: But we cant just depend on the police totally.

Prabu : The adults in the neighbourhood could form a neighbouring watch. It is a good
programme to keep the neighbourhood safe.

: Thats interesting. How is it done?

Prabu : Every member will take turn to walk around the neighbourhood in group to ensure

: What else can they do?

Once upon a time, a very young boy, called Mowgli got lost in the jungle. Shere Khan, the
tiger, wants to kill af him, but the wolves who found the boy wanted to look after him.
During a meeting at the Rock Council, Akela the wolf leader, decided that Mowgli will stay
with the wolves if there were two animals from the pack agreed. Then, Baloo the bear and
Bagheera the panther had gave their pledge to look after the man cub.
Mowgli stays in the jungle for ten years. Baloo had taught him all the jungle laws. One
day, a troop of monkey had kidnapped Mowgli and brought him away to a hidden place.
Baloo and Bagheera tried to stop them but failed. They went to see Kaa the rock snake
and asked his favour. Luckily, they managed to save Mowgli.

When Akela becomes old, Shere Khan thought he might now get Mowgli with the help of
the young wolves who didnt like him. Mowgli defended himself by throwing fire at his
enemies, but he must leave the jungle. He said goodbye sadly to his friends and family
and went to live in the village.
