PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to provide a summary description of the Steam Turbine
Lube Oil system of the PP10CCGT Project Conversion of a Simple Cycle Gas Turbine to
Combined Cycle Power Plant.
The combined cycles and component identification is in accord with KKS Document and
Designation Coding PP10CC-00-YDC-UMO-ABC-001.
Other issues related to the system such as control sizing criteria or commissioning / startup procedure will be thoroughly discussed in dedicated project documents. Same for the
package units for which the selected Vendors will provide the final systems description.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
2.1. FUNCTION
2.1.1.
The distribution inside each steam turbine building is shown in P&I diagram PP10CC-00093MAV-MDD-ABC-001, sheet 6 for combined cycles A11, C19, B15, B27 and A23, and
sheet 7 for combined cycles A12, B16, C110, A24 and B28, including in each combined
cycle:
1) Lube oil skid, supplied by GE along with the steam turbine generator and including as
main components:
Lube oil tank
Lube Oil Circulation Pumps
Coolers
Further information on the lube oil skid (instruments, auxiliary equipment, etc) is
provided in vendors documents (GE documents 103T0868 and 145E3238)

Two identical lube oil purifications systems of the same size(one serving 6 blocks and the
other serving 4 blocks), including the main following equipment and components. The
description of only one of the systems is included in this section for better understanding,
as shown in P&I diagram PP10CC-0009-3MAV-MDD-ABC-001 (sheets 1, 2, 4 and 6):
Two dirty oil pumps (2x100% capacity) will be provided in each combined cycle in order
to convey the oil from the lube oil tank to the treatment and purification system during
turbine shutdowns. Dirty Oil pumps operate with lube oil between 80-40C.
Pumps will include pressure gauges and pressure indicators at the suction and
discharge for proper operation and protection. Y type strainers are placed at both
pumps suctions.
It is an atmospheric tank that will normally receive the oil pumped from any of the four
or six steam turbines that will employ this treatment system. Tank is provided with
temperature indicator, level indicator and transmitters for proper operation and
monitoring.

It is an atmospheric tank that will normally receive the oil pumped from the centrifuge
purifiers. Tank is provided with temperature indicator, level indicator and transmitters
for proper operation and monitoring.
Two clean oil pumps (2x100% capacity) will be provided in order to convey the purified
clean oil from the any of the storage tanks back to the turbine lube oil tank of the
selected combined cycle. Alternatively, oil can be pumped to a tanker for off-site
disposal or to any of the storage tanks (dirty/clean oil) as necessary. Clean Oil pumps
operate with lube oil between 80-40C.
Pumps will include pressure gauges and pressure indicators at the suction and
discharge for proper operation and protection. Y type strainers are placed at both
pumps suctions.
Globe valves (PP10CC-MAV12-AA003 and PP10CC-A115-MAV60-AA002/MAV60AA003) are placed at the pump discharge (located at the recirculation line to clean/dirty
oil tank and at each CC lube oil tank clean oil entrance) to adjust recirculation
clean/dirty oil tank line and each cycle pump working point (discharge pressure @ 5.38
bar(g)).
Clean oil refilling will be accomplished by pumping from a drum by means of 2x100%
drum pumps PP10CC-0009-MAV09-AP001/ MAV10-AP001.

2x100% lube oil purifier systems (one in use, one in standby) PP10CC-0009MAV15/MAV16-AT001, will remove from the lube oil, particles and water, preparing the
lube oil for its re-use.
Each lube oil purifier system is designed for a lube oil flow rate of 5 m3/h and is
composed of one self-cleaning centrifuge purifier and all related equipment (oil transfer
pump, heater, sludge reservoir tank, sludge transfer pump, instrumentation, piping and
hoses).
Water coming from the Service Water network is provided for water injections during
the Self-cleaning lube centrifuge oil purifier phase.
The treated Oil is normally conveyed to the clean Oil storage Tank but it can also be
conveyed to the dirty Oil Storage Tank.
The resultant sludge is conveyed to a tanker for off-site disposal or to the sludge oil
underground pit.
The resultant water effluent is conveyed to the oily water underground network.
For more detailed information about the Lube Oil Purification System equipment, refer to
vendors GEA-WESTFALIA Documentation.
It is an underground concrete pit that will receive the waste oil from the centrifuge
sludge oil tank, via the centrifuge sludge transfer pumps in normal operation or

exceptionally, via the centrifuge sludge oil tank overflow . The Sludge Oil pit includes a
truck off connection for final sludge disposal by truck.
Normal operation
The operation of the purification system shall be initiated manually, when it is required to
start the treatment of the oil. In the same way, manual valves are employed to select the
suction source and discharge of the pumps involved in the oil transfer from/to lube oil
skids, from/to dirty oil tank and from/to clean oil tank.
For good monitoring of each steam turbine lube oil condition, it is recommended to avoid
mixing lube oil from different steam turbines at the clean/dirty tanks and maintain the dirty
and clean oil tanks in good cleaning conditions. To do this, the recommendation is to do
the total oil recovering for one steam turbine and send it back to the steam turbine lube oil
reservoir.
Start-up operation
Once pumps and pipes have been vented off and tank levels are at required level set
point, pumps operation may be started.
For maintenance, operation of pumps and purification package has to be stopped and
manually isolated by means of discharge and suction valves

Pump Failure
If a pump stops for any reason, the other pump (stand-by) will start pumping automatically,
ensuring lube oil flow.
