THE WORD FORMATION PROCESSES USED IN THE TITLE OF INDONESIAN

Introduction
Title becomes one of the important things when the art worker creating some

masterpieces. For instance songwriter or song composer. The Songwriter has to create an
interesting title relating to the content of lyric. The songwriter tries to find out the appropriate
title by not only using single word but also by forming new word.
Word formation process is understood as the linguistics study of forming words and
its relation with the meaning. From the explanations the writer conducts this research by using
word formation theory since it deals with forming of words. The writer will analyze the word
formation in the title of Indonesian Dangdut song. We can easy remember a nice song from the
title of the song itself. From this research the people will understand well how words are formed
in the title of the song.
There are two research problems
1. What is the type of word formation used in the title of Indonesian Dangdut song?
2. What is the meaning of word formation found in the title of Indonesian Dangdut song?

Citra Haryati (2013) that investigated the word formation in name of food and
beverage. The other researcher Kusuma Wijaya (2009) that analyzed about the word
formation in Cosmo Girl magazine.

Method
Research Method: Qualitative approach
Data Source: The title of Indonesian

Data collection: First, the writer will take some notes to write the data.
Second, he will browse to the internet to find the data. Third, he will do the
observation. Fourth, he will find the title of Indonesian Dandut song in the
website and focus on the title with new words. Last, making transcription and

list on the table.

Data Analysis: First, the writer will classify the songs title belongs to the
word formation. Second, he will describe the word formation of each title
which has been classified. Last, he will find the meaning of each title.

The title above could be categorized into blending. Blends are compound
word that is created by combining partial of word forms belonging to two or more

different bases. Blending is a combination of two separate forms to produce a single

lexeme. The word Catri is created by combining two bases.
4.2 Data 1

In this title, there are two bases of word. The word Catri comes from the the
combining words N+N. The word Catri comes from the words Calon Istri. The
songwriter combines two separate forms to produce a single lexeme.
