Why do you choose the intended field of study and what is your study plan (Maximum of 300 words)

I chose Mechanical Engineering because I have always interested in Robotics and building with Lego
blocks since I was small. I have strong background in Mathematics and Physics during my school years
and always think that I am creative. I am curious to know how things work and enjoyed watching
related show about Building and How Things Work in the National Geographic channel. I think that
would be useful in studying Mechanical Engineering since it involved designing, developing and
manufacturing variety of systems, machines and robotics.
I hope to further my study in this area to Master and InsyAllah PhD level. This would prepare me for
research careers in industry or maybe university. Mechanical Engineering is said to be the broadest
based compare to other type of engineering. Then it is possible for me to work the aircraft and
aerospace industries because I have always been fascinated by aeroplanes. Towards the later part of
my career, I hope to be in managerial position and supervising projects.

I believe I deserve to be selected for your scholarships because as a hard

working student I commit myself to effectively take advantage of the opportunity
that the scholarships will provide me. Besides, I am a student that does not only
persistently works hard academically, but also I constantly try to improve my
own community's quality of life by doing volunteer work. I believe education is
the key to success, and I try to connect my passion for education with my desire
of helping others. I think I deserve this scholarship because I would work hard in
my study as Ive had studied during my secondary schools years. In addition to
focusing on my own studies, I also worked as a chemistry, religious study and
other subjects mentor to group of students in less performing class throughout
my years in high school as a way of helping them improve their studies using
peer counselling technique. Additionally, I have also been active in my school
and community outside of the classroom, serving as Naqib the
religious/spiritual prefect and peer counsellor for the school council for two
years.
My family has made many sacrifices to allow me to focus on education
throughout primary and secondary school. I now have an opportunity to become
the first person in my family to attend college overseas, though I'm in need of
financial assistance to realize what has been a long-term goal for me and a
dream for my parents. If selected for this scholarship, I will continue to apply
the same diligence to my collegiate studies as I have to this point, making
education and service to others my top priority. I will represent your

When I was about 14, I found that geology covered all those things I had found interest me. As a
school kid I loved collecting rocks and minerals. From that early beginning I studied geography in
primary school and discovered geology later when I was in Secondary school. Unfortunately, I didnt
get to study geography but instead through History, I get to know about geology. I am curious to know
how the world around me works and enjoyed watching related show about Earthquake and the
dynamics of the Earth in the Discovery and National Geographic channel. Since I enjoy working
outdoor, have natural curiosity and have good scientific background in Physics and Chemistry,
Geology would be ideal field for me since I can investigate the past and the future of the Earth.
Geology also allow me to study the dynamics of the Earth we live on, its many resources and the
most economic and sustainable way to use these resources.
In terms of work, I believe I have a future in geology. Geologists are increasingly in demand to study
and evaluate geologic hazards and natural resources such as oil and gas. I hope to further my study in
this area to Master and PhD level. This would prepare me for research careers in industry or maybe
university. Malaysia has some of the most important problems, such as energy, water and mineral
resources; the environment; climate change and natural hazards like landslides, floods, and
neighbouring region earthquake. As a geologists or geoscientists I am able to contribute to the country
by finding the solution or preventive measures to these problems. From what I can see happening
within the last 20 years, we are more prone to earthquake activities occurring within our region. The
most recent happening is in Sabah, where multiple earthquakes occurred with a moment magnitude of
6.0. This doesnt cross our mind before. We thought it only happen to other country but not Malaysia.
Then last month we had an earthquake at Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu even though small in magnitude.
The tremor can be felt around Kelang Valley, Shah Alam and numerous places in Malaysia This is a start.
It is hoped that with my geophysics knowledge Ill be able to predict and study the earthquake pattern in
Malaysia so I can give warning and take the necessary precautionary measures for our country safety. I
also want to develop new geo-related technology to study in depth into our earth crust and identify new
resources for our country.
