USING THE DEVICE

Given that the perforation of the film is essential for air to escape during the shrinking process,
with this optional device it is possible to obtain localised holes as an alternative to the traditional
perforation system which uses needles on the reel holder of the sealing machine.
This device is usually used when a tight seal is needed to properly conserve the product. In
this case as the hole is localised, it can easily be resealed by means of adhesive labels.
The optional perforating device can be used on the automatic angular sealing machines or on
the continuous longitudinal sealing machines in the SMIPACK range.

1.1 OPERATION PRINCIPLE

The optional perforator comes into operation when the product is detected on the input belt by
the vertical photocell A, which, by means of a timer, activates a solenoid valve in the device
that provides the impulse to make the hole while the film is being pulled.
The number of holes that the device can make depends on the speed of the packaging
machine, so it may be necessary to adjust the timer inside the control panel to change the
execution times. To adjust the timer see paragraph 1.6.

1.2 DANGER ZONES AND RULES OF CONDUCT

When the machine is in operation do not, for any reason, intervene on the mechanical part of
the perforating device of the film as there is a danger of crushing. In close proximity to the
danger zone a pictogram has been placed to recall the attention of the operator.

1.3 ACTIVATING/DISABLING THE DEVICE

Using the selector B, the optional device

can be activated (Pos.1) or disabled
(Pos.0).

To prevent further perforation of the film by means of the C supports on which the standard
perforating needles are located, they need to be raised manually, as shown in the figure so that
they do not come into contact with the film.

1.4 PASSING THE FILM THROUGH THE DEVICE

When using the optional perforating device, the film must be passed through the device so that
it can be perforated, you need to therefore follow the diagrams shown in the Figure.
Loosen the screws D and the handles E in order to raise or lower the entire perforator unit in
accordance with the perforating requirements of the film:

the upper position (as shown in fig. a) is used only to pierce the edge of the top film.
the lower position (as shown in fig. b) is used for when you want to pierce both edges of the
film.
After making this adjustment tighten the screws D and the handles E.

1.5 SETTING THE PERFORATING POSITION

Through the handles E set the perforating position that is required based on the width of the
film reel.

1.6 ADJUSTING THE TIMERS

Calibration of the timer is based on the number of holes that you want to get on the bag which
is variable in accordance with the product size and the operation speed of the machine.
To set the timer you need to access the inside of the electrical panel by following the
procedures and precautions in the user and maintenance manual of the packaging machine.

Field 2 (Time) shown in the figure is the only setting that

can be adjusted for each timer.
By lowering the value set, the speed of execution between
one hole and another increases while it reduces by
increasing the value.
ATTENTION! The fields of timer 1) and 3) are not to be
modified. The figure shows the correct settings.
