Name: Ali Ibn Abee Taalib.


Mother: Fatimah bint Asad ibn Hashim.
Father: Abu Taalib, the son of Abd-al-Muttalib ibn Haashim.
Birth place: Makkah.
Birth date: Twenty three years before the Hijrah.

Battle of Tabook
Campaign of Khaybar
Took place in the year 7 AH.
Against the Jewish tribe of Sa'd during the Conquest of Khaybar.
He received sixteen wounds at Uhud.
On the day when Khaybar was stormed he carried the banner which was given to him by the Prophet.
Allah's Messenger said, Tomorrow I shall give the standard to a man through whose hands Allah will
grant us victory.
The next day, he demanded Ali Ibn Abee Taalib. The people told him that he was suffering from an eye
infection. Nevertheless, he demanded his presence.
When he came, the Prophet blew into his eyes and prayed for him and he was cured as if he had
never been ill.
Then the Prophet gave him the standard. Moreover, Ali said, "I shall fight them until they are like us,
Messenger of Allah." The Prophet then said, "Advance warily until you reach their quarters. Invite them
to Islam and inform them what duties, which are incumbent upon them towards Allah. By
Allah, if Allah guides through you one single man, this will be better for you than to possess the most I
precious of camels."

llah's Messenger said to Ali, You are of me and I am of you. And Umar said, The Messenger of Allah remained

, which literally means red camels. The Arabs regard the camels of this colour as the best; hence, humr an-na'am signifies the high

Ali and Fatima


Fatima was in pain and tired from work.
Ali suggested asking the prophet for a servant.
Prophet comes back after Ali and Fatima had gone to bed.
Prophet said, 'Shall I tell you of something that is better than what you asked of me? When you lie
down to sleep, say 'Allaahu Akbar (Allah is Supremely Great)' thirty-four times, 'Subhaanallaah
(Glory be to Allah) thirty-three times; and 'Al-Hamdulillaah (All thanks belong to Allah) thirty-three
times.'
Ali used to say in after years, 'I have never once failed to say them since the Messenger of Allah
taught them to us
