Dear Exams Officer

The Distance Delta is the largest Delta centre with course participants all over the world. We have
a unique arrangement with Cambridge for administering the Delta Module One exam for our
candidates. We undertake to do the administration with Cambridge on behalf of our candidates,
including registration, payment of Cambridge assessment fees, statements of entry, results and
certificates.
One of our course participants would like to sit the Delta Module One exam in your centre. You
need to be a registered Cambridge Assessment exams centre (e.g. for FCE, CAE etc) but do not
need to register as a Delta Module One centre since the Distance Delta remains the candidates
centre.
Your role would be limited to:

Completing a short form we will email to you confirming you are willing to host the
candidates(s) for the Delta Module One exam
Receiving examination papers from Cambridge, storing them securely and
returning the candidates papers to Cambridge after the exam
Holding the exam in accordance with Cambridge regulations, which we will email
to you
Providing a room and invigilator for the exam

Special information for The British Council Exams Officers:

The Distance Delta is a course jointly owned by the British Council and International House
that prepares students for the Cambridge Delta. Distance Delta students usually sit their Delta
exam at their local British Council office at the end of the course. Because the Distance Delta is a

product partly owned by The British Council, it should not expect that British Council makes a
surplus from administering the exam, or even necessarily covers the costs.
It has been agreed agreed with International House that British Council centres will charge
Distance Delta candidates a global fixed fee of 50 for the 3-hour DELTA exam. In addition, they
can charge a 10 courier fee making a total of 60 per candidate. This is because in the UK
Distance Delta candidates pay 50 for the exam and we want it to be clear to overseas candidates
that they are being charged the same as the UK with just the extra charge for courier costs.
Please would you now charge your Distance Delta exam candidates this amount (50 + 10) and
please do make it clear that the additional 10 is to cover the costs of couriering their answer
papers to the UK.
British Council teachers should not be charged anything for the Distance Delta exam the cost
should be covered by the British Council as contribution to their training. Therefore, please dont
charge BC teachers for the exam or the courier costs. If you have any queries with regards to this
matter please contact Bridgette Laws: Bridgette.Laws@britishcouncil.org
We will of course provide any support and advice you need to host the exam.
Kind regards,
Paulette Milego
Distance Delta Programme Manager
