It will limit the use of mobile phones to their primary purpose, making phone calls. It also prohibits how drivers handle their phones. Mobiles cannot be held, cradled on
the shoulder or be on the lap of the driver, irrespective of whether they are being used.
Driving while on the mobile is the third highest driving offence with a penalty of $234 and 3 demerit points.
Devices like the Pioneer AVICF310 allow the driver to leave the mobile in the glove box if they choose. The Pioneer will make phone calls via bluetooth or be used as a
completely legal navigation device!
