IN THE COLD STORAGE AND PACK HOUSES.

VOLTAS is part of the TATA group of companies and is a front runner among
the corporate sector in the air conditioning and refrigeration field, having been a
pioneer in this field for over five decades.
VOLTAS were the first company in India to begin indigenous manufacture of the
complete range of AC&R equipment such as open type reciprocating
compressors, heat exchangers, etc.
Our product range today encompasses the full range of AC&R equipment from
hermetic, semi-hermetic and open type reciprocating compressors as well as
centrifugal compressors and Absorption Chillers (steam as well as direct fired),
with HITACHI collaboration. Shell & Tube Heat exchangers with STANDARD
REF USA Collaboration, as well as a host of other products designed and
developed by us such as Room Air Conditioners, Split and Package Units,
Display Coolers, Freezers, etc.
We are proud of the fact that apart from being a leader in the AC&R field,
VOLTAS has actively participating in the national building exercise by providing
and installing air conditioning systems for critical applications such as the
indigenously built frigates for the Indian Navy, AC systems for ISRO at Thumba
and Sriharikota, Clean Room facilities for satellite assembly at DOS and other
similar facilities for various defense establishments at DRDO, BDL, BEL, ITI, etc.
VOLTAS expertise however does not stop at providing air conditioning facilities,
but also encompasses Refrigeration Applications for Process Industries in the
Pharmaceutical, Chemical and Food Processing Industry.
The first indigenously built Potato Storage was set up by us in the early 40s.
When NDDB began their Operation Flood Programme, Voltas were the first to
design and build the Ice Accumulation System for the Motor Dairies at Delhi,
Calcutta and Chennai. In the 70s again when NDDB began setting up their Bulk
Milk Vending Booths at Delhi and Chennai, Voltas were the first to design and
install the refrigeration system. Voltas was one of the first companies to be
chosen by WHO as a Service Provider for the installation of Walk-in-Coolers for
various Medical Centers throughout India. In the Sericulture Industry, Voltas
was once again the forerunner for setting up indigenously the Cold Storage
Facilities for their Research and Breeding Centers all over the country.

In the early 70s Voltas once again gave the lead in setting up of numerous Cold
Storages and Freezing Plants, Plate Freezers, Blast Freezers and Ice Plants all
along the Coast to give thrust to the sea food processing and export industry.
We are presently executing a major cold storage renovation project @ MUMBAI
involving complete design, Supply, Installation and Commissioning of their cold
store facilities. The total project cost is in excess of 150 Lakhs. Aside from
manufacturing our own Refrigeration equipment i.e., Compressor, condenser
and cooling units etc., we are in association with reputed manufacturers of cold
room prefabricated panels (both in India and from sources abroad) can handle
any size of job from small cold room to complete cold storages, complexes,
having multi chamber for storage of variety of products from temperature of +5
Deg. C. to as low as 30 Deg. C and below.
We have the in-house capabilities for designing and building complete turn key
cold storage installations. In Karnataka we have our branch office located in
Bangalore, which is staffed by a team of over 30 trained and experienced
engineers and supported by our service center with trained supervisors and
technicians.
During the recent past we have successfully completed a wide variety of
refrigeration plants.
VIL carries out complete turnkey contracting projects involving civil
construction, plumbing and building management system, electrification
projects, pollution control, water treatment, landscaping, agro development, etc.,
both in the International as well as Domestic markets. VIL has fully met with the
stringent engineering standards set by international consultants such as Sir
Alexander Gibbs, Betchel Corpn., Buckle & Partners, Kennedy & Donkin, Ralph
Parson International, Sotechni, Italy, Tata Consulting Engineers, W.S. Atkins &
White & Young Emirates, etc.
The AC&R Division of Voltas has also most 600 trained and experienced
engineers spread over 20 cities all over the country. Among the above, we have a
dedicated team of engineers who are exclusively earmarked for handling the
refrigeration projects.
We also have service centers / service representatives located in Mangalore,
Mysore, Belgaum etc., to take care of the interior parts of the state.
