4.1.3 Countrys and international standards

contract. Such specification shall be defined and referred to hereinafter as standard specifications

4.2

DESIGN CRITERIA
4.2.1 Elevator standard
Elevators built according EN81
Dynamic load : 110% of rated load
Static test load : 150% of rated load
4.2.2 Design, material and workmanship general requirement
All parts of the equipment shall be designed and manufactured in the best and fully suitable manner
with materials best suited to their purpose and in accordance with recognized standard to good
practice and latest technology.
Wherever practicable, the design and shaping of important component shall be such as to facilitate
full non-destructive examination.
In the design, due regard shall be paid to the accessibility of parts which require maintenance. The
lubrication points shall be clearly marked and arranged in an orderly and clearly visible manner.
Tooth gears in the vicinity of accessible places shall be enclosed. All screws, bolts and nuts shall be
locked so that it is impossible for them to become loose in operation.
The parts shall be usable without adjustment. The brakes shall be dimensioned to hold fast the test
load.
The sub-contractor is required to pay attention to the reduction of sound, noise and vibration and is
required to provide and install all necessary sound and vibration-reducing materials. Any noises
made by the cabin in its normal passage through the hoist ways shall be eliminated as far as possible.
Sheaves and wheels for load ropes shall have a pitch diameter not less than 40 times the diameter of
the rope used therewith.
The cabin speed downwards with rated load under normal operating conditions with power supply
on or off shall not exceed 125% of rated speed.
The elevator shall be equipped for manual operation in case of motor or power failure.
4.2.3 Safety
The design of the equipment shall provide all reasonable precautions for the security of the
personnel engaged in operation and maintenance and shall meet the relevant safety regulations and
standards specified in employers requirements, General technical specification.
All live, moving and rotating parts shall be adequately secured in order to avoid danger to the
operating staff.
4.2.4 Civil work tolerance
IMPORTANT REMARK : To meet the project deadline, a preliminary study has already defined the
bottom of the elevator shafts as here above. The sub-contractor will confirm his agreement and will
supply all equipments and fittings accessories accordingly.
For building measures as well as for placing first-stage concrete anchors, an accuracy of +-30mm
shall be taken into account
4.2.5 Embedded parts minimum thickness
Minimum thickness of steel, without regard to stress, shall be as follows unless otherwise specified :
- Gate skin plate : 15mm
- Plate thickness of any structural part except webs of rolled shapes : 10mm
- Embedded metal with exposed surfaces : 12mm

Completely embedded metal : 10mm


Corrosion resistant steel cladding after final machining : 6mm
Diameter of bolts or screws on gate structures : 16mm
Diameter of adjusting bolt between frame or embedded part and welding pad 20mm

4.2.6 Earthing
All metal parts shall be electrically earthed.
4.2.7 Electrical enclosure
Electrical equipment enclosure for electrical equipment shall comply with IEC79, IEC298, IEC529
and IEC947-1.
Minimum enclosure classification for non-rotating electrical equipment shall be :
Indoors only in totally enclosed rooms with provision for limiting ingress of dust

Indoors, except as noted otherwise

IP54

The enclosure protection class of outdoor installed equipment

IP64

The enclosure classification of main and auxiliary cables boxes with the cable terminated shall not
be less than that of the associated equipment, subject to a minimum classification of IP54
4.2.8 Cubicle and electrical components
The design, manufacture and testing of all equipment and installations shall comply with the latest
electrical standards IEC and ISO.
Equipment installed in power plant to be capable of withstanding an ambient temperature of
+ 48C without damage, under normal conditions of operation.
The electrical equipment shall be arranged such that it is easily accessible.
Each switchboard, cubicle, panel, etc.. shall incorporate electric heaters fed from LV single phase
capable of providing movement of sufficient heated air to avoid condensation.
The local control panels shall be manufactured from sheet steel of 2 mm thickness.
Main electrical component shall include a safety margin of 10% under consideration of the worst
case to be meet in service.
In case the sub-contractor needs a voltage different from those available, the necessary transformers
have to be supplied by himself.
Each equipment must be provided with a dedicated earthing according to the sub-contractor
standard.
Labeling principles to be in accordance with applicable regulations and sub-contractor standards.
Each electric equipment of the electrical material list must be physically labeled the same way.
Cables terminals are included in the sub-contractor scope of supply.
All equipment to be connected must be provided with dedicated connection devices and cables
penetrations (with some spare penetrations). It is the sub-contractors responsibility to supply any
supporting for electrical equipment.
4.2.9 Motors
All motors shall comply to IEC standard motor dimensions.
AC motors shall have squirrel cage type rotors.
All motors shall be of totally enclosed fan-cooled type, protection class IP44 according IE
recommendation 144.
No light metal alloy casings will be accepted for motors above the size of 10kW.

Motors installed in power plant to be capable of withstanding an ambient temperature of


+48C without damage, under normal conditions of operation.
Motor rating service factor :
Up to 5kW
Minimum 120 % of power demand
More than 5kW
Minimum 110% of power demand
AC motor shall be designed for direct on line starting.
Under all operation conditions the noise level of motors shall not exceed 85dB(A)
All the cables junction boxes will be fitted with cable glands suitable to the cable diameter.
4.2.10 Fixed access ladder
Ladder shall comply with BS4211. The minimum width of ladders shall be 500mm.
Handrails and protective barrier shall be provided wherever necessary to protect operation or
maintenance personnel from hazard and shall comply with BS6180
Double hand railing shall be provided unless otherwise specified. Each length shall be joined by
internal ferrules and all joints shall be neatly finished by the removal of all burns. The top rail shall
be not less than 30mm diameter and a height of not less than 1100mm from platform level. The
intermediate rail shall be not less than 25mm diameter rand at a height of not less than 535 from the
platform level.
Toe plates extending to a height of not less than 100mm above the platform or gallery level and of
thickness not less than 6mmshall be supplied.
The open grid floor panels shall be not less than 25mm in depth and shall be and approved
manufacturer and generally in accordance with BS4592
4.2.11 Identification plate
Each main and auxiliary equipment shall have, permanently attached to it in a conspicuous position,
a rating plate of non corrosive material upon which is to be engraved :
- the manufacturers name and address,
- the equipment type, serial number and date of manufacture,
- main design data
Labels shall be made of gravoply or similar, with a black engraving on white background, with letter
size 4 mm mini. All labels shall be in English.
4.2.12 Corrosion protection
The equipment shall be protected according :

In addition to :
- For surfaces of steel structures : Thorough cleaning by sandblasting until the surface is
metallically clean; removal of dust; hot-dip galvanizing by complete immersion.
- Steel plates for doors, cabin, for the control building passenger elevator in the workshop surface
shall be painted
Light metal : oxidized colorless
Safety catch and governor ropes : stainless steel
Bolt material : galvanized finish
Machine and bright parts : All machined and bright parts shall be treated for transport with a
suitable protective coat insoluble in water, durable for at least 12 months
For on site weld zones and defect areas, the same paint schedule as indicated above shall apply..

4.2.13 Accessories
- Systems will be equipped with all the accessories required for their good operation.
- Special tools for removing the various pieces of the apparatuses if needed to be supplied.
- If lifting of equipment/packages require a lifting beam, it is inside the sub-contractor's scope of
supply.

SCOPE OF SUPPLY
The definition of the scope of technical supply, which is given by the order and its appendices, is not of an
exhaustive nature. It is the duty of the sub-contractor to deliver equipment which is complete and fulfils the
contractual requirements and characteristics and the purpose for which it is intended.
2 (two) passenger elevators, including cabin, hoisting gear, guide rails for cabin and counterweight, entrances,
control and monitoring equipment, main circuit breaker in machine room and float switch;
2 (two) freight elevators, including cabin, hoisting gear, guide rails for cabin and counterweight, entrances,
control and monitoring equipment, main circuit breaker in machine room and float switch;
2 (two) electric hoists 1.0t mini in freight elevator hoisting mechanism room and monorail track of electric
hoist;
2 (two) electric hoist, 0.5t mini in passenger elevator hoisting mechanism room and monorail track of electric
hoist;
1 (one) set of minor accessories including all ladders, guards and handrail necessary to obtain easy and safe
access to the elevator machines.
1 (one) set of general spare parts : The required general spare parts as specified in employers requirements,
General Technical Specification, shall be included in the tender for the equipment specified in this part.
1 (one) set of special spare parts : The special spare parts listed below shall be included in the tender for the
equipment specified in this part :
- 1 set of load ropes
- 1 set of brake linings
- 1 brake coil
- 1 set of traveling cables
- 1 set of machine bearing
- 1 set of guide shoes for cabin
- 1 set of counterweight guide shoes
- 1 set of floor relay coils
- 2 sets of push buttons
- 2 set of indication lamps
- 1 set of indication lamp holders
- 1 set of complete control panel relays, brushes, safety switches, fuses, condensers, rectifiers,
resistors, transformers
- 1 set of cabin limit switches
- 1 set of governor safety switches
1 (one) set of special tools : The scope of work shall include all normal customary tools as well as all tools
and devices, which are specially made and/or required for complete assembling, dismantling, adjustment, and
maintenance of all equipment specified in this part. The stipulation stated in employers requirement,
General technical specification. All tools and devices have to be handed over the employer in unused
condition.
1 (one) set of oil and grease : The sub-contractor shall supply oil and greases in accordance with
requirements employers requirements, General technical specification. Supply shall include an extra 100%
of total oil quantity, in sealed, non returnable containment;
1 (one) set of all consumables used for erection, start-up and first operation period are inside of subcontractor's scope of supply (touch up paint, anchoring bolts )
5.1

CONSTRUCTION
The specific requirements indicated hereunder are in addition to and in completion of those not
mentioned specifically, as arising from the sub-contractors obligation to supply complete work
and designs suitable to fulfill the performance and the requirements of the complete supply
covered by this section.

5.1.1

Hoisting gear consisting of


Driving motor with two speeds for automatic stop and inspection drive
Worm gear running in an oil bath in a closed casing.
All bearing points shall be provided with ball bearings
Hoisting brake, mounted directly on the motor
Gearing and driving sheave mounted on a steel bed plate
The sheave shaft shall be equipped with ball or roller bearings
Sheaves and wheels for load ropes
Elevator steel wire ropes
Counterweight of cast iron for counterbalance
Buffers installed under the cabin and counterweight on in the pit.
The counterweight shall compensate the cabin weight plus 50% of loading capacity.
Cabin of elevator consisting of :

- Welded rigid construction with wear-resisting and gliding guide shoes


- Access from one side moving doors, except one double access level of ITEM 90-DAM-001-AC
OPTION 1)
- Telephone niche, with a separate communication suspension cable with three double conductors.
The cable shall be wired to a separate terminal box in the machine room.
- Emergency exit in the cabin roof.
- Safety catch
- Illumination in the centre of the cabin roof, moisture-resistant
- Floor and wall facing One meter from the floor); of a aluminum nipple plate, and the floor shall
be lined with PVC.
- The cabin shall be equipped with exhaust fan;
- The cabin shall be equipped with an additional cabin lining for provisional use during the
installation period of the power house equipment.
- The elevator cabin shall be well lighted and ventilated
- A storage cabinet for two battery lamps and a 5kg fire-extinguisher shall be arranged in the cabin.
The door of the cabinet shall be glazed and provided with a key lock. In case of emergency the
glass pane shall serve as emergency exit (will have to be smashed)
- An over speed actuated safety brake of the wedge type with 4 adjustable guide shoes shall be
arranged at the cabin. The safety brake shall stop the cabin in case of hoist brake failure or rope
damage.
5.1.3

Elevator shaft consisting of

- Guide rails for the elevator cabin and counterweight, with guide shoes of steel profile and with all
necessary fasteners.
5.1.4

Entrance for elevator

- Automatic sliding doors shall be located on the same side of the elevator including all necessary
foundation plates and fixing bolts.
5.1.5

Control and monitoring of elevator

- The stipulations states in employers requirements, General technical specifications, shall be


observed accordingly.
- - The control system shall be automatic with push-button control, passenger-operated, complete
with all necessary control buttons, busy lamps and one up and one down arrow on all landing
boards, and with floor indicator board above the ground floor entrances
- The cabin board shall also be equipped with an electric alarm including an additional operated
emergency supply system, with cut-cut switch for safety stop, and with optical indicator for
overload limit stop.
- Instead of floor indicator in the cabin, the inside of the doors shall ne lettered with the
corresponding floor numbers.

- The equipment shall include all necessary contactors, switches, motor starters, thermal overload
protection for the motor, and speed governor for release of the safety catch.
- The control system shall be the collective-selective type and the cabin shall be equipped with a
floor indicator.
5.1.6

Float switches

The elevator shall additionally be equipped with a float switch located at the bottom of the elevator
shaft pit, monitoring the water level in case of flooding and initiating the blocking of the cabin in
the ground-floor position or at the floor above the flooding elevation with optical indicator in the
cabin.
5.2

SPECIFIC WARRANTIES OF EQUIPMENTS

The sub-contractor covers his equipment against fault in design, sizing, material, manufacture and assembly,
as well as their conformity to the use for which they are intended and more specifically :
- The equipments provide safety working conditions.
- The sub-contractor guarantees the specified lifting capacities, and the maximum stopping
difference of the elevator cabin under rated load shall not be more than +/- 10mm.
- Static load test will be 150% of the design load.
5.3

PENALTIES FOR SPECIFIC WARRANTIES


In case the technical warranties were not obtained, the sub-contractor should owe part of the total
amount of the purchase order. This penalty is defined in commercial terms.
Payment of the penalties does not release the sub-contractor from his obligations to finish the equipment
or the works, nor from other contractual obligations.

DEFINITION OF TECHNICAL SERVICES


6.1

TECHNICAL DESIGN EXECUTION


The sub-contractor undertakes to implement procedures and all necessary means to verify the
Documents/Drawings issued by him, and their coherency among themselves, before transmission to the
Sub-contractor.
All units of measure shall be designated in SI system. In drawings and other technical materials with
other units of measure their values shall be added in SI.
The sizes of documents will be A1, A2, A3 and A4 according to international standard ISO 5457.
All documents have to be produced in English language. The translation costs are payable by the subcontractor.
All document shall be produced in accordance with the sub-contractors general numbering and
codification standards. The electronic format of the documents will be in accordance with the subcontractor graphic charter. All required document shall respect ALSTOM forms and issued with
Autocad 2002, MS Word or MS Excel.

6.2

When placing the purchase order, we provide a preliminary list. It is not a comprehensive one and might
be completed during the progress of the project.
The lead-times are to be understood for document handed in our office, in their final form and checked
by the sub-contractor.
Printing for approval : Each document will be submitted in 3 PAPER COPIES, 1 electronic copy with
transmittal form

6.3

TECHNICAL PROGRESS REPORT


During the different phases of the project respectively design, manufacturing and commissioning, the
sub-contractor will have to issue progress report. The format of the report will be agreed between the
sub-contractor and the sub-contractor during the kick-off meeting.
This progress report will be submitted to the sub-contractor on a monthly basis during design and
manufacturing and on a weekly basis during commissioning period.
The content of this report should cover as a minimum the following items :
- The principal operations carried out and the difficulties encountered during the month,
- An estimation of progress task by task (in percentage),
- The revision of the end dates, and, if necessary, the analysis of causes of deviations and
consequences on the remaining works,

- The manpower resources implemented.


- Technical issues: description, corrective action plan
During the commissioning period, the sub-contractor will have to report on a daily basis to the
commissioning manager.
6.4

TECHNICAL LABELLING
Each ITEM shall be packed separately for erection reasons.
Each PART or sub-assembly must bear a metal label showing the ITEM number, the number of
ALSTOM order, possibly the assembly and identification plan number or any designation appearing in
the order or likely to identify this part. If the conditions of labeling are not respected, the cost of
identifying the equipment shall be deducted from the payments due to the sub-contractor.
