A particle is moving from initial position t = 0 in a positive- x axis as shown in Figure below.
In a positive y axis is given by () = (0.5 + 6) m/s
Position at t = 0 is 0 = (2 6) m

An airliner made an emergency landing at the Los Angeles airport with its nose wheel locked in a position
perpendicular to its normal rolling position. The component of the acceleration in the horizontal direction
of motion is given by () = 0 + 1
from touchdown at t = 0 until the plane comes to rest at t = ts where B > 0, B > 0.

What was the horizontal speed of the airplane at time t = 0 when it first touched down?
3.
A person is standing on top of a hill that slopes downwards uniformly at an angle with respect to the
horizontal. The person throws a stone at an initial angle from the horizontal with an initial speed of v0 .
You may neglect air resistance. What is the horizontal range of the stone when the stone strikes the
ground?

(b) How much the totally distance of the ant for interval time t = 0-20 s? (Assume that the ant change its
direction only at the end of the 5th second

A jet plane which is flying with velocity of 1000 m/s aim to a target at the surface of the Earth. The angle
of the plane to the horizontal plane is 30 and the plane was released a bomb to reach the Earth in
horizontal axis of 800 m. Determine the high of the plane y?
Solusions:
1. a. We obtain the acceleration curve by calculate the velocity of x-axis (v(x)) for each interval of time.
For interval time 0 8
(8) (0)
= = 80 =0 m/s2
For interval time 8 12
(12)(8)
= =
=-3 m/s2

b. Displacement can be calculated from the area under the curve of v(x) vs t:
1
1
= 8 6 + 2 2 6 2 2 6 = 48
Displacement in y-axis is the integral of velocity in y-axis:
12
12
= 0 = 0 0.5 + 6 = 36
So, the magnitude of displacement is
= 2 + 2 = 482 + 362 = 60
c. Position at t = 12 s:
(12) = 0 + = 2 2 + +
(12) = 2 6 + 48 + 36 = 50 + 30 m
d. average velocity from 0-12 s:

The change in the horizontal component of the velocity of the plane is found by integrating the horizontal
component of the acceleration:

The vertical position of the stone is associated to the position of any point on the downward slope is:

Means that the stone will land at the point where the eq. (1) and (2) is equal,
