Task Related Personality Traits are defined as the traits closely associated
with task accomplishment.
The following are the task-related personality traits of leaders:

a) Passion for the Work and the People


A dominant characteristic of effective leaders is their passion for their work
and to some extent for the people who help them accomplish the work.
Passion for the work is especially evident in entrepreneurial leaders and
small-business owners who are worried with growing their business.
Being passionate about the nature of the business can be a major success
factor in its survival.
b) Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence refers to qualities such as understanding ones
feelings, empathy for others, and the regulation of emotions to enhance
living.
Four key factors are included in emotional intelligence, according to a
recent conception:

Self-awareness
Self-awareness helps you understand your impact on others.
Resonant Leaders use self-awareness to accurately measure their own
moods and how their moods affect others.

Self-management
Self-management is the ability to control ones emotions and act with
honesty and integrity in a consistent and adaptable manner.
Resonant Leaders do not let their occasional bad moods ruin their day.

iii.

Social Awareness
Social awareness includes having empathy for others and having intuition
about organizational problems.

iv.

Relationship Management
Relationship management includes the interpersonal skills of
communicating clearly and convincingly, disarming conflicts, and building
strong personal bonds.
New research suggests that a leaders moods and associated behaviors
greatly influence bottom-line performance.
A sense of humor is the most contagious mood.
c) Flexibility and Adaptability
A leader is someone who facilitates change.
Leader must be flexible enough to adapt such changes as technological
advances, downsizings, a shifting customer base and a changing workforce.
Leaders who are flexible are able to adjust the demands of different
situations.

d) Internal Locus of Control


An internal locus of control is closely related to self-confidence because the
person perceives that he or she can control circumstances enough to
perform well.
People with internal locus of control believe that they are prime mover
behind events.

e) Courage
Leaders need courage to face challenges of taking risks and taking initiative
in general.
It takes courage for a leader to suggest a new undertaking because if the
undertaking fails, the leader is often seen as having failed.
