Smoking

Smoking is a practice in which a substance, most commonly tobacco and/or cannabis, is burned
and the smoke is tasted or inhaled.The most common method of smoking today is through
cigarettes, primarily industrially manufactured but also hand-rolled from loose tobacco and
rolling paper.Smoking is one of the most common forms of recreational drug use.
Passive smoking is the inhalation of smoke, called second-hand smoke (SHS), or environmental
tobacco smoke (ETS), by persons other than the intended 'active' smoker. It is also called
secondhand smoking.

Disadvantages:
Smoking is harmful at any age and has serious consequences for the components of
fitness.It

increases the likelihood of heart malfunction.


increases the likelihood of blockages in the veins and arteries.
causes damage to and reduces the capacity and efficiency of the lungs.
reduces the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood.
negatively affect the process of gaseous exchange.
causes premature death.
causes death of at least 5 million people every year.
secondhand smoking kills about 600,000 people every year.
causes cancer.

Advantages:

Smoking Lowers the Risk of Obesity.


Smoking Reduces the Risk of Knee Replacement Surgeries.
Some drugs become more efficient in treating heart diseases with a blend of smoking.
Smoking lowers the risk of Parkinsons disease.

Smoking in Pakistan:
Pakistan has a population of 160 million. Of 35-40 million smokers, around 36% of adult males
and 9% of adult females are tobacco users, giving a male to female ratio of 4:1.In Pakistan about
60,000 people die annually from tobacco-related diseases. The finding of Pakistan Health
Education Survey revealed that the prevalence rate of smoking was highest amongst the heads of
households in the province of Balochistan (51.7%), followed by Punjab (43.3%) and lowest in
the province of NWFP (14.4%); the lowest rate of smoking in NWFP could be attributed to the
use of other types of traditional oral tobacco in the form of snuff (Naswar).

Smoking of Cigarettes gradually declined from 41% among the illiterate to 37.6% among those
educated up to the middle level and then sharply declined to 28.5% among those with secondary
level of education. Tobacco smoking in Pakistan is legal, but under certain circumstances is
banned. The habit is mostly found in the youth of Pakistan and in farmers, and is thought to be
responsible for various health problems and deaths in the country. Smoking produces many
health problems in smokers. According to some surveys, 40% of males and 8% of females are
regular smokers.A report by the Tobacco Control Cell said that 276 people die of smoking in
Pakistan every day.

Reasons for smoking:


The reason of the teenagers' smoking is based on psychological factors. Through smoking
they think they show people that they are adult and can do whatever they want
To release tension
No strict actions by the government

Conclusion:
Smoking is a bad habit widespread among teenagers. It contains dangerous items which destroy
the human brain and lungs. It causes different diseases such as cancer in different areas in the
human body. From the religious point of view, it's prohibited. There are different clear verses in
the Holy Qurans as God says; Dont throw yourself in the destroy." The first requirement of
stopping smoking is certainly the motivation of the smoker himself to do this, since without this
motivation any attempt is vane.
With the evidence present the effects of smoking are bad in terms of lung disease and heart
disease. It isn't just the smoker himself that is affected by the negative effects of smoking but
those around him/her also inhale the smoke and are thus affected.Thus it is concluded that it
should be avoided.

If you stop smoking today you will increase your chances for longer and
richer life.
