Re: Leadership Motivation and Athletes Performance Survey
The study purpose is to examine the effects of athletes pre-competition motivation on sports
performance. Particularly, the survey will analyze the effects of self-determined motivation on
athletes in-game performance as well as the effects of leadership motivation on athletes in
practice and performance.
If you agree to participate indirectly, the survey will involve you in an interview that will include
demographic and Likert questions on your age, status, residence, ethnicity, education, experience
as an athlete or a coach, and the work contract. For the coach, the study will ask you the kind of
motivation you offer to the athletes, the experience as a head coach, the challenges in your
duties, your relationship with the athletes, and how you help your athletes in their personal life
and in solving conflicts. The interview will take at most twenty minutes. Essentially, with your
permission, the survey would wish to tape-record the interview.
The survey will maintain confidentiality throughout the exercise. Although the survey will
employ a video or tape recorder, it will transfer the information to password protected computer
and save it in a password-protected file. Additionally, all the identifying names, characteristics,
and titles will be substituted or omitted. The survey will also use fictitious or pseudonyms when
doing reports. Moreover, the recordings will be deleted in no later than two months from the time
of the interview. The references and quotations of the final report will not contain any
identification information.

Notably, your participation is completely voluntary. Therefore, you have a right to withdraw, take
a break, redirect the questioning line, skip a question, or terminate the interview without any
penalty or negative effect on our relationship. In effect, the survey requires you to participate and
answer the questions at the extent of your comfort.
Thank you.

F. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION

The survey employed quantitative methods to analyze the collected data. The assessment
of this type of research consists of statistically examining scores gathered on instruments such as
questionnaires or specifications to answer research questions or to analyze hypotheses (Sits 4).
The frequencies and percentages for each item on survey were calculated. Eventually, the study
analyzed the results through descriptive statistics and reported in the result chapter. The survey
transcribed the audio-taped responses from the qualitative interview to a hard copy for data
analysis. Similarly, the survey transcribed the written responses from qualitative survey to a hard
copy for effective analysis.
According to the analysis, coaches who are more athlete-oriented and highly taskdirected produce athletes with a compatible motivational style to that of their coaches. As a
result, the team remains successful in its goals. Motivational trainers demand their athletes to
observe an appropriate pattern of motivational environment such as mastery of the motivational
setting in their squads (Greasley 24). Such coaches also prefer to lead athletes, who appreciate
and are concerned about the game. Thus, the athletes should be prepared to advance, feel

Surname 8
capable, and manage pressure while performing or contending (Blaxter, Christina and Malcolm
27). Therefore, coaches should be informative, helpful, encouraging, motivational, and focused
to enhance improvement in performance (Chernick and Robert 20).
The survey also revealed that the athletes gain morale with the years of experience. The
older athletes were found to offer much of their time in the field. The survey also found them to
be more tolerant with their competitors than the new members. Basing on gender, the survey
found the single athletes to have more time for practice than the married athletes. However,
although married, the older athletes were found to dedicate much of their time in practice .Thus,
the survey proved the hypothesis that experience is a major motivating factor in athletics.
However, the athletes motivation in practice before and after competition is highly influenced by
the coach.
