Writing Section Please answer the following questions.

1. Please explain why you are the right type of person to teach overseas.
I’m an independent, hard working and dedicated individual. I always give 100% and thrive on
meeting new people, new experiences and traveling to new places. I am a friendly, out going and
intelligent person and I would enjoy the challenge of teaching in Korea. Currently I am keen to
commit to a year in South Korea, but may wish to stay longer.

2. Please explain what qualities you think are necessary to be a good teacher.
A good teacher should have an abundance of patience; be a good listener; always put his/her pupil’s
needs first and be dedicated to enhancing the skills and enriching the lives of those she/he teaches. A
good teacher should show initiative, drive and passion for teaching and build strong relationships
with those she/he teaches.

3. Please describe how you would deal with a workplace dispute with another co-worker or supervisor.
I would stay calm and believe that good communication is the key to solving any dispute. Talking
through any issues or problems is often the best way to deal with such a situation and sometimes it
is best to involve a third party in order to mediate/ provide additional advice on the situation. It is
always important to stay professional, and pupils should be kept out of any dispute at all times.

4. Please describe some actions you could take if you began feeling homesick or lonely while in Korea.
I would keep myself busy and try not to dwell on feeling homesick or lonely. I would go out with
friends, take up an evening class or simply go to the Gym. Feeling homesick is probably inevitable
at some point, but I would tell myself this experience is a fantastic opportunity and that I’ll see my
friends and family soon enough. I can always call them on the telephone, or send them an email.

5. Do you have any other plans for your time in Korea? (Further study, hobbies to pursue, places to
visit?)
I would like to travel within the country and am keen to visit Japan. I am keen to join a Gym and
would like to further my studies and communication skills by learning the language.
