Job analysis is the process of identifying and determining the tasks, duties, skills, and qualifications required for a job. This information is used to create job descriptions and specifications. Job evaluation is the systematic comparison of jobs to assess their relative worth and establish a rational pay structure. Joan believes that conducting job analysis and evaluation for all jobs in the organization would be too time consuming and require too much effort. The assistant agrees with Joan for two reasons: first, the processes would be very time intensive, especially for jobs that frequently change; second, they would require a significant amount of human effort to customize the analysis and data collection for each different job.

1. Briefly explain the job analysis and job evaluation.
Job Analysis is a process to identify and determine in detail the particular job duties and requirements and the relative importance of these duties for a given job. Job Analysis can be defined as a process where judgements are made about data collected on a job. According to Mondy, job analysis is the systematic process of determining the skills, duties, and knowledge required for performing jobs in an organization. From job analysis information, both job descriptions and job specifications can be prepared. Job description is a document that provides information regarding the essential tasks, duties, and responsibilities of a job. While, job specification is a document that outlines the minimum acceptable qualifications a person should possess to perform a particular job. Meanwhile job evaluation is a systematic way of determining the value or worth of a job in relation to other jobs in an organization. Job evaluation tries to make a systematic comparison between jobs to assess their relative worth for the purpose of establishing a rational pay structure. 2. What is your opinion on Joans view on job analysis and job evaluation? State your stand and provide two reasons related to the above scenario. In our opinion on Joans view on job analysis and job evaluation is we agree that is not relevant for all jobs in the organization to be conducted job analysis and job evaluation. This is because first it will be time consuming and second involved lots of human effort. Time consuming is the biggest disadvantage of job analysis and job evaluation process. It is a major limitation especially when jobs change frequently. It also be time consuming to collect and gather the data needed. Furthermore, it requires different methods of job analysis on every single jobs that exists in the organization in order to collect to reliable data for important purposes such as pay structure. In this case, we completely agree with Joans view which is time would be better spent on other concerns such as recruiting new staff. Involving a lots of human effort is one of the other disadvantage of conducting job analysis and job evaluation. As every job carries different information and there is no set pattern, customized information is to be collected for different jobs. The process the process needs to be conducted separately for collecting and recording job-related data. In this cases, it will be disadvantage to Deborah to conducting job analysis and job evaluation. This will take
the whole staff in the organization to take part in the process of collecting data. So, we are exactly agree with Joans view.
