Salary: Circa 35,000 - 45,000
Annual leave: 25 Days

The Role of Investment Manager


The Investment Manager's primary role will be to assist the Managing Director in providing
support to social enterprises to prepare for and obtain investment and procuring the finance
they need. The role is a corporate finance function within Resonances Ventures team. The
Investment Managers clients will range from start-ups through to large organisations.
Responsibilities will include advising senior teams on their business model, impact
objectives, market, governance and investment structuring.

Core responsibilities:

Promoting the business to social enterprises wishing to raise capital.


Identifying social enterprises as potential suitable clients.
Building rapport with the management team of the social enterprise.
Preparing investment briefs to overcome barriers to investment.
Implementing the brief, engaging specialist support from associates and partner
consultancies.
Prepare development appraisal and investment documentation.
Approach and cultivate relationships with investors.
Consult colleagues to identify potential investors amongst their clients.
Manage due diligence whilst supporting investees to develop relationships with
investors.
Identify patterns in clients investment which could lead to the formation of new
funds.
Develop and manage relationships with investors and other corporate partners.
Assist reporting to Board and management.
Deputise for the Managing Director on investment readiness functions.

Secondary responsibilities:

Provide support to the Resonance Groups Investment team developing and


managing impact funds.
Support senior Resonance staffs advise clients on organisational leadership and
management development.
Participate in meetings, conferences and events led or attended by key stakeholders
or potential partners in the sector.
Comply with Financial regulations, legislation and procedures.
Maintain client confidentiality.
Undertake other duties as required.
Ensure that the Finance and Investment Director deputise for the Managing Director.

Person specification:
The Investment Manager will play an important role in the development of the companys
venture consultancy and deal arranging business as well as its growing prominence in the
sector.
Essential experience and personal qualifications:

Experience in investment processes and management consultancy.


Ability to identify opportunities.
Wide understanding of different markets and business models and ability to judge
the quality and motivation of management teams.
Ability to understand, interpret and advise on business and financial strategy for
value led enterprises.
Commercial acumen and ability to source suitable investment opportunities.
Strong financial modelling skills.
Experience in the implementation of systems and performance measurement
processes.
Knowledge and understanding of the FSA, and the role of other financial service
regulators.
Ability to think creatively about investment solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Exceptional influencing and interpersonal skills, able to adapt to different audiences
and build effective relationships.
Strong networking and sales skills.
Motivated by working towards goals and performance targets.
Able to work independently and demonstrate initiative and tenacity completing tasks.
Thorough and detailed approach to organising work and maintaining accurate
records.
Highly professional and ethical approach in representing the company and marketing
its products.
Willing to travel within the UK.
Enthusiasm to work in an entrepreneurial and innovative environment.

Desirable:

Educated to degree standard.


Other relevant professional qualification.
FSA registration.
Knowledge of property sector.
Experience of working within an entrepreneurial business.
Experience of completing and exiting venture capital deals either as investor or
enterprise.
Experience of the social enterprise sector and a desire to help address social issues
through impact investment.
