PREAMBLE

The Consulting Engineering Profession is knowledge based and responsible for the
conceptualisation, planning, engineering, design and effectively managing the
implementation and maintenance of the built and natural environment required to meet
the world economys ever increasing demand for food, water, energy, shelter, health and
economic security.
In the current international and national economic environment, there is an increasing
degree of liberalisation and intra dependence for provision of consultancy services with a
high degree of quality, cost effectiveness and overall excellence.
In view of the major role played by engineering consultancy in the process of
development and also to recognise and promote excellence in engineering consultancy
profession, the Consulting Engineers Association of India have instituted the National
Awards for Excellence in Engineering Consultancy Services.
ABOUT CEAI

Consulting Engineers Association of India (CEAI) is the apex body of engineering

consultancy profession in India. By virtue of amalgamation of the two erstwhile
professional bodies of consulting engineers, Association of Consulting Engineers (ACE)
and National Association of Consulting Engineers (NACE) into a single entity known as
CEAI, in the year 1996, CEAI has, behind it, over 45 years of accumulated knowledge
and experience. CEAI represents the Indian Engineering Consultancy profession at
international level being the Indian Member Association of the International Federation
of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). The Association has been actively promoting the
interests and enhancing the status of the Engineering Consultancy profession in India.
CEAI has been in the forefront in the effort to get statutory recognition for engineering
profession and regulation of the quality level of professional engineers through national
registration system and continued professional development and upgradition.
THE AWARDS

The Awards comprise of the following:

First Prize - A Trophy along with citation

Second Prize A Trophy along with citation
Certificate(s) of Merit

ELIGIBILITY FOR AWARDS

Indian Engineering Consultants and Engineering Consultancy Organisations

practicing the profession for a minimum period of five years

The project for which consultancy services have been provided should have been
completed as on date of application and should not be more than three years old as on
31st March 2005.
A consultancy assignment which has already received an award from any other
Agency/Body is not eligible for the award

CRITERIA FOR AWARDS

The project for which consultancy services have been provided should have resulted
in significant technological, economic or social benefits to the country or to society in
general, which can be verified from the beneficiary. These benefits could result in
better efficiency, productivity, foreign exchange earnings or savings, cost reduction,
etc. through technology upgradation or implementation of innovative methodology
and better quality management.

While the size and value of the project itself may not be major qualifying criteria, the
innovation in the approach to the problems and successful implementation of the
project would merit consideration.

PRESENTATION OF AWARDS

The awards will be presented by an eminent dignitary at the Seminar on Creating

Value through Engineering Consultancy being held on 24-25 March 2006, at New
Delhi.

The time and venue for presentation of the Awards will be intimated to the Awardees.

HOW TO APPLY

Two copies of the proposal along with one soft copy in CD should be submitted on
the prescribed proforma along with supporting documents to substantiate the claims
made

All reports and documentation including drawings and diagrams should be on

standard A4 size sheets

Last date for receipt of application is February 7, 2006.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

The Awards shall be made on the basis of recommendations of a high level

committee.

If in any year, no entry is found suitable for any one or more of the awards, the
awards for the year would not be declared.

Applications found incomplete in any respect shall not be considered for Award.

The decision of the CEAI shall be final and no appeal against it shall be entertained.

Only successful Awardees would be intimated.

The Awardees may have to make presentations on their award winning projects, as
may be decided by CEAI.
