Gateway of Earth (First)

Our journey into the chakra system begins at the base or root
chakra. In Sanskrit it is referred to as the "Muladhara" which is
drawn from two words meaning "root" and "base or support".
As it is our base in the physical world it aptly describes the function of this chakra
which a powerful anchor that links us with all living things. We are all part of one
universe and share many functions and instincts with other living things.

The base chakra primarily represents the will to survive, without this drive there is
no willingness to battle against adverse circumstances or to adapt to new
situations.

Dancing is very good for grounding.

Go barefoot as much as possible.
House cleaning is not only grounding but clears clutter and makes space
for the new.
Cooking a meal is also grounding.
Hugging a tree and taking care of your plants also had a grounding effect.

The journey up the spinal column begins at the base of the spine, the
"Muladhara". This is the foundation of your whole energy system, the first
building block upon which all other chakras must rest. It relates to the element
earth and therefore to all solid earthly things; such as our bodies, our health, our
survival, our material and monetary existence and our ability to focus our needs.

Sacral or Sexual Chakra

Gateway of the Moon (Second)
Ascending from the root we encounter the second or sacral chakra
namely the sacral or sexual centre. The Sanskrit name for this chakra
is the "Svadhisthana" and means "sweetness" or "one's own abode".
This energy centre, your second chakra bank account (energy storage) relates to
issues of power in the external world - specifically, financial and sexual power as
well as the power in terms of business and social interactions.
It is positioned close to the Muladhara midway between the pubis and the navel
therefore some functions are shared between the two. It remains inactive until
puberty.
Frustration both sexual and creative can be generated here when the life
energies are blocked.

When this chakra awakens it brings increased powers of intuition. It is also said
to bring awareness of the astral form.
When two people make love the energy from their sex chakras mix. Two people,
who really love each other, create a fantastic aura around them when making
love - it can be compared to a forest of fairytale trees, whose flowers and leaves

create an arc above the lovers. This emanates such powerful vibrations, that a lot
of negative karma can be burned away.

Solar Plexus Chakra

Gateway of the Sun (Third)
The digestive system is contained in the abdomen where the
solar plexus chakra is located. Just as the physical digestive
system transmutes and extracts energy from food, so this plexus
chakra extracts and stores Chi, Prana, Ki or Life Force Energy.
This is the energy that permeates all life; where there is Chi or
Prana there is life.
Each of the chakras is a centre for this energy but it is generated and distributed
by the solar plexus chakra or "Manipura". This life force energy can be directed to
any of the body's systems through the power of imagination in conjunction with a
sound knowledge of your body.
In the language of energy, it is the area of the body that is the main "receiver" for
the first impressions a person receives in every situation he or she enters,
including the first received from people. The aptly-named "gut reaction" or "gut
instinct" is a highly intuitive response generated from impressions received
through the solar plexus. Its sensitive nature gleans impressions on the energy
level that inevitably prove to be more accurate than physical impressions. Always

The Heart Chakra

Gateway of the Winds (Fourth)
Moving upwards from the solar plexus we encounter
the heart chakra or "Anahata" which means
"unstruck" or unbeaten. This refers to a sound that is
heard, yet it is not struck.
In other words reference is made to an eternal sound
not made by human hands and marks the entry,
which takes place at this chakra, into the higher levels
of consciousness.
This chakra is the centre chakra of the body. It is the
centre of your body and metaphorically speaking, love is the centre of your life. A
person can effectively handle any number of crises or stresses if he or she has a
strong, loving support system.

Furthermore, as we peel away all of the layers involved in the process of

personal (and oftentimes professional) decision making, inevitably what remains
at the core of why we choose what we do is that we are really choosing the path
that will bring us love. Even if the words we use to describe our goal are words
like financial security, social acceptance or political power, love is still the primary
motivator behind our choices.
Ultimately, without love, remaining healthy, much less healing oneself, is almost
impossible.

The Throat Chakra

Gateway of Time and Space (Fifth)
The throat chakra represents our power to communicate verbally and the
development of speech is unique to the human race. We can sing, shout,
whisper or laugh; we can cry or scream.
The human voice can conceal the truth or reveal the truth. It can convey emotion
and information. It can express an immense range of subtle meanings for
example often times a lie can be detected in the voice; by noticing a lack of
certainty and a quality of falsity.
Self expression and creativity are crucial to health - not just physical health. The
creation of a healthy life - as well as a healthy body - requires that a person
maintain dominion over his or her life and their throat chakra. This includes
having the inner capacity to speak up on behalf of one's own needs.
The inability to communicate your feelings, your ideas, your sorrow, your anger
or your joy is like pouring concrete around your heart and your throat. This
blockage aborts the growth process and causes destructive behavioural to begin
that are guaranteed to contaminate every intimate relationship.

The Third Eye or Brow Chakra

The third eye chakra is particularly recognised as the entry point of intuition,
wisdom and inspiration. The quality of intuition that is associated with this energy
centre differs from the intuition of the solar plexus chakra.
Solar Plexus guidance relates to assistance provided on daily, practical matters.
The intuition of the sixth chakra is of a higher, more universal and transcendent
nature, providing individuals with insights relating to the spiritual significance of
their lives and Life itself.
Intuitive skills can be developed into precise tools of perception.
Just as a sighted person in a crowd of blind people would naturally have the
advantage that sight brings, so would a person with an awakened third eye of the
soul have the advantage of all-round vision.
The third eye or "Ajna" chakra is located at the brow, at the junction of the ida,
pingala and sushumna meridians. The ida and pingala ends at this junction while
the sushumna rises to the crown. The merging of the three energies brings

The Crown Chakra

Gateway of the Void (Seventh)
The crown chakra is said to be the chakra of consciousness and
pure awareness, the master chakra that controls all the others.
In the language of energy, the seventh chakra is the entry point of human life
force itself - an invisible current of energy that endlessly pours into the human
energy system, nourishing every part of the body, the mind and the spirit.
A healthy life force has vitality and very clear focus to it. This aspect of focus is
very significant because it means that the person has a level of awareness
regarding where he or she invests the energy of their life. In other words, it
indicates that a person is mindful of his or her personal value and as such,
invests energy, time and attention with care, thoughtfulness and wisdom.
The colour for this chakra is a mixture of Silver, Gold and White/Violet. The silver
in this chakra is the feminine energy of creation, the gold in the chakra is the
masculine energy of creation, and the white/violet light is truth and clarity which
give clear vision of the truth and protection.
This centre is our connection to the greater world beyond, to a timeless, space
less place of all-knowing. When developed, this chakra brings us knowledge,
wisdom, understanding, spiritual connection and bliss.

When this chakra is open, you connect with the Godhead, the "All That Is" and
the Source of the White Light comes into your energy field.
