design features
chain drive
The heavy duty chain drive
mechanism is extremely strong and
reliable.
tracking action
Full coverage of the elements is
achieved by the multi-nozzle lance
tube traversing across the heater in a
programmed series of steps, pausing
after each step for one or more full
revolutions of the heater. Cleaning
can be done during the forward or
reverse stroke as required.
minimal maintenance
Valve internals can be replaced
without breaking the steam supply
line. Gearboxes are sealed for life,
requiring no in-service lubrication.

application
simple installation
The blower mounts directly onto
the heater casing via a fabricated
wallbox with integral seal connection
if required. No further inboard
support is necessary.
separate high pressure water
washing lance
The sootblower design incorporates
an arrangement of twin parallel
multi-nozzle lances, one for steam
or air sootblowing and one for
high pressure water washing of the
elements.

This sootblower is designed for

cleaning the elements of rotary
air preheaters. It provides greater
cleaning power, using HP water,
than a fixed multi-jet blower and
overcomes the coverage and reliability
problems associated with swing arm
and other designs.
The separate HP water washing
lance allows water washing on
demand without any adjustments to
sootblower or pipework.

technical data

operating sequence

electric motor
One 0.55 kW (0.75 HP) 3 phase flange mounted totally enclosed.

The electric motor, through a

reduction gearbox, induces lateral
motion in the lance. The lance is
mounted in a travelling carriage
assembly which is driven by chain.
When the sootblower is actuated the
lance moves forward to its full extent.
At the furthest extent of travel a limit
switch is tripped which reverses the
mechanism. Sootblowing is carried
out on the reverse stroke in timed
steps (the blower nozzle position is
controlled using an encoder and PLC
control panel).

operation data
blowing medium .....................steam or air, water for high pressure washing
blowing medium pressure .......................steam up to 140 bar, air 7 bar min
and high pressure water typically 100 barg
typical steam consumption ............................................9.7kg/min per nozzle

When sootblowing is completed a

second limit switch signals the end of
the cycle.
Alternatively, the blower can be
designed to blow during the forward
stroke with automatic reversal when
the lance tubes are fully extended.
Optional fans can be fitted to the
high pressure lance to supply air
sealing to the HP nozzles when not
in use.
