RAIL MOVEMENT

entral Government of Indias presentiment of
transforming Hyderabad into one of the top class cities came
with the hunch for the project of HMR (Hyderabad Metro
Rail Limited). Dr. Mohanty (IAS) being the Chair person,
promulgated to open the tender for the project. Several Giant
players came forward with their innovative ideas and proposals,
but it was L & T with their notable illustrations & eminent
track record managed to grab the tender.
Moving forward, L& T opened a tender for top metro
coach manufacturing companies in which Hyundai Rotem
Korea loomed and got the tender for manufacturing Metro
coaches for HMR. Hyundai Rotem being a group company of
Hyundai Motor selected Hyundai Glovis Korea to carry out
the transportation from Korea to India and further the Inland
transportation to be carried out by Hyundai Glovis India.
We being a pioneer in the field of Car Carriers, Container
and Bulk cargo transportation were seeking an opportunity to
become distinguished transporters in the field of Project Cargo.
As we got the tender we grasped onto it, although at first which
seemed to be an extra-ordinary project, but nevertheless we

Inside Glovis
were able to carry out the activities and will continue to provide good service to
our customers.
To give a brief introduction, Metro coach ODCs are one of the most risky of
its kind, therefore, safety measures had to be taken as the foremost apprehension
for transportation. Hence, we had to lay down certain guidelines for the same.
Months before we received the consignment at Port, we conducted a route survey
with the view to find out the hurdles and obstacles that would be critical in the
Inland transportation from Chennai to Hyderabad via Ongole/Narketpally.
Finally, with a detailed background study and coordination with Rotem and L&T
we set off for the transportation of the first metro coach. Several Procedures and
formalities had to be followed such as the Customs Clearance, documentation etc.
Apart from these, cooperation of National Highway Authority of India, Govt. of
India and several Govt. official of state was highly appreciable. In a transit time
of a week our mission to unload the Metro coach at Uppal depot on the rails was
a great success, using the 4 point lift system which are very rare and not every
logistics oriented company in India have the expertise/technique to use it.
The transportation of Metro coaches is huge voluminous project as far as
development of Hyderabad into a Hi-tech city is concerned. We at Glovis are
very excited about the project and hope to serve many more cities towards the
development of India.

Beach
Cleanup

t was a fine morning in April when more
than 15 Glovis-ians along with more than a
100 representatives of the Korean Association
of Chennai, and employees of various Korean
companies across the town gathered at one
spot, the marina beach light house. The
mission? To clean it up!
The event was well organized where caps,
gloves and garbage bags were given out. The
event was kick started by a gong at 7:00 am
sharp. Glovis-ians, some of them even with
family members for additional support set out
to clean the marina with all the others.
For the Glovis-ians, though it was essentially
an act of corporate social responsibility and
civic sense, we all had fun in the process. And
by being together outside of the work
environment. The event wrapped up with a
group photo session. Glovis-ians went ahead
for a happy brunch before dispersing.

We really do love our Marina!
