5. Thet test reveals that, urban IX standard students (m=61.05) are better than
rural IX standard students (m=57.01) in their self-confidence. This may be
due to the fact that the students who live in urban areas do not afraid of
anything. They feel that they are in safe and able to adjust themselves at any
situation. They have lot of opportunities such as puzzles, logical test
compared to the rural students. This helps the students to increase Self
Confidence whereas rural students have less facilities for developing ones
capacity for problem solving.
6. Thet test reveals that, days scholar students (m=58.71) are better than
hostel IX standard students (m=54.79) in their self-confidence. This may be
because the hostel students lack care and affection from their parents. Days
scholar students get a lot of facilities for developing their skills. They are
very active in the classroom as well as they do their homework properly.
They have always innovative ideas. Therefore, they are eager to achieve
their goals. Hostel students lack care and affection from their parents. They
may get appreciation from their parents for their achievement in various
fields. Hence days scholar students have more self-confidence than hostel
students.
7. The F test shows that (m=64.43) IX standard girls school students are
better than the boys (m=58.20) and co-education (m=56.75) IX standard
students in their self-confidence. This may be due to the fact that girls have
many responsibilities from childhood. They have ability to solve the
problems themselves at any situation. This may help them to have Self
Confidence.
8. The F test shows that government school (m=64.43) IX standard students
are better than private (m=59.18) and aided (m=53.35) in their Self
Confidence. This may be due to the fact that students who are studying in
government schools, they know their skills and talents. They speak in any
common meeting without any fear. They have attitude to slove any
problems. They always join with their friends.So they are better than aided
and private school students in Self-confidence.
9. The chi-square result shows that there is association between fathers
income and self-confidence of high school students. Fathers income

indicates that there is satisfaction of basic needs in the family. Once the
basic needs are satisfied then aspire for greater things in life. Fathers
income satisfy the basic needs of the family. So students need not worry
about economic problems and their future. These make them to have
positive attitude to reach their goal and hence they have more Selfconfidence.
10. Significant relationship exists between intrapersonal intelligence and Self
Confidence of IX standard boys. Generally IX standard boys are much
interested in participating games and social activities to show their own
abilities and talents present. They have keen interest in entertainment
activities and have capacity to take decision on their own. Therefore, they
have good self-confidence.

Based on the present findings the investigator has given the following suggestions for
further research.
1. Influence of intrapersonal intelligence and self-confidence on achievement
in mathematics of high school students could be studied.
2. Relationship between Self-confidence and Intrapersonal intelligence of
higher secondary students.
3. Relationship between multiple intelligence and self-confidence of IX
standard students canbe done.
4. Relationship between self-confidence and self-esteem of teacher trainees
could be analysed.
5. The same study canbe done for higher secondary school students and
college students.
6. Relationship between intrapersonal intelligence and self efficiency of
engineering college students can be studied.
7. Multiple intelligence and performance in sports among students in sports
schools can be studied.
8. The present study may be to districts other than tuticorin revenue district.
