HOMECARE PROVIDERS:
GET YOUR
BACKGROUND
CHECK NOW
Get the process started now to secure your payment and client status. All IHSS providers are required by law to
have completed a background check by July 1, 2010. If you don’t get your background check, you will lose your ability
to work as an IHSS home care provider or place your client’s status into risk. Does this new state requirement unfairly impact
our members? Absolutely. As you may have seen from our “Finding Fairness” materials last fall, we certainly support fraud
prevention measures but the undue share of costs to providers is not right. But it is the law.
Check with your Public Authority or call the ULTCW Member Action Center at 877-MY-ULTCW (877-698-5829)
to find out where to go and what you need to do to get your background check.

The bill also requires people who are not employed or do not
receive coverage through their jobs to buy their own healthcare
coverage or pay a penalty. For people who are unemployed

to help you get coverage at no or very low cost. The bill also For more information on how healthcare
