Sub.: Requirement of Pharmacists on Contract basis [Skilled Labour]

at Area Hospital, Ramagudam Reg.
000

The Hospital Pharmacy of Area Hospital, Ramagundam is facing problems with acute
shortage of pharmacists to maintain Main Medical Stores and Central Pharmacy with the
present Staff of 10 Pharmacists.
Out of the above, 6 are working at Main Medical Stores, 3 at Central Pharmacy and 1 is
posted at Sector-3 Dispensary, 8Incl Colony.
The Central Pharmacy was introduced 4 years ago with the concept of issuing drugs of all
Outpatient Deptt. (9 Deptt) at one place with 6 counters to be operated with a minimum
of 5 (2 counters for general drugs issuing, 2 for Chronic disease drugs and 1 counter for
Registration & HMS Data entry (for employees to track defaulters), which should be first &
vital counter and is lacking now and is run with 3 Pharmacists and a general mazdoor
(Female).
Before the introduction of Central Pharmacy, the Pharmacists strength was 19 with
Outpatient drugs being issued by Staff Nurses (about 9 S/N) of concerned OP Dept.
After introduction of Central Pharmacy the Pharmacists strength has slowly decreased to
10 owing to Transfers of Pharmacists to other Divisions -7, on Superannuation 3, with no
replacement, taking the load of issuing drugs and other related works for 9 OP Dept at
Central pharmacy with no Staff Nurses assistance as a policy.
The overall Outpatient Statistics for Pharmacy, per day is an average of 1000 patients [300
chronic disease sufferers; 100 (Retd) and about 600 general patients]
Earlier at Main Medical Stores, the Sundry, Linen and Stationery were looked after by a
clerk who was taken out due to shortage of clerks and only one clerk is left to be engaged
in bills settlement, deliveries of stocks, correspondence with Corp Purchase dept etc.
In addition to the above, the Pharmacy has to maintain the records of nearly 22, 684
patients who regularly attend our Hospitals, importantly drugs of chronic diseases for
employees, dependants, retired persons etc whose exchequer lies a lot on the Company.
Due to shortage of Pharmacists, there is a possibility of ineffectiveness in maintaining
records, physical verification of drugs stock position with added caution to look for expiry
dates, annual / part purchase projections, LP purchase formalities and is a probability of
altered excellence of Hospital Pharmacy.
The present position of Pharmacists (with details of transfers) and workload at Main Stored
and Central pharmacy is tagged as C1.
Hence, it is requested kindly sanction for engaging 4 (Four) Pharmacists on Contract basis
under skilled labour with wages paid through Civil Dept, RGI against due musters raised by
Dy CMO (Adm), Area Hospital , RG.
Submitted for approval please.
