Strength:
1. I had started the lesson with an interesting set induction. Incorporating magic and
theatricality. I arouse the pupils interest by making them guess the pictures that was
about to come out of my hat. In addition, I had also utilised pictures which attracts the
pupils attention and aid them in their understanding of the text and mind map given. It
helps them focus on the character mentioned inside the text.
The incorporation of
technology in terms of the use of the projector also gives an enormous advantage. It
saves time and use little resources which is a relief for me. Besides that, I had managed
to introduce to my pupils the mind map concept and how to use it which is a personal
achievement that I am proud of.
Weaknesses:
1. Although the set induction was interesting, it lost its connection to the pre-writing activity.
There was a gap that made the transition from the set induction to the pre-writing pretty
awkward. For example, I had the pupils guess what kind of occupation that they see
from the picture and then without any follow up I just introduce to the pupils the text for
the pre-writing. Other than that, I did not explain thoroughly how to transfer the
information from the text to the mind map. During the pre-writing, I only taught the pupils
how to put the underlined information in the mind map. Instead, I should also explain to
my pupils that for the hobby section for example, they should also write play before any
sport instead of just mentioning their hobby, badminton. Its supposed to be written as
play badminton. The other thing was that my material was unsuitable for my pupils to

present during their group work. I suppose the excuse of having no budget seems to be
a bit lame and I should instead had my pupils used mahjong paper to present instead of
A4 paper. This had caused my pupils to be bored and started to do other stuff because
they cant see the mind map their friends were presenting. The last of my weakness
portrayed during my lesson would be my closure. It was a bit hasty because Ive ran out
of ideas and coupled with the limited time, it was badly done. The lesson was supposed
to be summarised by asking the pupils to try to model the text but instead I just ask one
pupil to say his name out. It was terrible.
New awareness related to experiences outside the classroom or daily life
I realized that whats written on a paper might not be as good as the actual situation. I
now know that in order to be more prepared, I need to become much more aware of my
surroundings and also expect the unexpected.
Suggestions and improvements:
For my next lesson, I need to be more prepared. Prepared here means that my planning
of the lesson should be better. I need to practice on how to follow up things that I asks to
my pupils during my set induction so that when I begin my presentation stage, there will
not be any gap between them. Furthermore, I need to review all my materials before I
conduct my lesson to make its suitable to be used in class. I also need to work on my
closure. I need to be more creative when summarising my lesson. For example, by
asking my pupils to tell me what they had learnt that day.
