Prayer for the Week

The prayer is for use by churches and individuals ahead of the vote on June 23.
God of truth,
give us grace to debate the issues in this referendum
with honesty and openness.
Give generosity to those who seek to form opinion
and discernment to those who vote,
that our nation may prosper
and that with all the peoples of Europe
we may work for peace and the common good;
for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Headteachers Comments
Y11
The final GCSE exam takes place on Tuesday and I would like to thank our students for the way they have
conducted themselves throughout this very important time. I wish you all the best for your results in the
Summer and sincerely hope I will see you in Y12 in September

Catholic Partnership
Congratulations to Jessica Dixon, Rosina Rigali and Rose Allen who competed in the Catholic Partnership
Rocket Challenge. We have a history of success in this event and I am delighted to say that the girls
continued with our high standards and finished first in the design aspect of the competition. I have been
informed that you were a credit to the school and delivered an excellent performance.

Quiz about Seafarers

1. Teesport at Seal Sands is one of the UKs major ports. You can often see the ships off the coast of
Hartlepool going into and out of the port near the Blue Lagoon. How many ships use Teesport in
one year?
2. The people who work on the ships are called seafarers. Which countries do most of the seafarers
who use Teesport come from?
3. How long do seafarers spend at sea before they can return home?

Answers to Quiz about Seafarers

1. 5000 ships use Teesport every year. They transport 40 million tons of cargo.
2. Most of the seafarers who use Teesport come from The Philippines, China, India, Russia, Latvia,
Ukraine, The Netherlands, Norway, Sri Lanka and South Korea.
3. Most seafarers spend between 3 and 10 months at sea without a break to return home. They use
centres like the Mission to Seafarers and organisations like Stella Maris on Teesport to Skype, email
and buy mobile top up cards to communicate with their families.

Thought for the Week about the Sea

In the Bible, there is a story about Jesus making a great sea storm peaceful and quiet. Do you have
any storms in your life? Why not ask Jesus to make it peaceful and quiet.
