

If you use UK2000 VFR airfields Vol2, you need to insure than the Stansted airport in that
product is Disabled. Use the products configuration program.

Frame Rates
This scenery is very complex, but it is programmed in an efficient way. Compared to other
products this scenery is very good on frame rates. But please dont set your FS2004/FSX/P3D
at maximum settings and expect to get a smooth ride. Most of the frame rate problems have
nothing to do with the add-on scenery. AI aircraft and FULL Autogen will slow your PC the
most.

Compatibility
This scenery fits well with the default FS9,FSX & P3D scenery; this product is made to fit with
the Horizon Software VFR Photo scenery for FS2004/FSX and Orbx FTX Scenery.

AFCAD File
Whats an AFCAD?
AFCAD is actually a program written by Lee Swordy. The files it produces are referred to as
AFCAD files. The program and files enable scenery designers to alter the way the AI aircraft
taxi and park, put simply it means I can line up the AI aircraft within FS to the add-on scenery,
which will never be the same as the default MS Scenery.
In FS2004/FSX the data is stored in individual files, one for each airfield. With this product the
file is installed to the same folder as the rest of the scenery (unlike previous UK2000 products)
Why am I telling you all this? One of the problems users often get when installing add-ons is
duplicate AFCAD files for the same airport. FS9,FSX & P3D may use the wrong file and your AI
will be in the wrong places. If you have AI in wrong places the one way to solve this is by
moving the UK2000 Scenery products and AFCAD area to the top of the scenery library. (Start
FS, click settings, select scenery library). If this doesnt solve your problem then you will have
to delete the other conflicting AFCAD file from the other add-on.
AFCAD files do change regularly, so I suggest you visit the AFCAD page on the website to
update your product.
There is an additional ZIP file installed in the product folder called AFCADS.ZIP please read
the readme.txt inside this ZIP for additional AFCAD information
