aggregated

<subnet-address>

IP address of the aggregate subnet, in dotted

decimal format

<subnet-mask>

Mask of the aggregate subnet, in dotted

decimal format

This command is disabled by default.

This command configures the aggregation policy, and the subpolicies under it. The sub-policies are related with count .

The use of the summary-only keyword not only creates the

aggregate routes but also suppresses advertisements of morespecific routes to all neighbors.

This example describes how to generate the aggregation route

10.0.0.0/8 when the subnet 10.0.0.0/8 in the routing table
appears.
ZXR10(config)#router bgp 1
ZXR10(config-router)#aggregate-address 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 count 0

Example

This command is disabled by default.

To select the best path among many selectable paths, the MED
is one of the considered factors. It is prior to select the path
with lower value of the MED other than that with higher one.

During the process of selecting the best path, the comparison

of the MED is only for paths in the same autonomous system by
default. But after the configuration of this command, the comparison of the MED is for various paths whichever autonomous
system they are from.

This example allows the comparison of the MED for paths from
neighbors in different autonomous systems.

unicast address family on all neighbors.
Router configuration
bgp default ipv4-unicast
no bgp default ipv4-unicast

Defaults
Instructions

This command is enabled by default.

The extension BGP supports the negotiation of the peer address.
If the device does not expect to handle normal Ipv4 routes (such
as MPLS-VPN), this negotiation can be disabled.

Tip:
When a neighbor is created by using the negibor active command
under the IPv4 unicast address family, the neighbor will inherit
previous BGP configuration. The change of the BGP configuration
after the creation of the neighbor does not affect the neighbor.

default: 100. Higher is more preferred

Instructions

When there are routes advertised to the peers including IBGP peers
and external peers in the confederation, this command can be used
to set the local preference of the routes. And the local preference
affects the peers selection of the routes. If advertised routes are
obtained by other peer and it has already had a local preference,
this value will not cover the existing value.

Defaults
Instructions

20

The behavior of this command is enabled by default.

According to RFC1771, BGP sessions enter Idle status because of
the wrong link, it needs Start event to enter the Connect status.

Confidential and Proprietary Information of ZTE CORPORATION

Chapter 2 BGP Protocol

If this case takes place automatically, it is more likely to cause

flapping routes. To avoid this case, it is recommended to double
the time of every attempt of reconnection.
If local router is in the Idle status, it will immediately attempt
to establish the link. If it fails, the time of the next attempt of
reestablishment will be doubled.
After the use of this command, there is no need to wait the double time to make the reestablishment, but the double time is still
recorded. If this command is invalid, the router will attempt to
reestablish the link with the recorded double time.
Example

This example describes how to disable the function of immediately

Defaults

The advertisement of a default route is disabled by default.

Instructions

This command is used to distribute a default route to BGP routing

information database and advertise the distributed default route
to all neighbors. A redistribution statement must be configured to
complete this configuration, or the default route will not be advertised.

Example

This example describes how to allow the distribution of default

routes.

Access list number, range: 1~199

permit

<as-regular-expressi

autonomous system regular expression

There is no definition of access list by default.

BGP autonomous system access list can be used to filter both

inbound and outbound BGP routes. In addition, weight can
be allocated on the basis of a group of filters. Every filter is
actually an access list based on the regular expression.

If updates with path information match the regular expression

which is in ASCII format, the parameter permit or deny will
be used . Local autonomous system number is not included in
autonomous system paths.

To define a BGP access list, use the ip as-path access-list

command in global configuration mode. To apply for a special
access list, use the neighbor route command in router configuration mode.

In this example, the BGP neighbor of the router with the IP address
128.125.1.1 do not to send advertisements of any path from the
adjacent autonomous system 123.

<value>

Time interval in seconds, range: 1~600,

default: 30 seconds

Defaults

The path attribute with its own autonomous system number is not

Instructions

To prevent the loopback of BGP routes, in general, the path attribute is used to record crossed autonomous systems. When the
path attribute has its own autonomous system number, it indicates
loopback appears and this route should be invalid.
However, as the application of the network becomes more and
more complex, especially the application of HUB-SPOKE model of
MPLS-VPN, it may appears that some autonomous system must
be crossed to meet the users requirement.

neighbor remove-private-as
Purpose

Command Modes
Syntax

Use this command to filter the private autonomous system in the

routes advertised to the neighbors or the neighbor peer groups.
Disable the attribute with the no form of this command.
Router configuration and address family configuration
neighbor [<ipv4-address>|<ipv6-address>|<peer-group-nam
e>] remove-private-as
no neighbor [<ipv4-address>|<ipv6-address>|<peer-group-na
me>] remove-private-as

Syntax
Description

Defaults
Instructions

<ipv4-address>

IPv4 address of the neighbor

<ipv6-address>

IPv6 address of the neighbor

<peer-group-name>

Peer group name

Private AS number is filtered by default.

Since the quantity of AS number is limited, the private AS number can be used to divide a large AS into multiple areas connected by EBGP. The private autonomous system will be removed when the area accesses the Internet. In this way, the
inside area is transparent for the Internet.

The range of the private AS is from 64512 to 65535.

Tip:
When a confederation is configured, since the peers in the confederation are identified with private autonomous system, it may
cause the route loopback if the private AS is removed. As a result,
this command is ineffective in EBGP peers inside the confederation.

Example

This example describes how to remove the private autonomous

system when routes are advertised to the BGP neighbor 1.1.1.1.
ZXR10(config)#router bgp 1
ZXR10(config-router)#neighbor 1.1.1.1 remove-private-as

Syntax
Description

Instructions

Example

<ipv4-address>

IPv4 address of the neighbor

<ipv6-address>

IPv6 address of the neighbor

<peer-group-name>

Peer group name

In some ISP networks, the interior BGP network is extremely

large (each router has more than 100 internal BGP sessions).
The route reflector is introduced to reduce the complexity, that
is, a central router is specified as the focus of internal BGP session. Multiple BGP routers can be equaled to the route reflector
and then the multiple route reflectors are equaled.

If all the clients are invalid, local reflector will not be a route
reflector.

It is recommended to use this command only when there are

over 100 BGP sessions in each router.

This example describes how to configure the BGP neighbor 1.1.1.1

as route reflector client peer.

ZXR10 8900 Series Command Reference (IP Routing Volume II)

Instructions

When the local BGP policy is adjusted, the routes that were denied
before may be enabled now. If this command is not configured,
the neighbor must retransmit routes and it must be reset. After
the use of this command, the routes that are denied before can be
enabled again without resetting the neighbor.
However, the use of this command may cause that local router
stores large number of denied routes and this will use plenty of
memory. As a result, it is recommended to use the command
under the guide of network expert.
If the neighbor supports route refreshing capability, this command
is unnecessary. Even though this command is configured, it equals
to the case in which there is no such configuration.

Example

This example describes how to make the BGP neighbor 1.1.1.1

support soft reconfiguration.
ZXR10(config)#router bgp 1
ZXR10(config-router)#neighbor 1.1.1.1 soft-reconfiguration

match as-path <path-list-number>[<path-list-number>]
no match as-path <path-list-number>[<path-list-number>]

Syntax
Description

<path-list-number>

AS path access list number, range: 1~199

Defaults

There is no definition of the match of BGP AS path access list by

default.

Instructions

One route map is divided into several parts. The routes that does
not match at least one match option (this option is related with the
route-map command) will be ignored. That is to say, routes are
not advertised to the output route map, and input route map does
not accept routes. If only some data is expected to be modified,
the second route map area must be configured with explicit match.

Example

This example describes how to make autonomous system path

matched with BGP AS path access list 20.

Syntax
Description

Defaults
Instructions

<access-list-number>

Access list number, range: 1~199 or

1000~1999

<prefix-list-name>

Prefix-list name, 1~16 characters (for router)

The route is distributed freely, and it is not required to match the

address specified by the access list by default.

Redistributing route
Use the route-map command in global configuration mode
and the match and set commands in route map configuration
mode to define the conditions for redistributing routes from one
routing protocol to another. Each route-map command has a
series of associated match and set commands. The match
command specifies the match indices, that is, the condition to
allow the redistribution. The set command specifies the preserved operation, that is, it conducts the specific redistribution
when the match indices specified by the match command are
met.

The match command has many types that can be presented in

any order, but all the match commands should be permitted
so that routes can be redistributed by the preserved operation
set by the set command. The no form of the match command
cancels the specified match index.

When the route is delivered through a route map which can

be divided into several parts. Compared with the match item
related with the route-map command, the route without any
matched item will be discarded. That is to say, the route cannot be advertised to the output route map, and it cannot be
received by the input route map. If only some data are to be
modified, the second route map part with detailed match item
must be configured.

Policy route
Use the route-map command in global configuration mode
and the match and set commands to make packets corresponding to this match condition forwarded along the specified
path.

Example

In this example, the routes whose address is specified by the access list 5 or 80 satisfy the match condition.
